A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 80 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry about Luke's allergies, hopefully he will find that they improve when you are in WDW as I did. It was nice to get out of all the pollen for a while! You are well on your way to being ready. Not much longer now and I am so excited for you two, you will love it!

I could tell Luke was feeling some better this afternoon when he came into the kitchen as I was cooking dinner to tell me this time in two weeks we should be arriving at Wilderness Lodge. Hopefully, each day he feels better.
Exactly two weeks from today, Luke and I will arrive in Orland around 4:25 PM, and hopefully arrive at the Wilderness Lodge about an hour or so later.
On this day in Disney history 1997, the restaurant in Walt Disney World's Cinderella Castle was renamed Cinderella's Royal Table. Originally it was called King Stefan's Banquet Hall, but King Stefan was actually Sleeping Beauty's father ... not Cinderella's! We dined here on our first trip with Stefanie in August 1997, thoroughly enjoying our time with Cinderella and our delicious meals. I was actually amazed that I got the reservation only 3 weeks before we arrived.
Today is one of those gloomy, rainy spring days, and all the tasks I’d set for myself were outdoors. Needless to say, those tasks will have to wait. But we’ve been making good use of the time to watch Disney movies we own, but have never watched. First was Pirate Fairy followed by John Carter (I know we’ve been lazy because we’ve had this one since it was first released.) Late this afternoon the mail arrived with some Disney fun. Last week when my Disney Movie Reward newsletter arrived, some new rewards were available: Britto luggage tags. Luke chose Donald Duck and I picked Tinker Bell (no surprise there).
Another new reward that I ordered was Disney’s Nature: African Cats, a Blu-Ray I’ve wanted since it came out. We just might have to watch that before our trip, too.

I hope you and Luke have a marvelous time. I think I would actually welcome a little bit of my allergies this year, because that would mean that spring has sprung in my neck of the woods -which it hasn't . No leaves on trees yet! and the heat still has to remain on in my house. I can't remember a worse winter/spring season in my entire life. I know that all I do is complain, but this is ridiculous...We have been trying to work on a front yard garden area - complete with some fairy furniture. I have some Disney charm I plan to add to it as well.
Can't wait to hear all about your trip when you return!!

Wow! Just two weeks until you are in the bubble! I have about six weeks. I love those luggage tags. After seeing your pictures I immediately went to Disney Movie Rewards to see how many points I needed to get one of my own. LOL Jamie talked me out of it in favor of saving up for more free movies. ~sigh~
Nice little update! We'll be getting the rain you have tomorrow and through at least Thursday and a bit of Friday! The forecast here for Wednesday is about 4 " of the wet stuff! The other days, will be showers, but will add up. Will be wishing for the sun rather soon!
The temps will be all over the place with highs the next three days of 58, 47 (amazing being the last day of April in CT. This isn't Alaska, but I'm starting to wonder, where I really am now and 72 on May 1st!. Reat of the week in mid 60's, which is normal). Average temp. of 70 is May 15, to give you an idea.
Cam, I hope you avoided most of the turbulent weather in your area as they had in the Southeast yesterday in Arkansas and parts of the midwest. I heard there were tornadoes again in Joplin, Missouri. Makes me think of the two great PP's we lost to those horrific storms a few years ago (Spring 2011, I think) in the same town. Unbelievable and so sad as I remember them so well here! Unfortunately, they occur far too often in areas like that.

I hope Luke starts feeling better *soon*! Allergies are the pits. I take meds year round for them (I'm allergic to many things), but I usually get super sick in the spring and fall. This year, my dr. put me on Flonase early as a preventative (I've never taken it) and knock on wood, it seems to be working. Maybe something like that would help Luke? I mean, usually at this time in April, I'm coughing so much that I have to sleep on the couch for weeks, I'm miserable, etc. I have to say that this year, I've had a few times where my ears/throat would hurt, but it's gone by morning.
Yes, another "thank you" for your This Day in Disney History facts! Fun! I never put it together that King Stefan was SB's father and not Cindy's....funny! Love the luggage tags! You are getting close!
