10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 38 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You've done better than us with the Harry Potter movies - we've managed once and that's it. We have no inclination to watch them, they just didn't do much for us.
Sounds like you covered a lot of ground at Universal and obviously really enjoy a lot of their rides.

I am so glad you are enjoying yourself fully at USF and IOA, Dave!! Butterbeer is the best!!!! I gree that the Harry Potter areas in both parks are amazing and enough to keep you coming back!!
Really enjoying reading your report, Dave. I'm so sorry we never got around to arranging to meet up, as we were both there at the same time, and we too were staying in RPR at the same time as you. It is fascinating to read details of where you went and when, and I'm amazed we didn't just randomly bump into each other! I accidentally met Suzanne1976 in the shop in the resort one evening, and only recognised her by her accent!
Anyway, really enjoying this report, thank you for taking the time to write. I am still trying to plough my way through mine, and I'm only about a third of the way through. I prefer to finish it before I post, as mine are all words and no pictures - which has a limited audience, I suspect.

Responding to Cheryl's comment, I was a huge fan of the HP book series and was excited for the movies. The acting by the kids in the first few were enough to completely turn me off. I kept up with them, though, since the holiday scenes in the hall and the other sets were great enough to make up for sitting through the terrible acting. You know what? I'm guessing all the kids got thousands and thousands of dollars in acting lessons, because they really get better!!!! I haven't seen movie #7, but movie #6, Deathly Hallows part 1, was completely compelling. (Oh, and watching Alan Rickman as snape was always good.)
Dave, this is why I'm so mad at Universal! I would love to see HP world, I mean, I would really really love to see it, but the Express Pass thing is just beyond my comfort zone. But they really have done a wonderful job, haven't they? The rooftops of Hogsmead are absolutely perfect. Nicely captured!

I enjoyed the movies and much more than I thought.
A good day at USF and certainly enjoying the rides!

Great day at USF and enjoying it all. Those Butterbeers are amazing. I want the recipe, but probably not easy to make! Just love the HP areas.

It's too bad we didn't get to meet up. I think I put this out there on the October trips thread. Sort of surprised we didn't run into each other, but then again not sure what you look like and possible we did cross paths!
Glad you are enjoying my TR and so much more to come! Hope you get around to resuming yours.

I enjoy the HP movies, but haven't read any of the boos and enjoy them.
I know what you mean by the Express Pass. It's a big cost at $89 per day. I wanted to get one and may have paid for one but wasn't sure if I would. It was included with my stay at the Royal Pacific. I was considering the Saffire Falls Resort but did not include the Express Pass. But the difference per night between the two resorts was much less than the Express Pass cost, so a good deal IMHO! I'm happy I did this.

Great Harry Potter pics!
Movies are great, but the books are even better!
Glad you enjoyed the photos and so many more to come in the forthcoming updates! I've enjoyed the movies, but haven't read the books.

I the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and hope one day we'll get back there. I started reading the books after there were already two books out, but I quickly caught up and was one of the folks who went to pick up the newest addition at our bookstore at midnight on release day. Luke knew we'd be seeing the movies as soon as they arrived at our theater. Now I own them all and make him watch them every year or so with me.
Great to hear about your love of HP. Love the movies I have seen. I think I've seen about 5 or 6 of them and I know in order. I forget some of the names of them and would probably take watching some of them and see if I had seen it previously.
I think owning the whole dvd series is a good purchase as I'm sure you watch them on occasion. I need to catch up on those I haven't seen. Just love the WWoHP at USF as so well done and so much to see and do from the attractions and so many other experiences. Will definitely return hear in a few years for sure!

Luke gave me the DVD versions of HP one Christmas and then the year we got a Blu Ray player, he bought that set for me.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice and I'm sure you get a lot of enjoyment out of these!

I am a big Harry Potter fan, read all the books and have seen all the movies, probably because my girls were at the right age when the books came out. The theming is amazing and its such a same you missed Gringotts I think its the best ride in the two parks.
