As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Did you read the Harry Potter book series?
If so, which book was your favorite?
Who is your favorite character?
Have you been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios?
Did you read the Harry Potter book series? I only read the first two books-not really a Harry Potter fan at all. I read them years ago.
If so, which book was your favorite? probably the first one
Who is your favorite character? Hermine
Have you been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios? No, but I've heard it's awesome!
We've never read the books or seen the movies (we watched the first half hour of the first one and got so bored, we gave up ) and we've not yet made it to Universal to see the Wizarding World - hopefully next year we'll finally make it there.

Yes I have read all the Harry Potter books (I own them). Can't say I have a favorite. Believe it or not Snape because he made me hate him until the last book/movies. I've been twice to Harry Potter at Universal but since the newest addition.
I have read them, multiple times. Harry is my favorite character. I don't know which was my favorite book. I loved them all. I have not seen to Universal to see it yet.

I have read the whole series twice. Once as each book came out, and then once later right in a row.
My favorite book is #4 Goblet of Fire.
My favorite character is probably Hermione.
I have not been to the WW at Universal. I am not a big fan of the Universal parks. DH took DS last summer. I spent the day solo at WDW.

I haven't read all of them, but my son has. We own all of the books and DVDs.
My favorite character is probably Harry, but I really like Professor Mcgonagall and Hagrid.
We have been to Wizarding World but not Diagon Alley. We will be there this August!
Yes, I have read all the Harry Potter books and I'm a huge fan. The third book, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. Harry is probably my favorite character. I have not been to Universal yet to check out the Wizarding World.
Yes, read them all, most in Spanish (level is good for my Spanish practice). Couldn't wait to get the last one translated, read that one in English. I haven't seen the last movie, I probably won't until DS has gotten the bug and read them all (in quite a few years, he's not reading on his own yet.)
Favorite character in the books...so hard to separate the characters in the books from the characters in the movies. I liked Trelawney a lot when she came on the scene. And I liked Dumbledore, and that shapeshifting woman who's in love with the werewolf, isn't it? Oh, and Harry's godfather, I loved him too. Serrius Black? I intensely disliked Harry's decision-making, this was the weakest part of the books in my opinion:
"Something weird and scary happened. Keep it a secret!!!!" Cheap plot device, IMO.
In the movies, I love love love Alan Rickman as snape. So so so good. And I really like Ron. I want to punch Hermione, and Harry puts me to sleep. I also like McGonagal.
I haven't read any of the books and have only seen bits and pieces of a couple of the movies while flicking channels on the TV. If we ever go to Universal (first and only trip was several years ago) again, I'll have to read the books or watch the movies so I know what's what.

Yes, I've read them all!! Saw the movies, too!! I enjoyed the whole series, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be The Sorcerer's Stone. My favorite character is Hagrid. I have been to the Wizarding World, but not since it's been updated. I am hoping to get there next year.

We have been in love with the series at our house since the books first came out. From the time we discovered the books (don't remember if there was only one, or two at the time), we have gone to the midnight Barnes and Noble parties to get our copy, then read non-stop till we had finished the book. Luckily Amanda and I are speed-readers - poor Jennie had to wait till we'd finished. Amanda would read all day, and I would read all night! They always came out during summer vacation, and everyone would laugh as our family had at least 3-4 dueling copies in our sand chairs at the lake.
This was before the movies came out, (at least at the beginning), and my Amanda emptied out her 6 foot bookcase to create a scale model of the entire Wizarding World of Harry Potter, complete with all her favorite characters.
As far as the characters are concerned - I have a hard time choosing a favorite, since I love them all, but I would have to say Hermione, since she is so like me, and all my girls. Emma Watson was perfectly cast!
And no - I have NOT been to Universal to see their take yet, I am dying to go, but I can't until I can find time for all my grown up girls to come with me.
No, I've never read any of them. I started to read the first and it just didn't grab me, so I put it down......for good, as it turns out. Haven't seen any of the movies either. Just isn't my thing.
