As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm a registered nurse. I work for a large health system and visit patients in their homes (usually after they are discharged from one of our hospitals). I love it. I have alot of flexibility in my hours, and It's extremely rewarding when you walk into a home and you are able to really teach people about new medication regimen etc.....sometimes they really need the help, and its great to know I made a difference.
Nursing is a second career for me... I used to be a high school teacher, and I like that in this nursing position I do alot of teaching-so I feel that I put my teaching experience to good use as well. Sometimes I do miss teaching, and have thought about going back to teaching social studies....but this job is so wonderful...I can't give it up.

Up until January 2011 I was working full time as an office manager for a print shop, then I quit to babysit our first grandchild full time instead. Now I'm watching three granddaughters, ages 4 1/2, 2, and 5 months 50 hours a week. They offered to pay me but I just couldn't take money from them. I love seeing the girls everyday and wouldn't have it any other way. Not to say I wouldn't like to have some time off which doesn't happen very often cause they don't have a backup sitter. Their vacation time is "my" vacation time too and since they both only have a week, I can't take days off very much at all cause that takes away from our vacation that DH and I like to take every year......which I need.

I am the help desk person for a software company and I work from home. So I like that as I never have to worry about the NE weather and driving in snow storms plus working from home does have some perks..not as stressful, more freedom to do things during the day like laundry and starting dinner earlier than 6 pm (as that is when I normally got home from work). But can I say I love my job...ummm...I don't think so...I like it is as far as I will go because working with some of our customers can be very tough.
Seeing that in about 2 years I will hopefully be retired it is too late to change my profession but when I was young I either wanted to be an airline stewardess or a guidance counselor.
I was in customer service for 24 years. There are pros and cons to that job....but....I loved it. I now am a caregiver to my DH and, to be honest....I would rather do ANYTHING else. I applaud those in a nursing career.......it's a lot of work.
I am a stay-at-home mom. I do work very part time at my DD's school on T/TH to get out of the house for a bit. Before quitting my job I was a lead teacher for a kindergarten enrichment program. I loved teaching kindergarten, but I felt I was needed at home more. I feel I get the best of both worlds now as I am able to work part time with my kiddos at school and have more time at home for my family.
After losing my job of 23 years this past June, I am happy to report I will be starting a new job as and X-Ray secretary at a local Mammography Clinic on Monday. I will be working with the very same radiologists that I worked with at the hospital, and I know many of the people who work at the clinic. So, basically, I will be doing the same job just for a new company!
I am currently a Pre-K Teacher. I love my job. But I am looking into moving into a higher grade next school year... I actually just got off of a phone call with a principal looking to move into 1st grade.
Currently I work PT at our local public library adult reference desk. I have been working for the past five years at this library, a position I pursued while homeschooling our daughters when I only wanted PT hours. I choose it because I had really enjoyed the three years working in a library during my college days. Before homeschooling I worked FT in case management for social services. Now that we are no longer homeschooling I was faced with returning to FT work but found myself having no desire to return to social services; I loved being back in a library. So now I have begun Graduate School for Library and Information Sciences so that I can continue a career in library work, where I plan to stay until I retire, about 25 years or so from now.
I'm a stay-at-home mom, been out of work for 8 years. It's not as easy as it sounds and sometimes I get overwhelmed. I can't imagine working a full time job and coming home and continue working. Kudos to all the mommas that do it!!!
M-F I homeschool the kids-which is pretty much a FT job. Especially since Dd is in 10th grade.
Saturday and Sunday I work 12+hour shifts in a medical lab. (I test blood, urine, etc-any body fluid really.) I do not like my job. I hate the 12 hr shifts, I hate missing church every Sunday, etc. I hate NEVER having a day off. Sadly, I'm the breadwinner and we would not be able to make it w/o my income. I do love my coworkers though. I'm trying to get our bills paid off so I should at least be able to cut my hours even more. *fingers crossed*
All I ever wanted was to be a sahm. Oh to hit the big rewind button!!!
My DH and I run a small professional theatre company. I deal with supervising the box office, the front of house, auditions, acquiring the rights for plays, supervising the interns, and "other jobs, as assigned." DH has been called upon as an actor and director, but so far, I have not (at least not at this theatre).
Do I enjoy it? Mostly yes, I like working with DH, but dealing with patrons can be frustrating.
