PTR: A rustic Spook-tacular adventure for two: Tricks, Treats and Eats! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So back to my trip report and then some current stuff too
Spooktacular:
Not sure if that's a word but I wanted it for my title to put in that we are going to the MNSSHP!!! We haven't been to the party in two years and I really wanted to get back to this party once more if I could before we take a year off from Disney.
I bribed my husband with that I would save and pay for the two tickets if he would agree to go. Yea, like I have to beg, he loves that party and quickly agreed to go! We had to decide which night and agreed we wanted to go early on in our trip like we usually do as to get more out of the tickets. When we first agreed to go the dates weren't yet released so we had to wait till first of May before we knew the dates.
Amanda my travel agent texted me the dates and prices as soon as they were released I quickly bought us two tickets for the Sunday before Halloween. We really didn't want to go actual Halloween night because I think that would be insane busy. So, we thought the Sunday before.
We bought the tickets and a few months later when we changed our dates I was worried out of my mind we would loose the money on those tickets. My travel agent felt we wouldn't be able to move those tickets so I called the number on the back of the tickets and spoke with a nice guy who told me that as soon as I knew the dates of the new trip to give him a call back.
Once we changed and rebooked our trip for the week earlier and got through to a lady that honored my request to change the dates. We were mailed new tickets a week later and got the new tickets in the mail
So, plans for this night, we always like to get in rides that might have long waits the next day. This will be our actual first time in the parks which is Sunday the 25th which is the night before the party. Like I said we wanted to avoid Halloween night the next weekend. So, we arrive Saturday and then Sunday we will just hang out by the pool, get ready and head over to Kona for dinner before the party begins at 6pm.
We tried for BOG for dinner reservations for this night but no luck I was told to try again the day we check in so we will see
Our plans, are to hit up Seven Dwarfs mine train, space mountain, peter pans flight and Pirates along with Big Thunder mountain.
We of course will hit every candy stop which we
Then we will get in the parade and the fireworks. I hear there is a new stage show this year so we may get in on that too!
We usually stay until 1130pm which we will try to do again before heading back to WL on a boat
So, I wanted to share some more current things. First off back in February my friend and I found some jars on pinterest we wanted to make in order to save cash for the trip. My goal was 250 by just putting etra 5 or less in each week
So I finally got my 250 met this week!!! so it worked and its counting down my trip at the same time! I also wanted to save money this way to have plenty of ones and fives because I wanted to ahve money for tips at dinner
36 days to go and I've only started gathering small things for our trip. I just ordered the colors of our magic bands last week. We got a little booklet this week titled Bailey family vacation and its really cool!
Here are some things I've gotten so far for the trip, my first picture is these cute little tins I got from Walgreens for 50 cents per tin. It was qtips in one of them and cotton face swabs in the other. Arent they to die for????
This shirt I just had to have! I love it and I got it for 10 dollars on sale a month ago at the disney store
And this is from yesterday but its our countdown board...We got this countdown board in Gatlinburg last year and we love it! We get to use it for all types of countdowns. My husband draws the graphics LOL
So theres some more info about our trip and some current stuff about the trip! Now we are just waiting for our documents to arrive and our magic bands to make their way here. I also need to order my chase rewards card....anyone know how long out I should do this? My cycle ends in a week and i wanted to see if I got anymore rewards before I order.
Well have a great weekend guys and I"m off to enjoy Oktoberfest here locally this weekend...
I also have a Disney fund jar but I must admit it isn't getting that much funding lately. Since our next Disney trip will be in 2017 (sad about that ), there's still lots of time to get that sucker full.
How great that you were able to "convince" your hubby about going to MNSSHP! If I ever go in the fall, this would definitely be on my must-do list.

yes I forgot to say I got those tins from Walgreens for only 50 cents per tin and one holds qtips and the other holds cotton swabs for the face!
I think I missed the start of this but I'm here now! The new stage show is supposed to be amazing! I'm definitely going to be making a point to see it. Enjoy Oktoberfest this weekend! I went to ours last night
Just catching up! Great start! Love your jar! We do that as well and manage to save quite a bit that way! And love your countdown board!!! Your hubby is quite the artist!

It's kind of depressing when I think how long it'll be (2014-2017=3 years ). But, at least I know it's gonna be one heck of a trip. My hubby knows how much I love Disney and he's sad that I'll have to wait so long. He's already telling me that we'll stay at whichever resort I want. Hmm, that's making my wheels turn.
Congrats on the trip to France in 2016!!! Your food plans sound very laid back and relaxing for this trip which will work well with the F&W Festival! We are always so full when we eat around the World Showcase during the festival and usually aren't all that hungry for lunch so this should work well for you. BTW, your fund jar is so adorable and congrats on hitting your goal! The tins are so cute too
Congrats on getting the MNSSHP tickets switched to the new dates. The money jar and the countdown board are so cute. Your DH is great with the graphics.
