Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier TR - UPDATED 11/11 - COMPLETE!! - Page 50 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Friday, October 21st (Part III) I left Mama Melrose’s at about 4:15 pm and headed for my last FP+ for the day which is the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show just past Star Tours. It’s been many years since I saw this show and it’s at least ten years. I saw this show on one of my first trips to WDW and probably around 2002-4. Not sure which year, but I know I enjoyed the show a lot.
I got in the FP+ line for the show but it was at least ten minutes before we were let in. Then it took quite a while for everyone to be seated. I had a good seat and was about 5-6 rows back in the center, so the FP+ helps with location.
There was a bit of a pre-show for a few minutes and then the real show began. A few people from the audience were selected to take part in some of the show. I wasn’t selected but I was several years ago for the now closed Backlot Tour and the Pearl Harbor portion, which was a lot of fun. My memory then came back regarding the show. I’ll let the photos tell the story! The show is broken up into different parts and they show you how the different stunts with the use of pyrotechnics and special effects are created.
Soon, the show was over and was as enjoyable as when I saw it the last time, many years ago. The show started at about 4:45 pm and lasts around forty minutes. It took a while to exit the theater as I was near the front, but I was outside in about ten minutes. I still had time to get in one more attraction before going to Star Wars Launch Bay for the dessert party.
I walked all the way to Sunset Boulevard to Rock ‘N’ Roll Rollercoaster and the single rider line. The line wasn’t that long but it didn’t seem like the CMs were selecting many from this line. It took about forty minutes from getting in line, the video preshow, out to the other line and them on the ride. This is a great coaster and love riding it on every trip to Studios. I’m glad I had plenty of time to make it to Star Wars Launch Bay for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party. It begins at 6:45 pm and was 6:25 currently after exiting the ride.
I arrived at Star Wars Launch Bay at just before 6:45 pm and I checked in for the dessert party and I was also given a lanyard for the event. I prepaid $69 for the event as not only did I want to do the dessert party, but explore the Star Wars exhibits and have special seating for the fireworks show. I hope this will be worth it!
To get to the dessert party you had to go through much of SWLB and then down a few stairs, where there was a room set up for the party. It was quite crowded and there were CMs checking to make sure you had your lanyard with party credentials. They had various bar tables set up, where you could stand at and enjoy your desserts and drinks. There was quite a big spread of various desserts and a counter where you could get various beverages.
I tried quite a few of the selections from the dessert table and enjoyed them. I can’t exactly remember what each one was. I also had a margarita and a fruity drink of some sort. It was tough at times to find a table, but usually worked out as I kept going back and filling my plate! There was a line at the dessert table, but moved at a good pace.
Some of my selections, the first time around and were quite good!
Not sure what this is!
Round two!
Dessert table spread
Vanilla ice cream with berries and another fruity beverage
Some of the guests that would patrol the area over the next hour
At the far end of the room past the dessert table there was another dessert offering, which I had to have. There was a CM making a Nutella creation in a pan. The Nutella is put into the pan with liquid nitrogen and is flash frozen in just seconds. Watching this was so freaky, but so cool! The temperature of the pan was a balmy -300 degrees F!
My Nutella going through the process
The finished product, topped with a raspberry sauce. It was amazing and just like ice cream!
After filling up on desserts for a while, I explored Launch Bay for a bit before we had to meet for the fireworks show. I watched a short film in the theater about the making of the Stars Wars films franchise. It was enjoyable but too short, especially when you’re talking about doing this in a 15 minute film.
I returned to the dessert party area and waited a few minutes before we would be told to assemble in line and head for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Fireworks show. I knew where we had to meet, so I stayed close to that area and therefore get a better spot outside in our viewing location.
I enjoyed the dessert party portion of this event as there were good beverages and plenty of desserts to fill up on, which I enjoyed a lot. The highlight for me was certainly the Nutella! So far, I can say this is worth the price and glad I did this. It’s still a bit pricey at $69, but you got some good desserts and beverages and special viewing for the fireworks show coming up.
One of these guys was making the rounds!
NEXT: Making A Grand Entrance!

Great photos of the Indiana Jones show! The dessert spread for Star Wars looks quite extensive.
Glad I covered the Indiana Jones show well as it's a great show. Can't believe it took so long to see it again! It was quite the spread at the desert party and I enjoyed everything I had!

Great photos of Indiana jones. It's been a while for us as well.
Glad you enjoyed the dessert party and thought it was worth the money. We thought so as well! That one unappetizing offering was bread pudding. No one in our group tried it either! :

Glad I finally returned to see this great show as I love the I.J. movies! Considering, there is not a lot in Studios to do and see as the other three parks, I can't believe it took this long!
Glad you enjoyed the dessert party as well and felt it was worth the cost. I think for the Nutella alone as that was amazing and so cool to see it made! Thanks for letting me know what that "so called offering" was on the table as I couldn't remember what it was, but didn't look good! You confirmed this for me! Probably, the only thing here that didn't look appetizing and not in any way!

Glad you enjoyed the dessert party - we had a blast at it!
I can't remember now, when did you manage to get reservations for it? I keep checking and checking and checking and it doesn't seem to be available on the Disney website - in terms of the web page just doesn't allow you to search for anything, so I'm not sure if they've finished it.
Oh my gosh, your photos of the Indiana Jones show are spectacular!! The Dessert Party sounds wonderful and I can’t wait to see your fireworks pictures!!
Indian Jones is always a great show. We've seen it a couple of times, usually when we go with someone who hasn't seen it. The dessert party looks awesome! I was seriously considering it for our past trip but the cost of 4 made it a bit steep.

It was a lot of fun and glad I did it! I hope they become available for you soon for January if I'm correct for your next trip or possibly February? Reservations opened up for my date on the first Monday in September (Labor Day), so just about six weeks prior. I know for these events and not your standard ADRs can be booked usually no more than three months out.

Glad you enjoyed them as I was pretty close and in the center for the show. Had a great time at the party and worth doing! There will be many photos from the fireworks!

Took a while to return to IJ but glad I did. I enjoyed the dessert party and for one person not a huge plunge and can understand your apprehension on this.

Good to know. I'll keep checking, although the fact when you go to the page with the details of the Star Wars dessert party and you can't book anything at all doesn't inspire that much hope.
