As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We had a wonderful final morning in Paris today with Melanie, Meri and Nadine. We visited Notre Dame, which is one of my favourite places in the city, we got to see the Eiffel Tower in clouds and we wandered through the Tuileries gardens, before heading for home. We got back about an hour and a half ago after a lovely weekend away with great friends.
Thursday 6 June – part one: this is not a good start to the day!
The day did not start off well. It was the early hours of the morning, and I half woke up and knew I had a stinking head and sinus. That could only mean one thing – I was sleeping wrong, so I tried to move around a bit to take the pressure off my neck. I tried to find some tablets to take, but couldn’t find any, so gave up and went back to sleep. As soon as I got up, I found them and took some to try and clear my head. Fortunately, after I take some tablets, usually I’m Ok – but it’s not pleasant waking up like that.
My morning was very busy. To give you an idea – I was out hanging out the washing at around 6:10am, I was tidying up the house just after 6:30am and then I went out to water the garden at around 7:20am. Actually, it would be more accurate to say I drowned the garden, as the next three days are supposed to be pretty nice over here with no rain, so I didn’t want any of my newly planted flowers to die while we were gone…
I headed into work, and had a frantic day trying to get everything sorted out before I left at midday. I always like to try and sort out as much as I can before I go, but today it was just not going to work out that way. Oh well, there’s only so much you can do!
I was home just after midday, and just as I’d finished bringing the washing back in and watering the greenhouse, Mark arrived back, and we had a quick snack on the strawberries I’d just picked from the garden. I so love having food from our own garden! Then we put the last few bits and pieces in the case, and we were ready to go.
We left a little before 1:00pm, and had a good run down to the Eurotunnel terminal. It was a beautiful day, with temperatures in the low 70s, and it actually felt warm, which is a novelty for us so far this summer. For so many days, the weather forecasters have told us what great temperatures we’ll get, and most of the time, there’s been a horrible wind, which has really taken the edge off those temperatures. Not today though!
When we arrived at the terminal, the car park was about as deserted as I think we’ve ever seen it. We couldn’t believe how quiet it was.
We headed inside, as someone (can’t think who ) hadn’t had anything to eat since breakfast, so a quick takeaway later, and he was sorted out.
As you can see, they’re doing a lot of work here….
…. and when we went to use the restrooms, we could see the results of the first batch of work. these are seriously the restrooms – what an entrance! I just loved the photos they had here – so beautiful.
We had a quick browse around duty free, and then headed back to the car. We set off for France, even though we hadn’t been called, but it didn’t seem to be any issue. We were quickly through passport control and parked up, waiting to be called, with someone finally able to get his lunch. Not long after he finished, we were off and running, and heading down to the train.
We asked for the downstairs, as I really don’t like the feeling of movement you get upstairs. We must’ve been right near the front of the train, as we drove through about eight carriages before coming to a stop.
When we did, we were near a window, so I got out to get some photos of the white horse of Kent…
… and the freight trains, as I thought it might be interesting for you to see these things. The lorries go into the open air carriages, and there’s a closed carriage where the drivers go to and can grab a break and something to eat.
I also realised that, in all the times, we’ve taken the Eurotunnel, I don’t think I’ve ever actually photographed now close they put the cars to each other, so I put that right there and then.
At this point, it’s worth saying that Melanie and I had been texting to and fro ever since we’d been in the Eurotunnel terminal. She’d sent me a text early in the morning, about 9:30am our time, but I’d only just seen it, as I hadn’t even had a chance to look at my phone, I’d been so busy. I sent a text back, saying that she’d probably be in Paris when she picked it up, as four hours earlier, they’d been waiting for their flight. Little did I know – it turned out she was still at the airport, and having lots of issues, by the sounds of it, with their flight, but I’ll let her tell you all the details in due course. I did feel for her though.
You had a busy morning at home and at work! It's always interesting to see photos of the train procedure and the tunnel. I've only ever done the ferry, as the chunnel didn't exist back then! Sounds like it was a very easy trip this time!
Your weather sounds like our weather every spring! Temps are decent until that breeze kicks up off Lake Michigan and then it comes right back down. It can be 15-20 degrees warmer 15-20 miles further away from the lake. Grrrrrr....
Anyway, every time you take the Eurotunnel I love seeing those car pictures. And, wow, they are close to one another!

I have never seen a Train that carries cars, this is something. Reminds me of the Ferries we use sometimes. It seems, all is well so far!!! I am looking forward to your next post. I'm very interested in this trip.
