FIRSTS, BIRTHS, and GIRTHS…A September 2013 PTR - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, here we are again. Another week flown by and my poor Dinner and a Movie Night post neglected. I'm giving myself a high five for at least posting it before tomorrow night's Dinner and a Movie night!
I was really excited to see this movie because it was a first for me; ironically a first for the rest of my family! I thought it was really cute; however, very similar to The Muppets movie (saving the show and all). The facial expressions on the bears were cool and I laughed hysterically over the police officer's fake mustache! DD really seemed to enjoy this one and periodically danced with some of the musical numbers.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the movie we have planned for tomorrow night! Should I give you a hint? Let's see...we are done with the first three letters of the alphabet. There, that should narrow it down a bit!
In other Disney news, I ordered some cute luggage tags and a new pair of pink Mickey crocs for DD from Amazon. I received the crocs yesterday, just waiting on the luggage tags now.

Love your movie selection I sawit for the first time one night a few years ago when when the nurse in charge of the transport we were doing wanted to watch it made for a really good long distance trip
There are a lot of pages - so forgive me if this was already mentioned. BUT - don't forget your first visit buttons for those visiting for their first times, or the Happy Birthday buttons for those, AND - with so many in your group - you should also be able to get the Grand Gathering button for everyone in the party.
As for the food -- TAKE YOUR APPETITE. Maybe fast a few days ahead of time. LOL We've only ever done the regular dining plan (whatever they call it these days -- it's the one in between the quick service plan and the deluxe). And THAT was A LOT of food. Honestly, with the deluxe - you are probably going to find that the only thing you are doing while there is eating. LMAO!

I'm glad you liked it too! I can see how some might find it cheesy...but I think it's a great non-cartoon movie.

Thank you for the awesome advice about the buttons. I heard about the birthday and first visit ones, but I wasn't aware that you could get them for grand gatherings! I think it's fantastic that no one will be left out! I'm a little nervous myself about the amount of food on the deluxe, but I think we planned it out ok so that the major meals are breakfast and dinner. We will use our snack credits for lunch. Then, if we end up with leftover snack credits at the end we can stock up on some Disney treats to take home! I'm actually pretty excited about all of the reservations since we are pacing the park touring. I guess you could say I'm making up for some of what I missed on previous trips when I was younger.
I trust everyone had a fabulous Easter! Now that DD received a new "batch" of candy...I can finally toss out the candy she collected since Halloween!
Dinner and a Movie - March 29, 2013 - DUMBO
Dinner: Hotdogs and Popcorn
(I apologize for all of these crazy pictures; I take them in horrible lighting with my iPhone!)
Judge me all you want, but I cry EVERY TIME I watch this movie. As a mother, I cannot imagine being separated like that from my child. Ugh...it gets me every time! While dinner was a bit on the fun/relaxed side this week (which DD loved, naturally), I could not get DD to sit still for the 2nd half of this movie. I think she mentally checked out and began doing other things. Ah well...you win some, you lose some. I think when she sees the ride at Disney, she may feel differently. Let's see...should I give you a hint for this week's movie? It may be related to another movie that was announced on PassPorter...
In other Disney related news, I placed another order with the Disney Store (I know...I have a problem... ). I ordered an Ariel two-piece bathing suit and Minnie Mouse two-piece bathing suit (the ones that look like tankinis), the Ariel goggles (for our pool at home and for the trip), a couple pairs of flip flops, the summer fun beach bag, and a 2013 shirt for DH since I couldn't get one in his size when I ordered shirts about a month or so ago. I ordered during the swim sale over the weekend, plus used my Disney Visa discount so I was happy about the deal. My tracking email says I should arrive home today and see that box of happiness waiting for me! I'll try to take pictures of everything, including the last Amazon order of luggage tags and Disney crocs, if I can get away with it without DD noticing.

We got grand gathering buttons in 2008, so unless something has changed since then.... They were a button with the Incredibles on them.
The deluxe dining plan is THREE meals a day and 2 snacks -- so I'm sure many of your snacks will go home with you. LOL We ended up taking home a good portion of our snacks too, and that was just on the regular dining plan, and my family are big eaters too.

Unless of course - you are using 2 credits at some meals. I didn't see if you posted ADRs, I haven't made it entirely through all the pages of posts yet!

I am really enjoying your Pre TR, I just got all caught up. You are great at organization which really helps with planning a WDW trip. I was thinking that with all the people going you are bringing the party with you! Your movie nights sound so fun. I always cry at Dumbo too. Keep up the great posts.
WOW!!!! I just finished reading your plans and makes me even more excited for my trip in October 2013.
I love all of the plans that you have made so far and great luck on getting all of the ADR's that you wanted my 180 day is April 22nd and I am just starting to make a list of the places I want to try. Need to sit down with DH and see if any restaurants jump out at him as we are doing the middle dining plan this year which will work for us as I usually don't eat breakfast.
