The Many Adventures of the Ayers’ Family - Oct 2014 TR - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh, wow, Jaime!!!! I can't believe he drove her all the way home! I can't believe she told you to shut up either!
I am so sorry that this is how your trip started out!
I am hoping that once your DH got back it was the best it could be the rest of the week!
Yes, I was scared for him to go alone, but he assured me that he would be fine. And her telling me to shut up pushed me over the edge...I can put up with a lot, but I will not tolerate being told to "shut up" in such a disrespectful way.
I can honestly say that after that morning, the trip was so much better and more relaxing. I'll get into part 2 of that day soon

I tried...I really did try to tolerate it, but once she had pushed me to my breaking point, I had enough. My DH is the type that doesn't let anything bother him, but once his mother became disrespectful towards me, he had enough as well. I just don't understand how someone can't be happy at Disney World. On a good note, the day turned out to be much better after that.

Oh Jaime, I'm so sorry to hear that you were treated that way. Especially after you had paid for her trip. Hopefully you were able to enjoy the rest of the afternoon even though I'm sure you were worried about your DH.
I cannot believe DMil's behavior & I know I would NOT have been able to keep quiet if I was told to shut up. Glad to hear that DH had a safe trip taking DMil home & back to you guys in WDW. I really hope this trip starts to get magical for you guys now!

Like my DH told me, it's an expensive lesson to learn and we won't be inviting her to go along with us again. I was extremely worried about my DH and I made him call or text me at each of his stops. He made it back safely and I was relieved.

I wanted to say something, but the fact that my DS was there kept me from being nasty back at her. DH was safe and our trip turned around after that!
More to come

Oh my goodness, I can't believe she spoke to you like that but honestly, you tolerated so much more than I could've done. I was just admiring your patience as I read this, thinking that I'd have snapped before then, so I'm really not surprised at what your DH did. I think it was probably for the best and I really hope things got better from there on in.
This was my reaction when I read what she told you I mean, WOW. I don't know how you could show so much restraint. Too bad your DH had to take her back home but I think it was for the best. Her mood would've ruined the rest of the trip.

I tried to remain calm and be tolerate, but as soon as she said, "shut up"...my patience meter went to ZERO and I almost said some choice words. My DSis grabbed my hand and held it, as if to say...count to 3 and breathe. My DH was very adamant on taking her home right then. We've talked about this situation a few times since all this happened and we feel we made the right decision...I had to salvage the remaining days of my vacation. Things get a lot better after this morning.

I actually impressed myself with how much restraint I had. I had to keep reminding myself that I was in a public place and there were a lot of witnesses....I am kidding of course, but I did try to tolerate as much as I could. It just became too much for me to deal with in a 24 hour span. DH made it home and back to Disney safely and we enjoyed the rest of our trip...
Much more details coming soon

I am so relieved to hear that, as you deserve some happier times, after the start you had to this vacation.
I am so sorry your MiL was making a pain of herself. We never use Shut up as we totally agree it is a sign of disrespect. In fact, one time Stefanie was staying with my DSis June when someone else used that expression.. June told me Stefanie turned to her and ask her to tell this person to quit cussing. I think your DH did the right thing taking his mother home.
So sorry about your MiL's attitude. Very glad your DH took matters into his own hands and took her home. Best of all, glad he got back to you ok and that the rest of the vacation turned itself around!

Agreed!

Yes, while it was a long drive for him, he felt that it was the right thing to do. I did wish that he would have let me go with him, but he didn't think that having his mom and me in the car together would have been a great idea.

Yes, I'm glad you agree with me. I'm glad that DH took his mom home (that sounds very selfish). He did miss a lot that day, but my next update will cover what happened when he left.

More adventures coming up soon!

Gosh, what an nightmare! Lots of pixies for you! Kudos to your DH for taking your MiL home, but sorry that he missed time he should have been at Disney with you guys!
