As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So on our June Family trip, I ordered the Disney Photopass Plus.
I'm looking through the pictures today and there are tons of other families in it.
I wish I had asked if they had cleared their screen before scanning our Photopass.
It's a big pain scanning through so many wrong ones to work on the few that are actually ours since their website is so very slow.
We didn't take near as many pictures as I wanted because my family wouldn't cooperate - we didn't even get pictures with the main icons at each park.
I am really wishing now that I'd insisted on those since it's most likely the last trip with my oldest who graduates High School in 2014.
I've emailed Disney Photopass about all the photos who aren't our family on the photopass card but thought I'd pass that info along for anyone who is heading to Disney.
I'm also missing some pictures so I filled out the missing picture form this afternoon too.
****Update July 18, 2013 - All of my missing photos have been found and Disney gave me another 10 days to edit them since today is the date all of the photos were going to expire.
The person I talked to did say it's a good idea to ask the Photopass Photographers if they cleared their screen before taking pictures to help avoid getting so many pictures of other families.
That's the end of my Photopass saga this trip. I've never had this happen before so it was definitely a learning experience!

That's too bad about the other families. We did have a random guy on ours, but that was it. We were missing a couple of photos, but none that I was too worried about. It's hard when they don't cooperate. We had done it literally 100 times, and still on the last day I had to direct the kids how to arrange themselves.

Yeah - I couldn't even get my family to stop at the Photopass Photographers most of the time. They ignored me and kept going. Very frustrating.
So far I've counted 21 pictures of people who aren't my family. Guess the photopass people really weren't on top of things. I'm down to only AK to work on and know we only took a few pics there but it's saying there are 32 pictures for AK. I've no doubt some of those are someone elses family.
Sigh.

Wow - that's a lot of wrong pictures. In the years that I bought Photopass, I'd only have one maybe two photos of other families tops. As for missing photos, there are none that I recall missing. I hope you can get everything straightened out (although I have a feeling Disney will tell you just to delete the other ones).
How sad for you! The only time we had a problem with extra families was on splash mountain - instead of adding only the separate pictures of my husband and I (we used a parent swap), they added him and AAAAALLLLLLLL the people between us - which was quite a few! Otherwise, it has worked out very well for us as my children both LOVE to pose for the camera. The Photopass photographers have taken the best family photos we've ever gotten!
Along the same line, I took the Wild Africa Trek back in September. When I got home, I received my photo CD with all of the shots of our trek. Great. There were no extras or anything out of the ordinary. Then a few weeks later I got another CD in the mail. This was for a totally different group of trekers. I called Disney and was told to use what I could of the pictures and discard the others. This was a bonus because the hippos were not cooperating with our guides at all. On the second one, they were very active showing a lot of teeth. We are going back in a week and have bought the PP+ again. I will have to remember to keep a close watch on the files each day or two.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
The only thing that was a bit different with ours was the Jedi Training Photos. I had to go to a PhotoPass booth and go through every picture they took for that session and pick out our four boys. This was on a Star Wars weekend, so I had to look through almost 200 photos. The guy working the counter then transferred them to my PhotoPass+ card. He was very good to deal with and helpful.
When we got home and I was looking through our pictures, we had a huge group of photos missing from the last day we were there. I knew there was good pictures in there so I filled out the missing photo form. We got all our pictures back two days later. We didn't have any random people in our group pictures though, so we lucked out with that.
Makes me think of our recent trip to Disneyland... Usually the "boys" DH and DS are not interested in cooperating for Photopass either and it is very frustrating! However, this trip my son accidentally left our expensive camera at the gate at the airport We discovered it was missing as the plane took off! In the end it was found and kept safe for us but aside from cell phones, we had no camera So my DS and DH felt obligated to cooperate for PP pics But that only lasted for a couple days.... Back to avoiding them by the end of the week haha. We did get some decent ones though. Sorry you had troubles and I hope you find your missing ones... Especially if they are so precious and few

Sounds like something went wrong....only trouble Ive had is Jedi training - those cards have every kid on there (which I have taken care of at park before but don't always have time...) and BTW when you get your disk you will still have random families even if you deleted them because some still stay.... (2 trips Jedi experience - deleted every one that wasnt my kid and STILL some remain when I get CD)

As far as family attitudes - this is MOM's present - the pics... you want to go to Disney? - pictures are mandatory. Thats them being rude and selfish to you. No pic no ride, no pic no food if they insist...

That's what I wish I'd done!
So I thought I'd swing in and update. I received an email from Disney's Photopass and they haven't found my missing photos yet. They wanted me to confirm the times I thought they were taken.
And of course the pictures are about to expire next week so I guess I'll be calling on Monday to see if I can get a free extension since Photopass is searching for missing photos.
The total of photos that were other peoples added up to 16. And I was told that I just needed to delete those off my account - which doesn't always work but I'll give it a try.
The total number of photos taken for my family was only 21 but if you add in the missing ones, it would be 26.
Quite a few of the photos that did show up on photopass were ride photos. I really like some of those since I can tell the teens were having fun.
I'm glad I did photopass plus this trip even if there are a few glitches.

Im glad you updated. I wish that you werent missing so many though. As a photo freak myself - thats heartbreaking. (Printing collages from my Epson R1900 as we speak)
The plus to me pays for itself IF you do character meals with photo packages (we always have at least 2 if not more so there is $65 $15 saved already) and we LOVE ride photos (us trying to hold DS legs down on TOT first ride LOL).
Hang in there and you might be able to call them today - they might be open.....
