Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I can't wait to try those beignets! We are going to have to walk over and get some if we do stay in a Royal Room.

I think my DD will be loving that pool too!

Can't wait to hear about your meal at CMC. It's on our must do list. We loved it last trip. Hope you do too!

Yummy Beignets.

I am always amazed at how much fun kids can have in the pool - and yes, 70 degrees is cold when you've been living in Florida for a while (its 46 degrees here right now )

Those towel treats are very innovative.

Oh I have to agree all those Mardi Gras mask and "jester" people around the resort are all creepy. Glad the girls got some pool time. I went to Disneyland once in November and the CMs there were in hats and gloves and parkas as well. I was in a sweatshirt. So Californians also have thin blood.

Too funny about the pool. We are from Ohio, so anything above 70 is pool time. DH made several comments during our trip in January that the only ones in the pool were those crazy Canadians. Of course those crazy Ohioans and New Englanders were also in the pool! LOL One day is did not get above 60 and rained most of the day, but when we got back to the room at night there were several people in the pool. That was even too cold for us and the lifeguards looked like they were going skiing.

We tried to keep ourselves and the table clean, Laurie, but it just wasn't happening! Those delicious little bites are so worth the mess though

I was not expecting to get such creative towel creations, with all of the added glitz and stickers. Every time we got them, I just pictured the mousekeepers sitting around having "craft" time making all of them for us

Sometimes it's hard to step away from the parks, but I was glad we had the chance to explore our resort. It was a great day!

Yeah, my girls are pretty much the same Though, with the pool being heated, I think they were actually warmer in the water than we were out!

I was so glad they were peanut free too, I was hoping that they didn't use peanut oil for frying them up. You'll have to try them next time, they are so yummy!

Yes, a visit to POFQ for some beignets is a must do if you stay in a RR!

This was our first time at CMC for dinner, spoiler alert - we loved it too!

Oh, I can totally see how 70 degrees would feel cold to those used to living in warmer FL temps year round. It was just such a funny sight to see all of these vacationers (presumably from the North) swimming and wearing next to nothing, while all of the CMs looked ready for a blizzard

Heck, I'd even take the 46 degrees you have today, it was only 16 here this morning, BRRR!

We had a great time at POFQ, despite the "creepy" guy It was a really lovely resort.

It definitely was funny to see people swimming, while the lifeguards were all bundle up!

Yeah, later that night, after the sun went down, it did get chilly. I think the low was in the 50s, when we got back from the park there were still people in the pool That's just a little too cool for me to go swimming!

Dinner at CMC and Epcot EMH

Wed, November 7 - Part 3

Dinner tonight was over at the Cape May Café, and we didn’t want to deal with the hassle of going to a park to catch a bus to the Beach Club :, so the first thing we did when we got back to our room was call down to the front desk to arrange for a cab to pick us up. It worked out perfectly, when we were done getting dressed, we walked over to the lobby and our ride was waiting outside for us. We were at the BC in no time, and I think with tip the whole ride cost us $16 which was well worth it for the time we saved.

We were really early for our ADR, so we just took our time strolling outside and checking out the lobby before checking in.

Once we did check in though, we had no wait at all and were brought directly back to our table (which just happened to be the same one we were seated at last year for breakfast). I’ll admit, going into this dinner I wasn’t sure what to expect as I had heard so many mixed reviews about the seafood buffet. I enjoy seafood once and a while, but I think Chris could eat it everyday if he could, so I made this ADR for him as I knew he would enjoy it. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by this meal! Everything was hot and fresh, and we didn’t run into any problems with things not being replenished quickly or things running out like I had read in some reviews. : We definitely got our fill on crab legs, and I’m pretty sure that Kaeli cleaned them out of the cold marinated shrimp on the salad buffet. And, for those of you who have passed this one by because you don’t like seafood, you might want to give it a try! There were plenty of items on the buffet to keep the land lovers happy. One of my favorites was the gnocchi with braised short ribs. It wasn’t the prettiest dish to look at, but my was it tasty!

This was the one and only food picture I got tonight. Don’t worry though, there were plenty of plates enjoyed tonight!

The girls even gave the crab a try

Though, I’m pretty sure they enjoyed cracking them more than they did eating them.

After our bellies were completely stuffed, we settled the bill and headed out towards the IG for some EMHs at Epcot. We headed straight towards France, stopping along the way for a picture or two.

At some point along the way, my neighbor sent me this text with a pic of our driveway

Thank goodness we didn’t have to deal with that tonight!

We stopped by the Kidcot station to get another stamp for the girls’ Duffy Bears, and then Chris ordered himself a GG Slush before we headed to the UK. Somehow the pretty French girls behind the register were able to talk him into getting the extra shot of Grey Goose for his drink , but even he admitted that was a mistake, it was just too much alcohol.

After stopping at the UK Kidcot station, we played around a bit by the phone booths, Chris and I taking turns calling the girls in there from our cell phones.

Up next was Canada, of course.

They really need to put a stool behind this thing, I could barely get my head in there!

We spent some time chatting with the CM at the Kidcot stop while the girls finished up their coloring, it was interesting to hear what she had to say about the International CMs that come here to work in the WS. One thing she noted was that it was a little scary to come to work in another country, but how comforting it was to her to get to work with other Canadians just like her.

Now, here’s where my notes get a little fuzzy, so I’m going to base the rest of this update on my photos. It looks like next we headed into FW, and I believe we headed towards Nemo.

After we found Nemo, we decided to wait for the next showing of Turtle Talk with Crush, which would start in about 15 minutes or so. For a while, we thought we would be getting a private show, as we were the only ones in the waiting area for quite some time.

The girls were hoping to be picked by Crush at question time, but unfortunately they weren’t. : Still, we enjoyed the show as usual.

I’m pretty sure afterwards, we headed over to the Land for a ride on Soarin, which ended up being a longer wait than shown because one of the theaters went down. They emptied the guests about to ride and filed them down past us into our theater for their ride. There were lots of unhappy people on line with us , but what can you do. Disney did the right thing by allowing those people the ride they had waited for, it would have been very unfair of them to have them just leave after the ride malfunctioned.

After our flight over CA, we headed back into the WS, towards Mexico.

We might have taken a ride on the Gran Fiesta tour, but don’t quote me on that one.

I do know that we took a spin on Maelstrom, stopping for the obligatory sword/Viking hat photos in the shop afterwards.

After visiting Norway, we decided to call it a night and headed back out to the front of the park to catch a bus back to POR. I’m pretty sure we were all exhausted and it was straight to bed as soon as we got back.

UP NEXT: DTD and Disney Quest

Good thinking to take a cab to dinner. It's easy to forget about this option, but it does save so much time and effore going from resort to resort. Dinner looks like a success and you again covered a lot of ground. Hard to believe this is the same day as the one where you started out planning on a water park!

I so wish we had taken the cab from POR to BC!!! We also really enjoyed the CMC for dinner!! Living in New England where we can get great seafood whenever we want - we had never given it a second thought - but it was DELISH!!!

Love the photo-bombing Duffy is Chris' pic with his GG slush!!!

hmmmm..............I am thinking there is going to be a Soarin' rehab in the near future - that happened while we were there too - and the screen really is starting to look pretty rough

Same as Lisa here. I live on Cape Cod, MA and we can get some awesome seafood here. In fact Dana asked why I was booking that meal considering where I am from. We were glad we did though. We really enjoyed our meal here, there truly was something for everyone sea or land lover. I thought it was a great price considering all the seafood there was and all you can eat to boot!

Looks like you got lots of stuff done and got some cute pics too.

Cape May looks wonderful. We're eating there in June! I love how we're eating at so many of the same places. It just helps me get more excited about our trip. If that's even possible. What a great night at Epcot!

Great evening at Epcot. So glad you enjoyed your dinner at the Cape May Café. I have to admit we haven't had much luck there in recent years, so it's good to hear a positive review.
