A Baltic boating adventure TRIP REPORT COMPLETED 11/19 - Page 33 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great photos of the sunset! The activity schedule just makes me laugh! The disembarkation questionnaire at this point is just ridiculous!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Have been trying to comment for several days now, but I keep getting the error message. Anyway, QSine looked, um, interesting. And that plate Mark's filet was served on? At first glance I could have sworn it was a bedpan. (Sorry, Mark)
I am seriously in love with the solarium. Could spend an entire morning just lounging in there.
Can't wait for your next update!
There's nothing like a sunset at sea. Gorgeous photos! Especially those where the sun appears to be shining down through a hole in the clouds. Awesome!
We were very lucky this cruise with some superb sunsets.

The activity schedule is amusing! I see how you and Mark got a chuckle over it. But disembarkation already? Cripes.

Hmm, QSine is definitely different. Personally, though, when looking at the pictures of the food I kept thinking "over the top". Like they're trying way too hard. I mean, they had some funny ideas like the silver bullet or putting the strawberries in fake grass. But honestly, it kind of takes away from the important part: The food and ease of eating it! Some of the main dishes looked like you had a lot of "assembling" (for lack of a better word) to do. Can you relate to this at all?

Oh completely - I hear you on everything you're saying and I thought they were trying too hard as well. They obviously use it as their unique selling point and they want to make a big deal of it...
Wednesday 8 June – part one: what a nice surprise in our room!
Well, staying up later last night worked – I didn’t even surface until 6:50am, which is definitely a step in the right direction! I actually went back to bed as well, and snoozed until 8:00am. Of course, this is just as we’re getting towards visiting places and shore excursions, but at least we don’t have to be up early tomorrow for Stockholm, as we don’t get there until 10:00am…
We were very pleased when we got back to the room last night to find this waiting for us in the room…
We’d heard some people talking about how they’d had a kettle in their room, and we were like and assumed maybe they were the Concierge or Aqua Class guests? However, one has finally appeared in our room, so I guess they’re just slow in distributing them this cruise. It meant we could enjoy a cup of tea in the room, which was a lovely start to the day.
We headed out to get breakfast around 8:30am, and I was expecting to find the Oceanview Café packed, but if anything, it was really quiet. Where was everyone?
Ok, so as promised yesterday, here are all the different types of eggs benedict you can get.
I kept it light this morning, and just got some fruit, as I wanted to go swimming, and I wanted it to be a serious swim, so I didn’t want to eat too much beforehand.
I got some photos of some of the other offerings we have…
We then headed along deck 14…
… and made our way down to the Solarium. It was already quite busy, but we managed to grab a couple of sun loungers, then we headed for the pool. I reckoned that it was about a 12 or 13 metre pool, so I did 60 lengths in total, which should equate to either 720 or 780 metres. Given I usually do 800 metres when I swim, I figured that was a decent result. I wanted to try and get some “proper” swims in during this cruise, otherwise I know that by the time I get home, my fitness levels will really have dropped through the floor.
Once I was done with that, I did some stretching, then we gathered our things up, and headed over to the hot tub. I assumed we could into one of the big seats next to it, but someone had left their things on it. Instead, we put our stuff by the hot tub, and headed into the tub. We soaked in there for a while, then gathered up our things and made our way over to the Persian Garden.
When we arrived, there was just one other couple in there, sitting on the hot stone chairs. We must’ve started something though, as more and more people came in, and eventually eight of the nine chairs were taken up. Wow, this is a busy morning!
I had asked when we arrived if the aromatic suite was working, and the receptionist had checked it, and confirmed it was. It was certainly very aromatic and a lot hotter than yesterday, although thankfully the seats weren’t too hot, so you could sit on them without needing a towel. I had about three sessions in there, and it certainly cleared my sinuses out.
I was going to go into the steam room, but I noticed there was no condensation on the door, so I knew something wasn’t right. I opened the door, and found two people in there, saying it wasn’t working. They weren’t doing much, so I headed back to reception to tell them. They tried all the basics, but nothing worked, and eventually called the engineers out. I didn’t see them, as I left before Mark did, but he told me later when he got back to the room, that they had eventually arrived and got it working.
It’s not a good score is it? I’ve used the Persian Garden three days on the run now, and on one day, the steam room’s not working, and on the other day, the aromatic suite wasn’t working. You’d then they’d check the thing properly before opening, but I can only assume they don’t do that.
Eventually, I went and showered, used the sauna for a bit, then changed, and headed back to the room. Mark joined me a few minutes later. He pointed out that there was a cruise ship on the horizon, and we seemed to be gaining on it, but then again, there’s no real way of telling, as the only way you could see it was from the front of the boat, or leaning out from our balcony, and we hadn’t done either of those things since last night when the search and rescue helicopter arrived.
We settled down to watch the first episode of the final series of Banshee. Trust me, this really isn’t for everyone, as it’s exceptionally violent (I just don’t watch those bits), but it also has some great characters in it, and some superb one liners.
We saw a ferry…
… and we saw a cruise ship up ahead. Mark was hoping that we were catching it up, but when we lost sight of it, we figured perhaps we weren’t…
It was certainly more cloudy than the last couple of days, and a bit murky out there – not really a day to be sitting on deck.
Glad you were able to get a kettle for your morning tea. I always feel a bit more "civilized" if I've had a cup of coffee before I have to face the world, vacation or no vacation.
Good job sticking with the exercise routine. Not always easy to do when on vacation--I admire your determination !
Mmmmm, crepes!
