PTR: Spring Break in the Bubble (Updated 4/10/15) - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I feel like vacation starts as soon as I leave the office on the last day before vacation, and adding a night at a hotel before the flight makes it even that much more 'vacationy'
Well, if you can't eat at Via Napoli I think the F&GF booths would be a great alternate
And The Village People...How Fun!!
Looks like another great trip. Some great plans already in the works! Perhaps, we will cross paths over at the DME line as I will be departing for Port Canaveral around 10 am (as I mentioned in your other TR)!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Plans look great! I hope the timing works out and Emily gets her Space Mountain ride in to start the trip off right. When I saw the list of the bands for the festival the one I thought would be the most fun was Village People!
I love staying at the airport the night before our trip. Growing up, we lived about an hour from the airport. We would always go stay at a hotel near the airport the night before. Like you, we would leave our car there and then we could head out nice and early the next morning. It added an extra night to the trip and got the vacation kick-started early! We would always try and get all of our homework done at the hotel and on the plane on the way there so we didn't have to worry about it the rest of the trip (we never had a full week of spring break, so we were always missing some school!).

Our First Day Plans (Sunday, 4/12):
(I still can't bring myself to not have instant contact with my bags!!! A little OCD )
This is so me too. However, I don't like even parting with them at all. When we took our 1st Disney Cruise, I panicked about leaving the luggage with the baggage handlers even though they were just loading it onto the boat. And, of course, since I was paranoid - one of my bags didn't arrive with my other bags so I really went into a tizzy. Then, when it finally arrived, it had been beaten up pretty bad. Disney was kind enough to replace the bag though.
Great 1st day plans!! I am a hit the ground running kinda girl too. And I keep going til the end. Just never enough time when in the bubble!
So awesome and jealous that you are gonna see the Village People! I second on taking lots of pictures!

Can't wait to read more about the upcoming trip. I've been reading the report from y'alls summer trip last year and couldn't wait to start another.
My wife and I are like y'all in that we like to go up the night before (it's about a 2-3/4 to 3 hour drive to the airport from where we live). And you have to fly out early to pack as much park as you can into the first day.
For our June trip, we're flying out at 6:10 a.m. and landing at 9:45, about like y'all are this time. So, we're staying at the airport and doing a park and fly.
Can't wait to read more about the trip as it inches closer.

Thanks! Yes, it makes it so much easier to stay the night before, especially if you have a 3 hour drive!!!

Sorry I missed updating yesterday - it's been a bit crazy here - between the craft room/office renovations and then Joie's fiance's mom passed away on Tuesday - she had been sick on and off with medical issues, but it was still unexpected, and very sad. His father also passed just a few years ago around the same time of the month. So I have been helping Joie with getting photo boards and such for the service this weekend. Tom was possibly going to come with us on this trip (depending on his work schedule, and his mother's health) so I am not sure if he will join us now or not (I think it's a good idea to get away ). We have all our dining ressies for 6ppl just in case, so we will see. I didn't even approach the subject yet.
Onto our plans for Day 2, Monday 4/13:
We will start our day at Animal Kingdom (not sure yet what we will do for breakfast, if we will just grab something from our room, or stop at a CS).
Our fastpasses are:
9:50 - 10:50 Kilimanjaro Safari
11:00 - 12:00 Dinosaur
12:05 - 1:05 Expedition Everest
I am sure that after we exit the safari, we will walk through Pangani Forest Trail to try to see the baby gorillas, and Lily! I am so excited to see the new babies, so I am really hoping they will be out!
I am also hoping to see a few characters along the way today as we wander in between our fastpasses. And I would bet money that the girls will jump back into the Single Rider line for Expedition Everest to ride multiple times if time allows.
Not sure if we will have lunch in the park or not - I am SUPER BUMMED that my favorite, Flame Tree BBQ will still be closed for refurb .
We are planning to head back to the resort late afternoon for a quick pool break before we head back to Epcot for the evening.
Dinner tonight will be at La Hacienda. Scott, Emily & I have eaten here a few times and LOVE it . This will be a first for Joie & Caitlin, but they love mexican food - so I am looking forward to sharing this with them!
Of course Epcot closes at 9pm tonight, so we will probably try to catch Illuminations and just head back to the resort at park closing.
Up Next: Day 3 plans
