A Promise Kept: A Cam and Fam PTR Updated 10/9 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The 2 BRs are very spacious to say the least and mice tour via AllEars even though a bit long on their part! Might be best in two minutes these days with many limited attention spans ! All looks good and especially love the views from the deck and of LBV golf course as I know it so well and played there 10+ times with 11 WDW trips up to 2014. At least once on every trip and possibly more.
The course meanders throughout many WDW resorts with great views and those being....SSR, POFQ, POR, OKW and THV. There are also great views of Disney Springs from here! The two nearby Magic Kingdom courses (Palm and Magnolia) have some good views at times but mostly at the beginning and end..but not as good as LBV. What I love about the MK courses and especially, The Palm course is the sounds of the WDW RR, which I can hear throughout my round and just keeps up my WDW world and more to look forward to after my round! That's the WDW experience!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
I think the two bedroom villas will be perfect. We were stunned by the size of the studios at Old Key West. If only all the other DVC resorts were that big!
The two-bedroom looks wonderful, and plenty of room! Dave and I stayed in a one-bedroom once there and felt lost in all the space, though I did love the full-sized washer and dryer in the room!
I very rarely get the chance to sit down and read other people's TRs, but I decided to log on tonight and see if I could catch yours before it got insanely long. You're very popular! And, I'm in luck! Only 13 pages in.
Your plans look great so far! We will have some overlap on our trip, and I would love it if we could meet up at least long enough to say hello and get a picture with the famous Cam! (I'm pretty shy and awkward in person...until you get me talking. And then, well...good luck. ) We don't leave until Sunday the second.
I'm already forgetting what parks you said you were visiting which days, but we'll have to put our heads together and figure out if our plans mesh at all.
I'm excited to follow along with your PTR. I can't believe how much Morgan has grown up since you took her with you on that trip when she was 11. Kids grow up too fast, dangit.
The OKW villas are so large which makes it a perfect place to stay with a big group! We stayed in a one bedroom villa in 1996 with our girls and it was so nice to have our own bedroom while the girls slept in the living room! They enjoyed the whirlpool bath back then too!

Wow, the 2 bedroom villa is very spacious. I think it will provide plenty of family time as well as privacy.

When we were looking at the villas, we felt this one would definitely give us space to gather and space for privacy.

How cool to be taking a newbie, especially one who is 76. My dad was 84 on his first visit and loved it.

Our room at SSR a few Octobers back had a patio that was next to the golf course. Very cool!

I'm not sure why Disney downsized the villas after starting with such roomy spaces at OKW. The size of the rooms keeps us coming back here.

I didn't realize until I watched the video that we'd actually have a full size washer and dryer. I'm sure that will really help with 6 folks in the room.

We do have to meet, and I totally get the shy and awkward. I've always been as my mom said a little backward, but getting talking and you'll wish I'd be quiet for a while. So we should make a great pair.
On Friday 9/30 we'll be in MK in the morning and DHS in the afternoon. Saturday 10/1 is Epcot in the morning and early afternoon, OKW midafternoon (if our room is ready), and then AK early evening.
Monday, 10/2 is MK for my sister and her crew's first day, so Friday or Saturday might work best. We can be flexible to some extent those days.

Me, too. They did better when they got to AKL, especially adding the extra bathroom.

I've watched the video several times, and I'm really sure that we should not feel the least bit cramped for space.
You don't jibber jabber, I would call it bringing life and interesting detail to your trip reports!
That is so sweet of you to say! Your comments remind me so much of what I always encouraged my students to do in their writing, bring life to it and keep it interesting with details.

We love how quiet it is here. We didn't try out the pool last time, and I'm not sure why. So that is something new I can't wait to try.

Save
I just double checked my touring plans, and we will be at DHS in the afternoon on 9/30. We plan on arriving about 3 and leaving by 6:45 for a dining reservation. And then on 10/1 we are having breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and plan on being at Epcot by about 10:45. We don't plan on staying long, just long enough to do a couple things before hopping over to MK, because I'm scared of the weekend F&W Festival Crowds! So it seems like we can choose whichever of those days works best! How funny that our plans mesh so well!
