As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

I'm just looking for some advice on traveling to Disney with a baby who has a G-Tube, he's 19 months will be turning 2 the day after we arrive.
I am assuming we will have to have his formula shipped since he is on a special formula because of severe allergies.
He is getting his G Tube in a couple weeks, currently 15lbs at 19 months. He will be on continuous feeds for the first little while but I am hoping by the time we go in Sept he won't be on continuous and will be finally eating some solids.
He doesn't walk yet. Once he gets a little bit bigger he will be getting braces and a gait trainer but we will be bringing our stroller and a carrier.
Anyway this is all new to us and only our 2nd time going to the world the first time our 2 older kids were not babies either so it's really all new. Any advice would be great.

There is a baby care center in each park as well as a first aid center with nurses. I think there may be a fridge if you need it but someone else can verify. There are places for you to take care of all of your needs. The first aid station has private "rooms" with curtains and there is a quiet room with rockers in the baby care center.
I would recommend a GAC so that you can use a stroller as a wheelchair to keep from having to lift him out and carry him through every line. It will also allow him to keep his distance from others. This allows you to take your stroller in lines just like you would a wheelchair. Strollers are not usually allowed in lines and must be parked outside the attractions.
I hope someone else comes along soon that can be more helpful.

Didn't have a baby on a g-tube, but DD Samantha was for quite a while. We trucked her stuff down the first time we went, including an IV pole for the bag.
Here's a wonderful solution: you can take the formula on the plane with you, so you don't have to rely on shipping. You can pack a 'reasonable' amount in your carry on and the fluid restrictions do not apply. I'd pack enough for 24 hours.
Then - and this is key: pack the rest, plus all of his supplies and ONLY those medical items in a checked suitcase. As long as that suitcase has nothing but medical supplies (and a special formula is that), it can be checked as a medical supply bag and does not incur baggage fees. (yep, you pay nothing for that bag).
As someone else said, get a Stroller as Wheelchair pass - go to the Guest Services of any park and ask for one. You don't need a doctor's note, nor does Disney WANT one. They only need to see the child and have you say "He can't walk for medical reasons, we need a stroller as w/c pass." That's it, no other info is needed.

Along with the First Aid stations and Baby Care Centers, there are Companion Restrooms, which are large enough to accommodate a stroller, wheelchair or ECV. They also give you a private place to toilet or change clothes without respect to gender. These were a lifesaver for me when traveling with my teen son who has autism, and also when helping my husband, who has mobility issues.
Also, a technicality, "stroller as a wheelchair" is a tag that guest relations will provide. You won't need a GAC if that is your only need, since the tag and the wheels tell it all! Cast Members will know to redirect from stairs or other barriers without the GAC, so don't worry if Guest Services tells you the same thing.

These are links to some articles I wrote a while back. You might find some tips on how to turn your stroller-as-a-wheelchair into a sensory haven for your baby. The Disney-specific information is VERY outdated. Updates on the Disney specific information will be available some time next month, so I'll post new links when that is out.

Actually...you DO need both the hang-tag on the stroller and a GAC with the stroller-as-wheelchair stamp. Unlike regular wheelchairs/ECVs, they do require the GAC to use a stroller as wheelchair in lines despite having a hang-tag (I guess maybe to prevent anyone from stealing the tag?). While some CMs may allow entrance without showing the GAC, you could be turned away. They'll give you both at Guest Relations.
We needed a GAC along with the stroller as wheelchair tag. A nice feature I learned (late in our trip) you won't necessarily need to fold the stroller up when boarding the buses if the wheelchair spaces are available. When we needed to, we were able to bring the stroller right in ride lines with us which helped tremendously because while my youngest can walk, he has developmental delays and at 35 pounds, was very heavy to hold when he would through a tantrum and refuse to walk further.
I also wanted to add that all restrooms have changing areas (even the mens') which was really nice because my husband was able to take our youngest for diaper changes.

Thanks for the feedback. Was this recently that you needed both? I spoke to the manager of access for all the US Disney Parks, and he said a GAC was only needed for hidden needs. He said if wheels, a cane, or some other visible device would limits access is involved, there won't be a GAC. So, I looked back at my meeting notes, and I never asked specifically about needing a GAC with Stroller-as-wheelchair tags. The changes in the GAC requirements are pretty recent, BUT if anyone has gotten both in the past year-or-so, could you please post? I have a Disney e-book coming out soon, and I'd like to clarify that before the final is set if I misunderstood.
