Escaping The Brutal Northeast For Sunny, Warm Florida and Fun! Completed 7/12 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad MDE was easy to use. Glad you got the tee times you wanted. My dad always does the two round pass special too!
The two round pass is a good deal, but still not cheap, but expected at Disney or a resort!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Today is a big day as I’m now at the 60 day mark until my trip begins! What does that mean? Well, I can officially go on the Disney site to MDE and finally make my Fastpass+ selections! I’m just wondering....Can I get everything I want? We shall see. The other thing is with my golf reservations and how much they will be as an obstacle to each other? I’m paying for the golf and not for Fastpass+ so the golf gets priority.
So I went over to MDE and see how easy it would be to make these selections. There was a few steps to go through such as selecting your first date, theme park, time of day and then your three selections. On my golf days I tried to make these between my golf and dinner ADRs. Who knows how this scheduling will work out once I get there. It was relatively easy to make the Fastpass+ selections, but had to go back and make changes as some were too early and others too late. So I just switched them around a bit. Took a while to get used to using the modification function, but worked out well and pretty much got what I wanted. So here they are!:
Saturday, March 29-Hollywood Studios
Tower of Terror:12:40-1:40
Toy Story MM: 1:40-2:40
Star Tours: 2:40-3:40
Hope my flight arrives on time and no problems at check in and all will be good.
Sunday, March 30-Magic Kingdom
BTMRR: 3:35-4:35
Splash Mt: 4:35-5:35
Space Mt: 5:35-6:35
Today is my first golf day, so these are a bit later. I’m not betting that all these will work out!
Monday, March 31-Animal Kingdom
K Safari: 3-4
Primeval Whirl: 4:25-5:25
Dinosaur: 5:35-6:35
Another golf day and with an ADR at the California Grill at 7:30, I wouldn’t be surprised if this completely changes. May be a mistake on my part. Usually better to go to the AK on a complete free day unless I’m staying at the AK or CSR. Have to deal with the extra stop at Blizzard Beach, which is a pain in the neck at times.
Tuesday, April 1-Epcot
Spaceship: 10:30-11:30
Soarin: 11:30-12:30
Living/Land: 12:30-1:30 and 1:10-2:10
Today is another free day, so plenty of time to spend at Epcot! The last Fastpass+ was odd as I wound up with two Fastpass+ reservations for this as I edited the time and the other was never removed. Why couldn’t this have been Soarin?
Wednesday, April 2-Hollywood Studios
Movie Ride: 2-3
RNR RC: 3:40-4:40
Tower of Terror: 4:40-5:40
Last day of golf today. The first one, I’d most certainly would not be able to do as I doubt if I’d get back to POR before 3 pm. I also have an ADR in DTD at 7:15 so going to Studios may be tough! I also want to spend some time before dark in DTD to see all the new changes they’ve made there.
Thursday, April 3-Magic Kingdom
Space Mt: 10:10-11:10
Barnstormer: 11:10-12:10
Jungle Cruise: 12:50-1:50
Today is another free day, so I’d probably be able to do all these. Plan on a lunch ADR here as well. I have an ADR at Jiko at 7:30 tonight as well, so I may have time for a bit of the AK as well, once I return to POR and pack for the trip home and make a call to airline baggage services to pay for my extra bag.
Friday, April 4-Epcot
Mission Space: 10:30-11:30
Test Track: 1:30-2:30
Nemo: 2:30-3:30
It’s flying home day, but want to pack as much as I can on my last day in Epcot. I have an ADR at Teppan Edo at 12:30, so the reason for the gap in time between the first two. Depending how quick, I can have my bags picked up and brought to Airline Resort Check In will be the difference in getting to Epcot at a good time. Mission Space is usually easy to walk on to as the wait times are short for Green and Orange lines.
So there you have it and hope for the most part these work out! I’m not betting on it as this is something new for me and most of us here!
NEXT: More ADRs and Other Planning!
