1 if by Land, 2 if by Sea - A Coop/ChukkerB PTR - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Good luck at the appointment! I'm with you on other Disney sites. I don't spend time anywhere but here and allearsnet.com these days. Too much squabbling!!
I love the apron idea too!
Good luck with the appointment!
I have been on some sites on FB as well that have has some really rude people respond to posts. Mainly that their question is stupid! There are a lot of people out there that aren't Disney veterans and have no idea how it all works, etc. So I was just really put out with how many people were just flat out rude to other members. I have removed myself from a lot of them now. To me if you have a love of Disney, you are not rude and hateful!!!
Good luck with your doctor appointment today! Hope you get some positive feedback from the doctor Cute idea for the apron. Glad to hear that Chuck found another pair of comfortable shoes for Disney! Some of the other boards out there get nasty, so I generally just check out other sites for factual information for upcoming trips. This is the best place for Disney friendships
Not going to say anything about Coop's appointment. She's gonna explain it all very soon. I just have to tell you how brave She is, and how proud of her I am.

Exactly! They are just trying to stir things up. That's so not necessary.

First things first. Thank you all for your support. This is a trying time but more because I don't know what's going on rather than the cosmetic aspect. I did get to see the Dermatologist and he was pretty vague. He said he THINKS it is Alopecia Areata however in AA the areas are completely to-the-skin bald. I actually have some hairs still there. He looked at the area and pulled some hairs to see how easily they came out. He recommended that we TRY some steroid lotion topically. Then recheck in 2.5 months and IF that doesn't work then we will have to have a biopsy and maybe try some steroid injections directly into the scalp. AA is found in only 0.1%-0.2% of people and is basically an autoimmune disease. He asked if I had any other autoimmune diseases - indicating that maybe my hypothyroidism is autoimmune as well, however I've never been tested officially. Now my question is why is my body attacking itself? Is is TRULY alopecia areata? If it isn't, WHAT is it? So although we are on a path, I feel like I have just as many questions as before. But hey - I'm giving it a shot. The doctor told me that he had the same in his beard and that he used the lotion and shaved and it grew back. I told him I was going to shave my head and he was stunned! LOL! I told him "Yeah - you know, a G.I.Jane. I've done it before" He kind of said "whatever" and laughed. I think he was just amazed that someone (a woman) would do that. It's just hair. So yesterday, I did. I went to the hairdresser and since it was a new girl (my regular girl is on maternity), I had to explain everything to her. I'm not afraid of short, short short hair. Get out your clippers because if you don't, I WILL go home and shave it myself. I've done it before and I pulled out pictures on my phone to prove it. I told her that I had this spot and I'm tired of trying to hide it and "comb over" Hair regrowth in AA is at least 6 months to 1 year and I'm not going to be fussing for that long. I think she did an excellent job. She did exactly as I wanted and she gave me a scalp, head and neck massage. Then she did my pedicure as well! She had such a great touch. I have had pedicures where I've gone home hurting and so I was hesitant to have another. I hadn't had one since our last trip (December 2013)! Now, I know WHO to ask for! So anyhow, after my haircut, I noticed a couple other "patches" of thinning. So I'm wondering if those are going to progress as well. Here are some pictures of the new do.
(notice the extra patches toward the front? - yeah, I did too )
Now on to better things, our FP+ picks!
We arrive Fri 10/24 so nothing then, just Boma for dinner

Mon 11/3 - Breakfast at the Mara, Check out and then hit the road to Port Canaveral! (Check in there around 11:30 I think)
Progress on the lists is going well. We got our costumes. They look good, Chuck may just wear the top with jeans because his pants keep falling down -LOL! I don't like the hat that was included with mine, so I'll probably just wear a bandana instead. It's all good fun. I got fabric paint markers for the apron that are washable so hopefully that means they won't run/smear. Did our online check in for the cruise. We chose to do an excursion in Nasseau instead of staying on the boat. We are going to do the Graycliff Chocolate Factory Tour! Sounds like yummy fun - you get to make some chocolates and take them with you! We also reserved a package on Castaway Cay of tube floaties, snorkel stuff and an hour bike rental. I told Chuck that I'd also like to do a class or something on the ship - maybe a mixology or wine tasting. We couldn't get Palo brunch or Remy brunch all booked up. But I'm also going to look into a day pass for the Rainforest Room.
I know this has been a packed, long winded update. But just finalizing everything. Now to get through ACLS, working a 4-12 hour day weekend, and a play for Chuck. Then we can coast! It just feels a bit frantic right now. Again, thanks for following and all the positive thoughts and pixies. They are so appreciated. You guys are the best!
It's frustrating when you have one of these medical issues that doesn't have an easy fix. We're so programmed into thinking that you can take a pill or have surgery or DO something for just about anything. Doesn't always work that way. I think you're dealing with it fabulously and are really rocking the GI Jane look! Your trip is sounding so amazing and I'm excited for you both!
