1 if by Land, 2 if by Sea - A Coop/ChukkerB PTR - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Naturally - I'll even post those pics for you up on FB. Too bad you couldn't come down this time. That would've been Epic! You, me, elbodans, and Cam! Serious drinking, eating and shopping would have been done!

Ok, so this past weekend has been a busy one! Final preparations and all.
Friday, I went to the bank and put $$$ on our prepaid travel cards and got some cash out as well (for tips - housekeeping, bell services, room service etc). After that, I went to the liquor store to pick up some FAB's to bring with us (the cruise lets you carry it on). Then I went to CVS to pick up some double edge blades for Chuck's straight razor. When I got home, Chuck wasn't far behind me coming home from work. We then went to Joann's (Fabric/Craft store) and picked up some stuff for our costumes. We got stuff to make a wreath/crown for Chuck and some fabric for contrasting color for our togas. We also got some cord for ties and some "no sew" stuff to hem the togas. The lady who was cutting our fabric told us how to get some coupons. Each coupon was "off one item" so I wondered if we had enough items for all the coupons and we did. We had 2- 50%, 2- 40%, 2-20% and 1-10%. It STILL came to $77 ! It would have been over $130 without the coupons though- so in the end, we did well! After our shopping trip, we went over to Five Guys for dinner and then picked up some ice cream from Cold Stone to bring home so we could have dessert while watching Disney movies!
Saturday, I was up way too early (for me). But wanted to get a start on things. I roasted chicken for my chicken and dumplings, and I prepped the meat for meat pies. I just couldn't get going and didn't end up doing a whole bunch. I did manage a nap though! Chuck was busy busy busy! He worked on the spare room upstairs and the basement which was still a mess due to the flood, but now it looks awesome! Our music area is back! That will make DS happy - he can play his drums. That might not make the neighbors happy though - LOL! Later that night, I made the headpiece for Chuck. I think it turned out nice.
Sunday was my turn to get on the ball! I made 6 quarts of Chicken and Dumplings, 16 meat pies, 2 meat loaves, 2 trays of cookie bars all for the kids while we are gone. Then I made our dinner - roasted beet/acorn squash over shredded brussel sprout salad and spinach and cheese tortellini alfredo. We had left over pasta/alfredo so I added that to the freezer meals for the kids as well. Keep this in mind - I have a very small kitchen with not much counter space and no dishwasher. I was busy just keeping up with myself!
Today, I'm going to start my packing, go over the bills for the next 3 weeks, hopefully get my printer going so I can print off our things for the cruise and I want to "no sew" the togas.
Tomorrow - I have to work 3p-3a. Final day at work!
Wednesday - I plan to use for last minute things. I was going to run to the store to get last minute stuff (i.e. milk, munchies, etc) Chuck is leaving me the van, so I will take it for a wash and then start packing it up! Kids are coming over in the evening and Chuck will bring home a pizza (we have a local place that is as good as Via Napoli). We will be going to bed early, early early. I hope to get some sleep - but we plan to hit the road really early - like 3 am! This would allow us to hopefully miss rush hour in Atlanta and still make it to our hotel in Valdosta at a decent hour.
So that is it! 4 more busy days and we are on our way! We are so ready for this vacation! If you follow me on FB - I may be posting some pics there as we go. Pics of margaritas for Lisa and pics of sunshine for all my friends in the cold north! I may update here when I get a chance, but for the most part I plan on being on vacation. Definitely unplugged during the cruise.
Someone asked me what I was most excited about. It was hard to answer. All of it. The drive, because Chuck and I do road trips so well together and it will be a time to decompress and spend time together. WDW because I want to see all the changes going on. F&WF - because we haven't really done that and I want to experience it. Our meet ups - we are going to try to meet Cam/Luke and elbodans. We also have some people from work/home that we may meet up with as well. The cruise - because I have never been on one. CastAway Cay - because I want to play in the water, sand and be on a tropical island. Even coming home - because I know I will have missed my babies and will probably be ready to be home. So yeah - all of it.
Thanks for following - if I don't post again, see ya on the flip side.
Sounds like you're all set - and I'm really impressed with everything you got done over the weekend. It puts our weekend to shame, as we spent much of it just relaxing.
