Taking Our (PassPorter) Friendship to the Next Level - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok...Linny's description of a meal that I've already tasted has me wanting to go back to that restaurant immediately.
When we first got there I was soooo full from just having eaten lunch, that I had no idea how I was going to possibly get this dinner in my stomach. That's why I chose the tuna as my app because out of the choices, it was the lightest of the bunch. However, after the first bite, my stomach miraculously made room for the rest of my meal, plus the little nibbles I had of the bacon.
Oh, and I do have to add that while the girls were enjoying wine with their dinner, I decided to be different and go for something a little more refreshing, so I had cocktail. It was called a Ziggy Stardust, and it had Grey Goose Poire, Rock Candy Syrup, Lemon, and Domaine Chandon in it. Very tasty.

I just have to add this in here on what a value AC restaurant week is. Yes we drank a few glasses of wine and with tax and tip our meal was of course more than the $33. However, if just looking at the regular menu, the 10oz filet alone is $42. On our menu we had an 8oz. Kelly's bacon app would be $18. Do the math, it's a great deal!!
I'd pay a whole lot more for that bacon again!!!
And for some not following Melissa's TR - check out her countdown and compare to mine.

Dang it! I guess I'll have to "Dream" about cruising on the "Fantasy" now. You two together again, locked down on a cruise ship? OMG!!!
THAT is great! You will have to get your TA expertise working and get your staterooms close, Kelly!

It is pretty exciting isn't it? Without having known where Kelly's stateroom was, I was booked two floors below, but in pretty much the exact same location of the ship, just on opposite sides. I think I'm port (left) and she's starboard (right), but I could be totally wrong about that. My father, who retired from the Navy, would be so disappointed...unless I was right of course.
I've gotta say that the American Cut dinner was the best meal that I had down there and actually can't wait to make the trip back to AC with Craig to bring him there (hopefully with Linny and Arnaud as well ).
Kelly's appetizer rocked!! Although the tuna was fabulous and light as well. Everything bagel bread?? Um, yes please I'll have another piece. I could have eaten an entire bowl of the creamy potatoes and the spinach along with it was divine. But the desserts were out of this world!! Really, popcorn flavored ice cream...hello??!! It was a fantastic start to a night that was still oh so young

Oh yes. The night actually went way into the morning. If Kelly wants me too, I can always start the next update, I just need to make sure I'm not stepping on any TR toes.
Wow! I heard about the big storm that caused so much damage to AC, but now I'm wondering how much more damage was caused by the "Passporter Tornado!!!"

Disclaimer: I will warn everyone know that there might not be too many details for the rest of this night. We had a lot of fun though!
After dinner we looked around the hotel for a bit, but there wasn’t a whole lot going on. Again big, open, empty spaces here. We did go outside where a large firepit was but quickly turned around as it was very windy and freezing outside! So we decided to head over to Resorts to see the show. Linny had scored us tickets to the show as her friend (and employee I believe) dances in the show. Little did we know that we’d be sitting front & center! The show is called ‘Divas do AC’ and is obviously the inspiration for the title of this TR. Divas is a drag show. I’d never been to a drag show before this night, but before hand I was really looking forward to it. Sitting in a small theater and in the front row to boot made ‘my first time’ that much better. It was awesome! These women look better than I do and can walk in 4-5 inch heels (I’m a flat shoe kind of person). They’re so talented too. And the backup dancers! They were amazing too! One guy is 50! He looked incredible! (Made me feel like a big slob.)
Joan Rivers was our host for the night. She loved to pick on a few guys, but one in particular. It was a riot! We saw Madonna, Patti LaBelle, Dolly Parton, Liza Minelli, and Prince. We were all kind of unsure how Prince fits into all this, but it was still entertaining. Linny isn’t much of a fan because apparently Prince is also the choreographer and puts himself in as the closing act. Show off!
We weren’t supposed to take pictures but Dawn was sneaky and used her iphone to take some, so while they aren’t the best, at least we have something to knid of show you what it was like.

you can see Madonna here (iphone didn't get taken out until after she performed (she was first))
After the show you could meet the entertainers – get pictures & autographs. We passed and met the dancers instead. Everyone was so nice and just fabulous people! Made you feel right at home. We hung out with them for a drink at the bar across from the theater and then the impersonators came in too. When Joan came in as himself we were shocked! It took us a while to figure out who he was – it wasn’t until he talked like Joan that we knew who it was.
our 'red carpet' poses
Then we decided to head back to our hotel so we’d be closer to our beds. We watched Linny gamble (and win I might add – she had the best luck). Had some drinks – probably too many, but you only live once. We decided we were hungry and headed to EoS! Yes, our hotel has an Earl of Sandwich inside it!! We were all going to get something then when we got there, the smell hit me and I was done. I waited in line – got some water & chips and then told the girls I had to get out of there NOW! I made it back to the room and then so did everyone else, but it was a rough night for all of us. I’d gladly do it all over again though! I had a fabulous time with these girls that night!
What a great night and I'm so glad you guys sneaked some photos, as while the description was good, the photos bought it to life - I can't believe how amazing they look... and like you, I can't wear heels (ankle damage from a few years ago) so I admire anyone who can!
