As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). We were recently at Tokyo Disneyland, and popcorn buckets were extremely popular there. They had the cutest kinds of buckets, for example shaped like Minnie's bow, Dumbo, or R2D2. I bought my older DD a Stitch one, since she's a huge Stitch fan (she wasn't able to travel to Japan with us). The lines were ridiculously long at all the different popcorn stands just for the buckets!
Anyway, I don't recall seeing those kinds of cute, fancy popcorn buckets at WDW on our first trip 5 years ago. Do they have them now? I'd love to pick one or two up during our upcoming trip in June. I'd buy more, but they're big and bulky, so difficult to pack to bring home.
Here is a picture I found on the internet of the Stitch popcorn bucket. It is the very same one I bought for my DD. You can wear it around your neck, but it is bulky!
OMG!!! My DS would LOVE that Stitch bucket!! And he doesn't eat popcorn - but he would if he had to just to get one!!
He's a major Stitch fan too!!

Tokyo Disneyland popcorn buckets are the best! We lived in Japan for a few years and frequented the parks and I've got quite a few, but now I wish I'd gotten even more! As far as the US parks, I think they tend to do the more unique popcorn buckets at just special times of year or for special events.
So there are popcorn buckets at WDW too, but just not as "fancy" as the ones at Tokyo Disneyland? I'd settle for regular plastic "pail" type of popcorn buckets, especially if they have the year 2016 on them. Great souvenirs!
As for the TDL's unique popcorn buckets, they were amazing! But all the lines at the different popcorn stands were crazy long. My DD's classmate's parents actually stood in line for the Stitch one for me. (We traveled to Japan with my DD's high school band, because they were invited to perform at the Hamamatsu Festival.) They said they waited about 40 minutes, so the mom texted everyone on her phone to see if we wanted one. She wanted to get as many as she could, if she was going to wait in that long line. I opted out of standing in long lines, because I happened to get injured in an "accident" the day before our TDL day (long story), so I was supposed to be off my feet. But nothing could keep me away from my very first visit there!

Sometimes at WDW they have special, fancy buckets. One year there was a Dumbo one, and last year they had a Cinderella one for the new movie that was out. My sister just got back from Disneyland and she got one that is the shape of a Mickey Balloon. The Stitch one is very cute!

Someone on the disboards posted a link to FB. I saw the Cinderella one. It's beautiful! I also saw that the Dumbo one at TDR is different from the Dumbo one at WDW. Both are super cute, but the TDR is more colorful. I have to search to see what the Mickey Balloon one looks like!

Yes, they do have them! Look and ask around. We have a Mickey Santa bucket and a Cinderella coach-shaped bucket (along with half a dozen of the regular popcorn buckets in assorted parks and seasonal designs).
And it looks like the flavored popcorn -- what I was used to finding when we'd go to the Tokyo parks -- is finally taking off at the US parks. But, these are very American flavors, whereas in Japan you could experience the flavors of Soy Sauce and Butter, Curry, Black Pepper, Milk Tea, but the most popular one seemed to be found near Pooh's Honey Hunt, what else, Honey! I really do miss the different experiences of Tokyo Disney!
We have DarthVader and R2D2 popcorn buckets from Hollywood Studios. There are usually some special buckets at the popcorn cart on the main road of HS...from the entrance and head to where the Hat used to be...the cart is usually there on the right.
Each park also has their Themed bucket...with a park design(just the average round shape though). I do not recall seeing a date on these...the ones we have do not have a date. But they are nice souvenirs anyways!

I have seen special popcorn buckets periodically (and I don't travel during the holidays so these haven't been tied to holiday celebrations). I have a cute Dumbo one. Biggest problem was getting him home. His ears made him hard to pack.
