Me, Muffin, Disney World, and Universal - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Friday is the day I can make ADR's!!! While I am excited about this, I am making myself crazy with options!! I so wish Muffin and I were more like those of you who pick something, book it and forget about it but the fact is, as you all know, we are not! I don't know why we do this with both resorts and ADR's. It's not as if we haven't been to many of both the resorts and restaurants before or we wont go back. Anyway!! It is what it is.
We know for sure that we want to eat a nice dinner every night (except maybe for the first night we arrive). Specifically, I only know for certain that we will be booking Be Our Guest for dinner on November 12th before Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party if we can get it.
We decided after all that we may go to Party for the Senses again if it is available while we are at the World. Muffin said that he would do either that or Victoria and Alberts, but not both, and his preference is for PFTS. Since we don't have any dates for that yet, we decided to try and book Victoria and Alberts for now. If there is a PFTS available, it will be on Saturday, November 11th, so that is the night we will try for V and A's. As a back up we are thinking Narcoossees.
We also are thinking we would like to give the Artist Point a try since we will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first three nights of our trip. We ruled out arrival day because you just never know what time you will actually arrive! That leaves the 8th or the 9th.
Along with this, we would really like to take some time to enjoy the resort AND Muffin really wants to do the Keys To the Kingdom tour this trip. I did this many years ago with Katie, Donna (Goofymom) and her daughter Paige and it was really fun. Muffin has never done it! If you are still with me, how this all connects is we will plan our Artist Point dinner on the day we book KTTK as it is a 5 hour morning tour leaving us the afternoon and evening to just hang out at the WL!!
So! Since we are also wanting to spend a day at Epcot and do the F and WF, and will most likely go to MK on the 7th when we arrive, we decided the 9th would be the best day to go for this plan!!
On November 8th, we plan to hit Epcot early and graze the F and WF booths for lunch. We are loosely planning to hang out at Epcot until around 4 PM or so and then head back to the WL for a respite before going to DS.
When we get to DS, on our list is first and foremost having a cocktail at the Edison. Then we are really torn here between THE Boathouse and Morimoto Asia for dinner. We can't do both and of course Muffin prefers THE Boathouse while I am leaning towards Morimoto Asia!! Hopefully, we can work it out by Friday morning!!
On the morning of the 13th, we decided that we would spend some time enjoying the Polynesian and may be book an ADR at the GF Café. We both feel that this restaurant is a hidden gem and highly underrated!! We always make a stop here when we are staying at a MK resort and we have yet to have a disappointing meal!!
All of the above will cover our WDW stay for ADR's.
As far as the rest of the 13th, I am still up in the air as whether I will be enjoying a Disney Park or going to USF today. If I stay with WDW, I may book a late lunch at Mama Melrose and go to DHS for the morning. If not, that will have to wait for the next trip. This is the day Katie and Andy will be arriving but they most likely will not get there until the late afternoon.
On November 14th, it will be just Andy and I so I am thinking this will be an Epcot day. I am going to book an ADR for the Biergarten for lunch and I promised him we would also get a drink at Rose and Crown. Depending on what is going on with Muffin and Katie today, we may also stay for dinner. If we do that, I am thinking Via Napoli or just noshing.
On the 15th, it will again be just me and Andy and although I really wanted him to get two days at WDW, we decided to get those guys Annual Passes for USF and we will be staying much closer to those parks. However, we will be spending Friday, Saturday and Sunday at USF so we may wind up getting him a two day ticket to WDW. I am really stuck on this one!
If we do choose to go WDW on this date, we will most likely spend the day at AK. I will, for now book an ADR at Tusker House for lunch just in case.
That about covers my ADR plans for this trip!! We shall see what shakes down on Friday morning!! I will put this list in a more orderly fashion as soon as I know for sure what ADRs we will get.

I loved the bit where you said you wished you could pick something, book it and forget about it. Never going to happen to you guys, is it?
Oh my goodness, I remember you, Katie, Donna and Paige taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Wow, that's going back in time! Are you still in touch with Donna?
A lot to think about with the ADRs but you still have time to fine tune your list. I'd go with V & A's as it's been so song since you dined there and you recently did PFTS. Not sure if I'll do the latter as such a high price ticketed event. Probably the only way is the top tier ticket as you get so much more with seating, wine and food options etc. Maybe some day.
I've done the KTTK tour and enjoyed it so much. Forget which year but between 2010-12.

No ma'am! And sadly, no.

I am down for either of those wonderful events!! We'll see what happens. I loved the KTTK tour and I think Muffin will too!!
Things did not work out exactly as planned this morning but so far, we are super happy with our choices!!
For starters, since we split our stay, we could only book ADRs through the 10th today. I even called Disney Dining and they said that it was an unfortunate glitch in the system and there really wasn’t much they could do for me. The CM was so nice and said that this made many people unhappy and even checked with her supervisor but, alas, we have to book the rest of our ADRs on Monday. Honestly, it would have been really great if we could have taken care of everything today, but I wasn’t that upset.
The weirdest thing was that I could not book the Artist Point at all. For any night of our stay at WL. We were on the fence about this one anyway so we just decided to rearrange a few things and made a different choice.
Although we love WDW restaurants, the focus of our trip this time is to enjoy the WL and the Polynesian so even if on Monday, I can’t book BOG for MVMCP, I have already come up with another plan for that day and we will be just fine!
So far, this is our list of ADRs:
11/7- Nothing today as we just want to enjoy our first day at WDW. Possibly a F and WF event today.
11/8- Monsieur Paul 7:30 PM This was a tough decision since Muffin is lactose intolerant but the CM assured me that this is a hidden gem and it would not be a problem to cater to Muffin.
11/9- California Grill 6:55 PM. We this restaurant and have yet to have a bad meal here!!
11/10- Victoria and Alberts Queen Victoria Room 6:30 PM. We are definitely looking forward to this but if a Party For The Senses Comes up for tonight, it is toast!!
Stay tuned.........

Looking good so far. We’ve had the same problem booking ADRs as most times we do some sort of a split stay. Very frustrating! But it is what it is and might as well go with the flow as it doesn’t do is any good to get upset .

Agreed!! We are fortunate enough to have eaten at many of WDW's restaurants and we split stays!! I truly believe from what the CM today told me that Disney is working to improve this issue as well. We are more than happy to adjust in the meantime!!
