As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your vantage point for the parade was great for performers and floats. It looks like you were standing in Liberty Square on the castle side facing the Liberty Tree and the Christmas shop. Beautiful location.
Great parade photos. We have FP+ for the parade one afternoon in September. We did this in April also. DW got the best shot of the fire. I hope to get a good one this time.
I will let you in on a spoiler....I saw him blow fire the next day. I am assuming he only does it a few times during the parade route.

Where were you sitting? It looked like a great spot! I never know where to sit and I don't like to mess with Main Street.
It is a fabulous parade. We were sitting in Liberty Square across from the Christmas shop. But if you want to see him blow fire, I think a better chance will be near the hub.

I have since looked for more info and it seems that is exactly what happened. Originally the soundtrack has Sleeping Beauty music too and I heard it has since changed to Frozen Music.

So glad you saw it blow.....I did get to see it blow the next day so I was happy.

We love Beaches and Cream! We think the whole boardwalk area is pretty magical. Your nighttime pictures at DHS looked awesome!
We love 'Ohana, too. When we ate breakfast there a few years ago with our boys we had some great character interactions. Pluto was a hoot and my boys enjoyed him.
Your MK day is off to a great start! The parade photos are awesome. We missed that parade on our last trip. Boo!
The Boardwalk area is great and we really need to spend some more time there.
That breakfast was so much better than the last time we tried it.
You must make time for the parade if you can.

I had a weird angle the 2nd time we saw it too.

We thought about a Dole Whip Float, but the line was just way to long so we moved on. We were a little bit hungry and we knew were weren’t going to make it till our ADR, which I think was around 7PM, so we went in search of something to help take care of that need.
We ended up just going in Pecos Bills for some food. The lines were long everywhere and we just sucked it up and got in one here. I swear this is one of the slowest serving places though….good thing I like the food here.
My small snack turned into a meal.
We shared the fries, but Claire got some chili.
The burgers here are so good….and I am craving one right now.
We had a few friends in the area while we ate.
With our bellies now full we moved on again.
It was time for our next Fastpass of the day…Peter Pan.
I tried to get a picture of the screen the CM’s look at when they scan your band.
It’s just too dark on Peter Pan, so I pretty much have given up on taking pictures, but we enjoyed the ride, even though it is way too short.
They had been repainting the peaks on the castle and it was neat to see the changes throughout the week. I had seen pictures before we had arrived and all the turrets were stripped and then grey for a few days and slowly, one by one, they were turning back to blue.
Hello Mr. Bird.
It was just so crowded and everything had a long wait, so I mentioned to Claire that maybe we should’ve just taken a longer cruise and maybe in the future, if we come at this time of year, we’ll just skip the parks. She had a look of horror on her face. She said we could NEVER skip the parks. LOL. Well it was good the crowds weren’t getting her down.
We decided to get in line for Dumbo now.
When we got to the waiting room area, I told the CM we did not want to go in there, he said I didn’t have a choice. Ugh. Last time we were given a choice and we chose not to. As we walked in, Claire told me I better not force her to play on anything in there. LOL……I won’t. It’s extremely on the babyish side. We walked to the far left corner and sat on a bench away from everyone else and I handed Claire the beeper.
I don't think we have ever eaten at Peco's Bills. Looked good!
I know we are contemplating skipping our CA trip next summer and going to see my parents in FL and driving down to Orlando to go to Universal to check out Harry Potter, but it would be so hard to be in Orlando and not go to any Disney parks!
The castle's turrets are looking such a pretty blue! We had the same experience with Dumbo this past May. The trip before we could bypass the playroom. I didn't enjoy the waiting in that area as we didn't even have a child, so it maybe quite a while before I'm ready to ride again.

I am back from a very busy and hot weekend in Florida. I had a good time, learned at the seminar and met up with some people and had plenty of alone time too. Things didn't go as planned...as my plane arived later than I had hope for on Friday, but I just went with the flow. I also had a treat on Sunday and was able to slip into another park for a while first thing in the morning. If you follow me on facebook, you probably already know what I did. Universal was great too and love the new Gringotts ride. I will do a TR for this, but I haven't even taken the pictures off the camera...but I will probably try to do this one right away since it was a short weekend....and I did take less pictures than normal...I think. I'll try to update here today or tomorrow.
