A DREAM is a wish your heart makes a First-time Cruise pre-trip report complete On the cruise ! - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Gah - I forgot to add that I'm glad your Dad seems to be doing well with his treatments so far
So cool that Dylan's teacher has already made contact. I've already had a couple of conversations with Patrick's teacher because I'm a bit worried about his food allergies - it's the first time I'm sending him off to school and I won't be there to check and double check everything.

congrats on WL for BLT. I have always wanted to be able to just walk back from the MK (or Epcot) but have never been able to afford the deluxe resorts.
If it wasn't for DVC we probably wouldn't be so lucky either.

I will PM you my email - thanks for offering to share your creativity with the meals!
The walking path from MK front gates to the lobby of the Contemporary took about 15 minutes when we had the double stroller with the little boys and Nolan walking. It went faster when we had all the kiddos in a stroller. It wasn't as long as the walk from the Beach Club to Epcot (or so it seemed). Patrick still has trouble going long periods without having a seat in the stroller - even though I'm valiantly (meanly in his mind) trying to wean him away from riding at all.
Patrick's first day is Wednesday and I've been told we can walk them up to the teacher, give a quick hug and wave and "watch from the windows" as the little ones are led into the building. Hopefully, I can hold it together. I can still vividly remember sobbing as I drove away after dropping Nolan off first his first day of Kindergarten.
Thanks for the info on the path!
Good Luck on Wednesday!

Thanks about my Dad! He continues to do well.
I'm sure it's natural to feel worried. I hope everything will work out fine.

Well I am thinking about trying to get California Grill on our last night since we'll be right next door.
I just realized this PTR has been pretty boring. All I've done is tell you the basics and our weekly countdown with bits of life thrown in. And I promise I will get into more detail once I get the before mentioned out of the way again. J
So last Friday’s dinner and a movie was The Little Mermaid. On the menu was Ursula Dogs, Shell Mac&Cheese, Crab-apples, Under the Sea Pudding & Ariel's Punch.
And Saturday we went to Hannibal, MO (about an hour and a half north of us) to explore. We got there late so didn’t have time for much, but we went up to the lighthouse and took the riverboat cruise. One of the islands in the river (Mississippi) is Jackson’s Island where the stories about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are based. J
Dylan & Lukas with a statue of Tom & Huck
one of the islands (Jackson's Island) is where all the Tom & Huck stories are based
Lover's Leap
Ok, now on to the PTR! We’ll start with what we’re going to do before the cruise.
We are planning to leave on Wednesday, October 9 after we pick Dylan up from school. Mike is taking the day off to rest up for night driving and I’m going to take a half day. I’ll probably come home before getting Lukas (yes he’ll still go to daycare) and finish any last minute packing in peace. We’ll get Lukas, then Dylan and then hit the road! We are planning to stop in Paducah, KY for dinner and refueling and then continue the drive. Mike will take over at some point, but I’ll start. He’ll for sure drive in the dark and overnight. I’ll resume the driving in the am hours. I hope the boys sleep in the car. I’ve got lots of stuff set aside to bring in the car to keep them occupied and they are getting Kindles for their birthdays (which are right before the trip). And yes I realize what I just said – my 3 & 6 year olds will be getting their own Kindles. If it wasn’t for a 16+ hour car ride they wouldn’t be plus the grandparents are buying them. We’ve bought them cases already and we’ll probably give them an Amazon gift card so they can pick out their own games, etc. Anyway! We hope to be at AKL around lunchtime or before.
Once we get checked in and hopefully a room is ready we’ll probably grab some lunch if we haven’t already or head to the pool so the boys can burn off some energy from being cooped up the car. Mike might be napping by now, if not I’ll probably hit Wal-Mart/Target/or a grocery store for some things – drinks, breakfast items, snacks, alcohol for the cruise, etc. We have no plans until out 7:05pm ADR at Sanaa which we are really looking forward to eating here again! Then I’m sure we’ll all be beat and head to bed early.
Friday we are going off property!! Yes! I know! We are going to check out Legoland today! I think the boys are going to love it! They’re starting to really get into Legos, especially Dylan, and have been watching the Lego shows so they’ll be familiar with the new things there. The park is open 9:30 – 5 and takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get there from AKL. It shouldn’t be a problem to be there the entire day. After Legoland we’ll head to DtD and meet up with some PPs, Cam & Luke! We’re so excited to be able to see them again. After visiting with Cam & Luke and doing some shopping (I want some Toms like Lisa got on her July trip) we’ll head back ‘home’ for a good night’s rest.
Saturday we have no plans until dinner. I’m sure the boys will want to hit the pool again; maybe we’ll do some of the activities offered at AKL. At some point I’d like to hit the outlet malls, especially for the Disney stores. And we’re hoping we can meet up with my cousin & his wife this trip. We have a 5:30pm ADR at Chef Mickey’s to celebrate the boys’ birthdays. This was Dylan’s pick and he’s very much looking forward to it. After dinner we might take a ride around on the monorail, explore the other resorts and then go back to BLT and maybe watch Wishes from the Top of the World Lounge.
So there are our plans before the cruise! I’ll tell you about after the cruise later.

Finally all caught up! Sounds like it's going to be a great trip! Love the dinner and a movie idea! Very creative. I can't believe Dylan started kindergarten already! Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. I'm sure I had more to comment on, but I forgot! I need to take notes!

Great meal! And sounds like some nice pre-cruise plans. As for the Kindles is there a reason for selecting Kindle? We bought Cameron an InnoTab after looking into all kinds of options. I found that it was more durable and more geared towards his age. I liked the idea of the Kindle "growing" with him, but I ended up settling on the InnoTab. Just wondering why you choose Kindle. Mallory will need something in the future ya know...
Love our idea for the Mermaid night!! How creative!! Plans look great for the pre-cruise time there. Sounds like a great time will be had when you meet up with Cam and Luke!! Can't wait to hear your plans for your cruise!
I"m a little behind but I love reading about your trips with your kids. You find so much to do around where you live and I have no idea about anything around where I live, I admire that in you
I'm loving those themed dinner pics on FB, they are just amazing!
Eric nearly jumped off our bus in Barcelona to attend a soccer game so I'm thinking if I showed him that last update he would be really jealous. He wore a lot of his soccer jerseys when we were in spain LOL he's a bit of a sports fanatic, mostly baseball and football but in the past year soccer.
I loved the outlets right outside of Disney. The disney outlet had some really good stuff but I think its hit and miss there. But worth it i'm sure!
Legoland sounds awesome for the boys! Great plans cant wait for more!
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World Its hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Plans sound great! I admire the night driving plan. We were just saying we are too old for that when we did our Virginia/Wisconsin road trip.
We'll see how it goes. Mike says he can do it and won't be a problem - sure hope he's right!

I can't believe he's in school either! Sometimes it doesn't feel too different since he's been going to daycare every day, but when it's time to do homework it seems real. Plus he has to do a book report this week!
Thanks for coming to read!

We looked into the kids tablets and I was going to go with a nubi (?) but we decided on the Kindle because they could share everything and we wouldn't have to buy the same game/app/whatever multiple times. Since Mike already has a Kindle they're familiar with it too. We bought cases (and screen protectors) hoping they would be durable enough. Dylan's just snaps on, but it's quite thick. We got Lukas a Fisher Price Kid Tough case.

I love the fact that there's so much to do around here - and most of it is cheap (or free). This weekend will be family stuff so nothing 'special' but Labor Day weekened we're headed back to the Botanical Garden for the Japanese Festival.
It was really cool to see soccer here in our hometown. We're getting an indoor team that is like 15 minutes from our house so I'm sure this winter we'll head to at least one game.
I figured it was hit or miss but I can't NOT go, you know?
Not even close to boring! I'm sure you guys can do the drive alright, but if it gets to be too much, pull over and take a nap somewhere lighted and open, like a Wal-Mart. Brenda says crunchy stuff helps keep her awake, and I do believe she is right! She makes up a snack mix once in a while that I can just pig out on if I get sleepy!
When you wrote about Hannibal, it hit home to me cause I was just through there, as you know!
LegoLand is OK, and Brenda says we have to go to US when we take our grandson down, because they have more for boys... I'm not sure I agree, but we'll see...
I like the Kindles and the Amazon card is a good idea for the boys to make them their own.
I'm so happy that you get to meet up with Cam and Luke again!
