As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That's all awesome news, Melissa!! Congrats on figuring out how to split the FP's. Logan and I are going to the Cape May Cafe for breakfast one of the mornings that Muffin is on the road. I can't wait to try it!! We have never eaten here and it looks fun!! .
You & Tara are both in for a treat - we love love love Cape May meals. First off bc of the spacial layout of the restaurant the character meals just don't seem to be as crowded and the high ceilings help with noise control. The downside was the fact depending on where you are seated it is a long walk to the buffet. The food on the dinner buffet is great. The only downside is that they rotate specific items based on the day of the week. I do think you will enjoy this more than 1900 as for the food aspect but if you were really into meeting the evil step sisters then the no character dinner at Cape May may be a downside for you.
Yay!!! I'm caught up & it's seriously taken me hours since I'm at work while trying to sneak & read it!! I had to make notes so I would remember what I wanted to reply with!!
1) your boys are absolutely adorable! I love the things they say & can't wait to read about how much they enjoy the trip.
2) like Tara, I thought you were bringing 31 insulated bags at 1st! Lol
3) how many Verizon points did you have to use roughly to get the hotel room? My account says I have 69,000+ but I've never officially registered to use the points but they are accumulating.
& finally your plans look great! I'm happy you were able to book Poly & look forward to any other changes your going to make before trip time arrives!
Getting a new car when it's unepxected is no fun. Linny (linnyad) had a Ford Flex, and I rode in it- it was nice but I'm pretty sure she didn't love it. I'm a big fan of the Chevy Traverse (that's what I have) as well as the Enclave & Acadia (same vehicles pretty much). I was so close to getting a Town & Country before I realized I could afford a slightly used Traverse.
Plans look great and yay for figuring out how to split the FP+!
Thanks! And the multi reply feature seems to be working again too

We debated heavily about the breakfast, but we're already doing two breakfast (Tusker & 'Ohana) and a brunch at Chef Mickey...plus I just couldn't pass up crab legs again. It's much easier with the dining plan because I won't stress so much about the cost.

The characters would be nice, but after my husband compared the two menus, he decided Cape May would work out better. I'm not a gal to argue about seafood

Thank you! They keep us in stitches at times. We have something around 600,000 Verizon points. I've been a customer since....1999 when it was originally AirTouch Cellular. I've only cashed in a few points for a Kindle Gift Card way back in 2012 so I could load up new books for our trip.

I liked the Traverse, but it drove really different....or maybe it was just me? I'm barely over 5'0 tall and I felt like I was sitting on top of the steering wheel in order to reach the pedals.
I do like the room in the T&C, just wish it were a more reliable vehicle...or the company was better about actually fixing the recall. That's a whole other sob/rant story.

Too funny about the Mickey Bar in the future lol! I know you are going to live Cape May!! We about had to roll out of there last time. And the kids get to color on the table "cloth". And for the non-dairy allergy people in your family, Caden says it has the best macaroni and cheese of anywhere.

I finally got all caught up with your PTR Your plans look wonderful and your boys are adorable! I was sorry to read about your whole car situation as I know how stressful that can be figuring out what to buy. It will be nice to have something dependable though. I've never eaten at the Cape May Cafe but I love the look of the restaurant! Your trip will be here before you know it
I had a jeep Cherokee before the traverse so I know how you feel about Chrysler.
I've had a few rants on FB about the situation....still waiting on the new replacement for the $900 ignition I just paid to replace that was under recall. It's rare that I will completely swear off a company, but this situation has done just that.

Nolan LOVES Mac N Cheese so I'm sure he'll have a bit of this If not, Brian will probably make him get some just so he can try it I'm excited to hear that they offer that because it means the chef should be able to boil some plain noodles for the other two - they seriously just eat noodles with a bit of salt & pepper.

Thank you! We were on the fence about adding the plan, until I ran the numbers.

Thanks! They look quite a bit bigger than my Signature picture - I really should put an updated one there, but it's hard to get the three together, still enough for a picture and all looking in the general direction of the camera.
Right now the biggest shock of the new car is the hefty sticker price...I can't believe how expensive cars have gotten since our last purchase in 2007!

May I suggest a re-do of the siggie pic? You can take them to Beaches and Cream after.
My DS had so much fun playing around inside that car!
Ugh, I hate the tiers at Epcot and DHS! Why have to choose between Soarin and Test Track or between RnRC and TSMM? Ok, rant over.
Glad you were able to figure out the split FP+! I took advantage of this a lot, as my youngest son Adriel has turned into a little chicken just like his dad.
Congrats on adding the dining plan! I swore I would never get it again as now we're all Disney "adults", but my boys eat like animals. So I'm considering getting it next year. That way there will be no one dying of hunger because of lack of food or budget reasons.

Haha, I am the same with my signature pic...my picture was from almost 7 years ago...my guys are now 9, 12 & 15...
