Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So excited for your stay at the Poly and will be looking forward to pictures from all over with the new changes. Your dining choices sound delish too! And I haven't been to the F&GF in years because it would be a choice between taking the boys out of school for a week or going during spring break. Although, now that Tyler will be starting high school we might have to brave the crowds (because I don't know if I can get Craig back in the summer) and at least we'd have the F&GF to look forward to and now with the food booths too!

DL might also be a choice for us in summer 2016 so I'm looking forward to that trip of yours already too!
back! The food booths have been such a great addition to the F&GF. I've actually been telling Luke all the pictures I want to take at the Poly, which makes me think I might need to make a list prior to the trip. Luke and I both have dreamed of visiting DL since we were kids, so we can't wait.

We used to see a few of the topiaries left over in early June back when it lasted later in May. I'm just happy it's last weekend is also the first SWW, so we get both.

A few topiaries were lit last year, but I struggled with my photos. I may need to take a tripod with me one evening this year.

We usually schedule an ADR in or near MK to finish off the trip. This summer it will be at the Plaza Restaurant before catching DME back to the airport. I'm hoping to schedule a future trip in April to take advantage of Flower and Garden Festival. We went once in 2009 and loved it at that time of year!
Hope the late start plan works for you all, too. We just wear down more quickly as the trip goes on.

We've never driven away from WDW as when we drove in December we headed home from the port. I'll have to report how it feels. DL will definitely be a different version of the Cam and Luke fall trip.

3. The new Frozen topiaries look incredible in all the photos I’ve seen so far.

4. New mini gardens have been added, including a Shakespeare garden (If I were still teaching, I’m sure I’d find a new lesson here.), pepper garden (We peppers.), and a health garden.

5. A Garden Rocks concert with Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone.

6. Merchandise exclusive to the festival at the Festival Center and kiosks in the World Showcase. Specifically, I’ll be checking out the limited edition F&GF Dooney & Bourke bags (These are really cute in black on white with Mickey riding an old-time bicycle.), an AP exclusive t-shirt, F&GF pin, garden stepping stones, and shopping bags.

7. Taking many photographs of flowers, topiaries, and butterflies.

NEXT: F&GF Food Booths (This would make 8 things I’m excited about, but it needs a whole post for itself. )
I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE some photos of the Shakespeare garden to update my Shakespeare power point. Things like this help bring "real life" to an "old, dead white guy" for my students I used a picture of the Globe taken by a darling PP'r (Thanks again Cheryl!) and my students ate it up because it made him come alive in a new way.

If I remember correctly what I've read, the flowers in the Shakespearean garden are reference to a number of his plays. So I'll take lots of pictures here.

F&GF Food Booths

I have been watching the Disney Food Blogs site all winter, looking for specifics and pictures for the 2015 Flower & Garden Festival food booths. As soon as I saw in March that the writers had been to the F&GF, I was ready to read their reviews of each booth. The bonus is they take great pictures of everything they eat. Maybe I should get them to give me some tips on food photography. Of course, I pulled out my trusty notebook to record my favorites. Remember: Luke and I will have three days in Epcot, so we can spread our favorites out over those three visits rather than trying to sample it all in one day.

1. Botanas Botanico: Cachapas with Farmer’s Cheese; White Corn Arepa with Braised Beef and Chayote Slaw; Monte Paschoal Natural Brut White Sparkling Wine

2. Urban Farm Eats: Kale Salad with Dried Cherries, Almonds, and Goat Cheese with White Balsamic Vinaigrette

3.
Pineapple Promenade: Pineapple Dog – Spicy hot dog with Pineapple Chutney and Sriracha Mayo

4.
Fleur de Lys: Gnocchi Parisien a la Provencal – Dumplings with veggies and mushrooms; Ice Pop – French Iced Tea, Grand Marnier Peach Raspberry Liqueur and Vodka (Luke, not me); Kir Imperial – Sparkling Wine, Chambord and Black Raspberry Liquor (Cam)

5.
Taste of Marrakesh: Harissa Chicken Kebab with Couscous Salad; Desert Rose – Sparkling Wine with Pomegranate Liqueur

6.
Hanami: ??? Nothing really appeals to us here, but we’ll check once again when we are there.

7.
The Smokehouse: Barbecues and Brews: Beef Brisket Burnt Ends with White Cheddar Fondue and Pickled Jalapenos; Smoked Debreziner Sausage with Housemade Kraut and Mustard

8.
Primavera Kitchen: Fior di Latte, Prosciutto e Pane di Casa – Pinwheel of Mozzarella, Prosciutto, Ciabatta bread; Cheese Manicotti – Egg past stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, tomato sauce, and béchamel; Prosecco

9.
Lotus House: Kung Pao Chicken Bun; Vegetable Spring Roll

10.
Jardin de Fiestas: Tacos al pastor – Corn tortilla filled with achiote – marinated pork, garnished with grilled diced pineapple, onions, and cilantro and salsa verde; Flan de queso con chocolate Abuelita – Mexican chocolate custard with whipped cream and cinnamon; Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita on the Rocks

11.
Florida Fresh: Key Lime Sparkling Wine

12.
Intermission Café: See #6 Hanami.

A lot of the tapas dishes, Luke and I will share, though a few he has selected for their hot factor will not be shared as I’m not into hot as much as he is.

Sidenote:

We are leaving early tomorrow morning for Glasgow to help June and John in finishing up the boxing of Dad’s basement. I’m really hoping that the five of us can manage to complete the job tomorrow, but we are packing a change of clothes in case we need to stay and work on Thursday. The sale is on April 18th so we are quickly running out of time. With this coming weekend being Easter, we don’t plan to work. For June’s peace of mind, getting done this week would be a blessing. Because we’ll be gone, my next update probably won’t be up until Friday.

NEXT: What I’m most excited about for at Animal Kingdom

Some nice offerings at the booths. Some of them I'd definitely dive into. Unfortunately, I didn't have much chance to experience these on my Spring trip last year as the one day I had a lot of time in Epcot was when I had dinner at Victoria & Albert's, which was an early dinner and being a big tag and meal, even with the pace. I had to save my stomach for that! Hopefully, my next trip to WDW, I can experience some of this as so many of the booths seem so appetizing! Good luck with everything the rest of the week and hope all goes well!

Wonder if the pineapple chutney and siracha mayo is the same as on the pork sliders at F&WF? And sparkling key lime wine?! Yum!! The non-sparkling key lime made my top 10 list if I'm remembering right!

Good luck with packing up this weekend.

Sparkling Key Lime Wine sounds like a winner! I'm sure I can get that in Key West on my first Port stop in under two weeks time!

Nice choices from the booths - I loved the fruishi (I think was the name of it) from Hanami, but it's definitely an acquired taste, so I can understand if that doesn't appeal....

Some yummy treats there! Good luck with getting your dad's house squared away. I know everyone will be relieved when that task is done.
