A DREAM is a wish your heart makes...Halloween on the High Seas edition - updated 09/14/2014 - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry to hear the news about Mike. Job finding pixies coming your way! I know there isn't much to see in Nassau. When I was there, I did an excursion that went to a couple of forts, the Junkanoo museum (which to me was the best part) and the Queen's Staircase. Now I've done it, so if I return to Nassau, I'll probably stay on the ship!

Great morning so far! I enjoyed staying on board when we were in Nassau, but I do wish that we had gotten off and at least gotten some pics of us in front of the Welcome to the Bahamas sign or something. You know, to prove that we were actually there too!

Great little walking adventure in Nassau! I've never felt unsafe there, I just get exhausted saying "no thank you" so many times! for the job hunt!
I can see why people would feel a bit off if they stray from the touristy areas on foot, but I personally was ok.
Thanks for the pixies!

If we ever make it back, I'm sure we'll stay on too - so much to do on the ship anyway!
Thanks for the pixies too!

Thank you Jen!
Thaty why we got our picture in front of that building which is totally alluding me as to what it was now. The sign that's right as you get off the ship was crowded both times so I'm glad I got the other one.

I have been there with my Husband. Hang in there something will hopefully come soon.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I plan to work on the next update tomorrow as many people are going to be out of the office. Shhh!
Once back on the ship we headed to our room to get ready to hit the pool! Once in the room we saw our stateroom host had visited us and left out bandanas for pirate night later on, but we only got 3. Melissa took care of that later and gave us one of hers – either she’d gotten 4 or one of them wouldn’t be wearing it. We always enjoyed seeing how the boys’ stuffed animals would be displayed too. We got into our suits and lathered up with sunscreen and then went up to the pool deck. Another shout out to the awesome spot of our room because we just went up 2 floors to Cabanas and went to the pool from there. It was so easy & convenient!
Once on the pool deck we found Melissa & fam pretty quick. I can’t remember if she told us where they were or we just found them. Either way we were all together again. We tried to see if Lukas was tall enough for the Mickey slide, but sadly he wasn’t plus the sign said you needed to be 4. WTH? He just missed the cut off – he’d have been talk enough if he was wearing shoes. So I watched Dylan go down the slide while Mike took Lukas to Nemo’s Reef. Then when Dylan was done with Mickey we both headed to the Nemo area. The boys played together for a bit but I’m pretty sure the Aquaduck had been calling Dylan for a while. So Mike took Dylan for his first run. Lukas loved the Mr. Ray slide but ended up getting in trouble because he was going head first. Whoops!
sorry these are blurry! they were moving quick!
Once he couldn’t do that it wasn’t as much fun so we headed to the Donald pool where he played in there for a bit – the Donald pool has a ledge all the way around so he stayed there and just walked back and forth. Once Mike came back with Dylan, we switched. I mean, I wanted to try the Aquaduck too! And since I had the waterproof camera – I took photos! It really is fun. I know I rode another time and just enjoyed it that time because taking photos is hard when you’re getting water over your head. And I think Dylan rode the Aquaduck at least 6 times today. I rode with him twice, Mike did 3 times and I think on his last turn he convinced Chad to take him. I was so happy he was tall enough to ride this and was enjoying it SO much. It was also nice that they measured him once and put a colored wristband on him saying he had to ride with an adult instead of having to be measured every time.
I thought the duck feet were cute. I really wish I had water shoes though - it weirds me out to walk barefoot in wet places. ew!
going in the funnel
the view from up top
cute little story!
we're ready!
we're off!
totally soaked now
we made it!
after another go!
Soon enough our bellies were rumbling so we all went to Flo’s for lunch. I didn’t take pictures of Mike or Dylan’s food but Mike had a burger (I think) and Dylan might have had a hot dog. I had a burger and Lukas had chicken fingers. We ate in our lounge chairs and watched Brother Bear on the Funnel Vision. This is the life! After lunch Lukas had some ice cream which I think was strawberry-banana swirl.
After lunch there was a few more rides on the Aquaduck and Dylan convinced Hope to try the Mickey slide. I took them both over and saw them go up the steps together. Soon Dylan came down so I figured Hope would be next, but nope! Dylan came down 2 more times before Hope was finally brave enough to go. And as most of you read in Melissa’s TR she came down on her belly face in the water. I scooped her up quick and handed her over to Mom. I’m pretty sure she never went down that slide again.
I think this was Chad & Dylan
you can just make out Dylan in the upper right and Hope kind of in the middle
nope, this is Chad & Dylan
We’d had our fill of the water then and headed back to the room to clean up and rest. I’m assuming the boys must have fallen asleep because the next set of pictures are from when I remember exploring a bit on my own. I came back from my adventure and Mike went out on one too as the boys were still sleeping.
You had a nice, long stretch at the pool, and Dylan really made out having so many adults to take him on Aquaduck! You'll be run ragged next time when Lukas is tall enough to ride, too. Your photos of the ride and from the top-- EEEEK! Not for me! Those times of wandering up to the food windows, getting ice cream and watching movies on deck are just the best.

Tell me about it! Although maybe Dylan will be tall enough to ride with Lukas so we can take a few breaks.

He absolutely loved the aquaduck! Kid loves a waterslide - that's all he does at the resort pools.

It wasn't too bad, but water & sun does tend to wear you out. The Aquaduck is very well done and a lot of fun too!

On your list for next time! I only did it on the one ride but I think I caught enough shots that time.
GREAT afternoon at the pool! You got some great pics on the Aquaduck, love them. Chris was in charge of the waterproof camera on our trip, but the CMs always made him put the camera away, so no pictures of his rides for us
Oh, and this pic is making me miss that boat so much, with our room right on the other side of that wall
