Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Congrats on the BoG adr!

NBA is in our house everyday. And it's a warzone in our house, as we all root for different teams. OKC for me and my oldest, Miami for my middle kid, and Golden State for my youngest. My husband goes with whoever wins. Since my favorite team is eliminated, I'm not really rooting for anyone.

Thanks! My team is still going strong - despite the loss of K-Love. That was a crazy game, but the Cavs swept Boston

To be honest, basketball is my LEAST favorite sport because the season straddles two major holidays and seems to drag on forever. I was really glad when my husband dropped that coaching duty. The Cavs are fun to watch, when I'm not glued to baseball.

Update 5/1

Another crazy week - by Tuesday, I was positive it was already Thursday because we'd packed so much in. I've recently joined a "get fit or get out" group and have been working really hard on eating healthier and fitting in a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise everyday. I'm feeling REALLY proud because I've managed to stick with the eating plan AND exercise each day - even when I had a thousand excuses, I still made myself do it.

After a super--hectic and busy week, I started the day yesterday with a bird committing suicide on my car as I drove to work...it was gross and made me cry because I couldn't stop to avoid the poor thing. I then had a student punch another student - breaking his nose...blood everywhere in the classroom. I finished the day by having to cover gym class. The mile jog with the students was amazing stress relief after a rough start!

The bird dented my hood, but our maintenance man is awesome - he took my van and cleaned off the remains and popped the dent out of my hood It could have been much worse....our Spanish teacher hit a deer on the way to school yesterday. She's okay, but her car isn't.

Anyway, back to the important stuff, DISNEY!
The 19th will be our 3rd park ticket, though I was REALLY tempted NOT to schedule a park on this day so we could enjoy the resort. Epcot is one of my favorite parks, but it's "luke warm" for the boys. I figure we'll do the hit their ride favorites during our morning tour, then tour WS after dinner. We have a 6:25 ADR for Beirgarten - new for the boys and Brian, and really a new place for me. I ate there WAY back the first year it opened, so I don't really remember much.

Nolan's Must Do's : Test Track (it was closed for refurb last time), and "The Giant Golf Ball"
Patrick's List: Mission Space "BOTH SIDES!", Soarin'
Cullen's List: Living with the Land, Figment * He was too tiny to ride any of the "big rides" last visit, so he's "unsure" of them.
Brian: Test Track and 3 Caballeros
Me: Test Track and Visa Character meet and Greet

The discussion about Mission Space went like this:
"Mom, will you ride with me? I don't think they'll let a SEVEN year old ride alone"
"Um...I think Dad likes that ride" (I'm REALLY clausterphobic - like I can't even handle elevators without breaking into a cold sweat).
"Dad, You'll ride with me?"
"Which ride is it again? Do I get to shoot lasers at Zurg?"
"No, it's where you travel to OUTER space...in a SPACE Ship!"

Brian, turns slightly green, and turned to me: "I rode that with your Dad.....after a huge breakfast at Chef Mickey's....and we didn't know we got in line for the "intense" side - we just picked the shortest line"

Notice - we don't have a breakfast ADR for Chef Mickey's It's been five years and he still hasn't recovered from that experience

So....that leads me to the next question, will he and Nolan be able to ride it without an adult if we wait in line with them, and wait at the exit for them? I'm going to try REALLY hard to ride with them, but I'm worried I won't be able to do it.

I'm going to try to schedule our FP+'s for the early part of the day, knowing we're going to go back and rest/swim etc and return in time to check in for our ADR. After dinner, we'll tour the WS countries, see if the boys want to do a Secret Agent P mission...or two, and stay for the fireworks. Because we're at a monorail resort, it shouldn't be too difficult to close the park (assuming the boys can make it until 9) and head back to the resort.

Great plans, Melissa! Good luck with your Mission!. That thing always make me a little green.

P.S. I've hit both birds and deer. It's been a while but the last time I hit a deer it was in a convertible. That is not a pretty memory.......

Glad you and the car are okay after your bird encounter-- very sad and very messy! Good luck getting the boys on MS without having to escort a sick parent off at the end.

What a hectic week you've had!

Mission Space is not my thing. I've refused to ride either side of it.

I will say this about Mission Space: It won't help you, but it was so incredibly tame on the Green Side, I guarantee Brian will be able to handle it.

I am glad you are getting to Biergarten! We are still trying a way to fit it into our trip, but so many new places keep coming up we want to try. And Cape May we are not allowed to sacrifice, so... not sure what we are going to do.

I wouldn't except I don't think Brian will be able to stomach it. It took him the better part of the day to feel okay afterwards...probably didn't help that we'd had a huge breakfast before arriving at the park.

I'm sad that Cape May didn't make the cut...again. It's the third trip, but without the dining plan...so it's on our "next trip list"....again.

Sorry about the yucky bird encounter...can't believe some of the things that happen. Crazy! Thank goodness for the great maintenance man - I would not have wanted to deal with that bird remains.

As for Mission Space - good luck. Been on it once & i have sine rely blocked it out. As for everything you do for the boys - price of being a good hands on parent I suppose. If it makes you feel better, we are drawing straws to see who takes JB on the tea cups bc none of us like them or anything that spins. Lol

Oh dear, poor bird and poor you. And, I can't imagine the stress of the fight in the classroom. So upsetting for you. I stayed away from Mission Space all together for years, until a friend told me the green side was similar to Star Tours in roughness, and I loved Star Tours. So, I tried it and that is definitely so. I ride it regularly now. It is just as claustrophobic as the orange side though. Hopefully, Brian can do the green side with the boys and they will just have to forego the orange side. After all, they need to compromise as well.
