A DREAM is a wish your heart makes...Halloween on the High Seas edition - updated 09/14/2014 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dinner looked so delicious! It's too close to dinner now, so it is making me hungry!
Glad one of you went to ask, so you didn't miss out on sending the kids to play for a little while.
What an awesome end to your day! Dinner looked delicious!
It was yummy! Every night it was good!

I know we went out another night, but that was for a different reason. We were always so beat by the end of the day!

It was short, but still nice.

That soup was asparagus soup and I loved that soooo much, but I am a soup girl.
I didn't know they only let one parent in to pick up the kids.....I wonder if that is new??
Dylan looks so grown up at dinner, and those lights above the bed are just so sweet. I don't think the Magic has them
I did you proud on this trip and matchy-matchy - just you wait!
I thought it might have been asparagus soup.
Couldn't tell you if it was new for only one parent to go in or just a mix up, but thankfully both boys were together so I didn't have to search for the other one.
He's getting so big. Lukas too!

What a great idea for your sail away party! Much less hectic (and hot) than on the deck. I thought the shows were good too, but like you, not sure if I'd see them again. I missed Villains tho - have to see that one next time.
Your dinner looks so good! "Palate cleansers" So that's what that was! I thought it was just some cool extra dessert
Dinner looked great. Of course aren't cruises known for the "food"? Did you ever find out why you got called to pick up Lukas when it didn't seem like he wanted to leave when you got there? If I were a kid I'd never want to leave!

I'm thinking that's what they were, but I could be totally wrong too.

Food was always good! No, I'm not sure why but it was no big deal in the end.
We didn’t set an alarm today as we didn’t have any plans early since it was our at sea day. First things first when we woke up was to check out the view of the open sea. I was having brunch at Palo with Melissa at 10am so when I was up I got ready then the boys followed. Once we were all dressed we headed to Cabana’s for breakfast for the boys and so I could help out. We grabbed plates and a table on the edge where we could look out. Soon I saw Melissa heading our way as she was looking for Chad & Hope, but we hadn’t seen them. She continued on her search while the boys finished breakfast. I needed to leave before they were done, so I said I would catch up with them later, left the camera with Mike and headed to my much needed girl time.
There's another ship!
Everywhere had very elaborate carved pumpkins. Loved them!
I loved the theming of Cabana's!
If any of you have been reading Melissa’s TR then you know about brunch. And if you haven’t read it, then here it is again: http://www.passporterboards.com/forums/sharing-your-adventure-disney-cruise-reports/276272-cruising-dream-full-frights-friends-10-12-13-10-19-13-updated-1-10-2014-a-16.html?#post4271449
And you really should read this because I took no pictures since Mike had the camera. The only thing I have to add is that I ordered the rum raisan pancakes with orange zest and they were delicious. I’m pretty sure I could’ve eaten another order, but would have been even more uncomfortable. It was great to meet Tricia, even for just a few minutes. And I really enjoyed the time with Melissa just talking, eating and enjoying our time and the view. Our server was also great – very attentive, always bringing us things – just what you expect from Disney.
While I was at brunch the boys were having some fun (and not so fun) of their own. After breakfast they went exploring and met Aladdin. Then they did the Midship Detective Agency. In the middle, Lukas got chilly so they had to go back to the room for his jacket before finishing the game. Mike said it was something Dylan enjoyed and only needed a little help doing. After figuring out what Villain comitted the crime they went for ice cream. While getting ice cream, Lukas had a meltdown because his ice cream melted all over his hand. So Mike decided it was time for a break and headed back to the room which is where I found them after Palo.
Mike's picture - no zoom
DCL photo - much better!
The boys were hungry so we went back to Cabana’s for lunch for them with me just sitting with them again. We found another table by a window and enjoyed our view. There was a CM in the area that was fun too. He could make a squeaking noise (like a toy or those shoes that little kids wear that squeak) and would do it when he touched Lukas’ nose, but it didn’t work with Dylan. This went on for quite some time and the boys got a huge kick out of it. He also made them hats out of the napkins which he said we could take with us and we did. (But don’t worry, the napkins eventually made their way back to Cabana’s.) After lunch we headed back to the stateroom since it was just 2 floors down – did I mention I loved the location of our room – to check out the navigator and debate about who all was going to c hange for the Halloween festivities.
The CM told him he was "a King"
As you know Mike & I decided to wear our costumes too. I love Halloween and this was a greeat excuse to get dressed up. And I did try to tell Melissa we were putting our costumes on, but those stupid wave phones caused havoc again! We headed down to the party and someone was yelling behind me about dressing up. Sure enough it was Melissa! Oops! Sorry!! We headed to the party all together and just milled around. We let the kids play some of the games and they got candy then we moved to the other side where there were a few other games and more candy. Then the music started, the characters came out and the dancing commenced! The kids really enjoyed themselves dancing and us adults enjoyed watching them. Melissa failed to mention in her TR just how much candy the kids got. CMs were near us with huge buckets of candy and they were getting handfuls by the end of the party. We walked away with plenty of sugar! I wish the party could have been more and I’m hoping they can get better at the party.
The boys loot
We had to have some photos shoots on the way back to the room as the portholes looked like jack-o-lanterns. Very cute touch!
I forgot to add all of our favorite things from the first day of the cruise, so here they are:
Mike – sail away party on our deck
Kelly – seeing the ship for the 1st time
Dylan – going to the kid’s club
Lukas – meeting Captain Hook
Great day!!! And like I said in Melissa's TR - how fantastic that you girls were able to get some girl time for brunch!!!
Those portholes look so cute!!!

What a gorgeous day to wake up to! Aside from Lukas' brief meltdown it sounds like everyone enjoyed the day. They certainly got a LOT of candy! It's really odd that they didn't do more with the party, after all the hype in the promotional material. Not like Disney at all. I do love the jack-o'lantern portholes!
