As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Has anyone with food allergies, or a family member with food allergies been to WDW [I]recently[I]? I have heard that they have changed some things, and that they are not as accommodating as they have been in the past. We have been many times before, and they have been wonderful. But I am nervous about the changes that have been made. I know all the steps to take, I would just like to hear from someone who has been there in the last 6 months or so.
There have been many recent trip reports from people with allergy issues and no one has mentioned anything but the usual stellar response from the restaurants. As far as I know, nothing on that front has changed, fortunately!

We travel with a lot of allergies and we just returned in August and we found the service to still be as accommodating as it always has. No issues at all.
I eat at a TS restaurant at WDW at least once a week--with a food allergy. I've never had any problems and the service seems to come with exactly the same amount of care as always.
WDW is still one of the most accommodating and safest places for food allergies but the process has definitely been streamlined and I find there is less individualized customization in some instances, especially of you have more than three or four allergies (or less mainstream) My DD still eats like a queen but there is less overall options for her as compared to a few years ago. It is hardest for her at quick service locations so we tend to favor sit down meals where there is definitely more flexibility.

First and foremost it depends on the dietary limitations of the person reporting changes. For me it is very hard to find side dishes because of soy. Overall there are no changes in special diets and have been major improvements. I have wheat and soy abstinence, avoid some chicken eggs, avoid cow dairy, avoid msg, avoid booze, and avoid additives and stuff. Yes, I have gotten sick, last time was my fault. I think things are improving greatly in WDW.
Changes for me are the nice manager at restaurantasaurous that gave me GF mac & cheese as a side since there was nothing but fruit for me. Sweet tater fries being offered at Pecos Bill's. Babycakes at Pop Century and the AK booth has those and other treats that are diet friendly. GF beignets at Port Orleans are something I want to try.

We only have gluten issues in our household but had no problem at all with any of the restaurants. I did find that the World Showcase at Epcot seemed to be a bit more limited on options but had fabulous meals every day!! The counter service places were sort of hit and miss...my favorite was Pinochio House. The Manager was beside me in mere moments and even gave us extra cookies.
I do wish there were more GF deserts offered though besides the GF brownie which is VERY rich and the cookies but....overall it was a fabulous experience. I loved having the chef come and walk me through what the options were and help me with extra things that they could offer.
We unfortunately had a mishap at Cali Grill when DH asked our server if the salad DH wanted contained any of his allergen. DH explained in detail exactly what he could not tolerate. The server assured him it did not only to have DH take one bite and start itching. Ohhhh, yes, it did! Infused oils in the salad dressing.
We complained and had lengthy conversations with both Head Chef Brian and the restaurant manager. Brian personally fixed the salad with slightly different ingredients in the dressing, the server got pulled aside and talked to. He was veeeery polite after that. And DH's entire meal was comped, refunding 2 dining credits, tip line filled with zeros on the check.
So, rest assured that Disney WILL take care of any mistakes should any occur. DH's reaction is fairly mild but both Chef Brian and the manager asked more than once if he needed an Epi pen or additional aid.
Otherwise, we've found TS easiest since they use more raw ingredients and can better accommodate your needs.

We were in WDW in mid January. I have shell-fish allergies and DH is a diabetic.
Disney was more than accommodating of my shell-fish, to an extreme and DH was offered alternatives to heavy carb sides/desserts.
This is nothing new, and is on the same par as last year and the years before. We didn't notice a difference in Disney's wish to accommodate us.
