Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier-WDW PTR - UPDATED 10/9 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great plans!
I think you will love Kennedy Space Center. We went last year and really enjoyed it. Although, we went in the summer and the heat put a bit of a damper on the outside portion- but I was still really glad we went.

Looking forward to hearing your dining plans.....
I'm glad I'm finally going to KSC as it's something I've always wanted to do! It will be mid October, so the heat shouldn't be too bad. I hope you will like my ADRs!

Love that you'll see AK at night. I'm really looking forward to that.
Victoria Falls lounge is so nice and I meant to go last time & simply forgot. It's nice your plans are so detailed. I just write "AKL evening" and you see how that turned out.
Looking forward to ADRs.

I'm looking so forward to experiencing the AK at night. Victoria Falls is one of my favorite lunges in WDW.

Loving your plans, can't wait to see your ADRs!!! I'm living vicariously through you this year as we aren't going to WDW or taking a DCL cruise for our anniversary so no V&A's or Remy's for our anniversary dinner! Oh, the HORROR!
Hmmm. Wonder where we will go this year?

Sorry, to hear that you won't be going away for your anniversary! I will do my best to keep you entertained with my PTR and TR to follow! ADRs to come within the next few days as working till 6pm M-F makes these updates difficult! Why does work have to get in the way of the important things in life?

Monday, April 18-Monday, April 25 Well my ADR window finally opened up and I was so happy, I could finally begin to make these and did these at the beginning of my ADR window. The only downfall of this is I’m staying at a non-Disney resort, so I had to make these day by day and couldn’t make them for my length of stay. A little inconvenience but not terrible!
So here they are...
Saturday, October 15th The Boathouse (Disney Springs) 8:30 pm. -A new one for me and looking forward to trying this one, even though it seems quite pricey and hope it justifies the cost. A bit late, but I want to get a lot of park time on my first day as I will probably be arriving at my resort around noon. This one was a bit tough to get as there were no openings for the time frame I wanted. I actually booked it through Open Table with little problem.
Sunday, October 16th Trattoria al Forno (Boardwalk) 6:30 pm. -Another new one for me and the menu looks exceptional. A bit earlier than normal for me but I plan on heading to Epcot after dinner for Illuminations.
Monday, October 17th -No ADR yet as I may go to the Four Seasons resort near the Port Orleans resorts for dinner at Capa. These ADRs can be booked on Open Table but only two months out, so I’ll have to wait four more months to make it.
Tuesday, October 18th Victoria & Albert’s-Queen Victoria’s Room (Grand Floridian) 6 pm. -I’ve experienced this amazing dining experience on two previous occasions and so excited to do it again. There are four tables in this room and each ADR is 15 minutes apart. There were only two tables remaining and I’m glad I got it!
Wednesday, October 19th The Wave (Contemporary) 8 pm. -I haven’t dined here since it’s opening back in 2009, so I thought it was time to try again. I liked it my first time, but not unbelievable. I also plan to go to the Polynesian after dinner to see all the changes in the resort and possibly go to Trader Sam’s.
Thursday, October 20th Morimoto Asia (Disney Springs) 8:30 pm. -Another first for me as that makes three so far. As I’ll be returning from my Kennedy Space Center trip, I had to make this a late one. I had a tough time making this one through Disney and Open Table as the latter, I couldn’t make more than two months out. Passporter Cam suggested to me that I'd call the restaurant directly. I did and got my ADR! Much obliged Cam! Although, you are not given a confirmation number by doing it this way. Not a big deal.
Friday, October 21st Sanaa (Animal Kingdom Lodge-Kidani Village) 5:40 pm. -I am hoping for Rivers of Light Show to be in operation by now as it has been announced it’s being delayed indefinitely, so some logistics of the show can be worked out first. I’m also thinking about making an ADR for Tiffin’s and hope for a dinner package. There are no ADRs for Tiffin’s past 5 pm as the extended park hours for the AK haven’t been released yet. Even without the Rivers of Light show, it will be quite an experience to be in the AK at night for something completely new!
Saturday, October 22nd Hollywood Brown Derby (Disney Studios) 12:15 pm. -As this is departure day, I wanted to spend some time in the parks and have a nice meal before I head home. My flight isn’t until 6:15 pm, so this will give me a few hours to enjoy my vacation. This will be the fourth straight WDW trip, I’ve done this and I don’t ever see myself going back and taking an earlier flight. I had also thought about going to Disney Springs as well as I’m staying in that area, but I felt I’d enjoy some park time on my last day much more.
So there you have it and we shall see over the coming months, if I adhere to these!
NEXT: This Is A Much Better Deal Than I Was Expecting!!!
