A 40th celebration to end the world! THREAD 1 COMPLETED 2/16 - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Very interesting about the wine............will have to remember that - as Scott and I are planning to purchase a bottle or two during our next trip to enjoy in our room - guess we will have to make sure we time it accordingly.
I am loving your WS photos - love the "artistic" angles in some of them!!!
And it turned out to be such a beautiful day it looks like!!!
I am so surprised you put Eeyore back!!! Emily purchased the Stitch one in October, and she sleeps/relaxes with him all the time!!! Makes a great pillow on the plane!!

Love the picture of the T-shirt!! That would be something my husband would have to purchase!! Great installment this time around with amazing pictures. Can't wait to read more!
Loving all the WS pics....turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. Love the shot of the clock in Germany....I am guessing the chiming was part of the Agent P Adventures as I seem to recall something similar back in the Kim Possible days...
I missed going to Germany last trip - thanks so much for all the pictures of my favorite European country (sorry, lived there for 4 years ) I would have loved to browse all the Christmas stuff. "Next time", right?
You are so much better than me with Eeyore. If I pick up a Raggedy Ann, I have to buy her (out of guilt...I kid you not!). DH tends to throw them in my hands/arms and then knows I can't leave without her and buys her for me. Oy!
I'm not really that good... I do have literally hundreds of the little guys at home and there was the small matter of it only being day two of our 26 day (I think that's right ) trip and I wasn't sure how much else I'd see and want to buy.....
I am so surprised you put Eeyore back!!! Emily purchased the Stitch one in October, and she sleeps/relaxes with him all the time!!! Makes a great pillow on the plane!!
Occasionally (not very often I'll admit ) I can show self-restraint when it comes to the donkey....

All caught up! I love all of your pictures! Just curious, out of the total you take what percentage would you say are "throw-aways"? Do you use memory cards or do you offload them to a pc periodically?

I probably keep about 85-90% of them. They're uploaded to my laptop at least daily (sometimes more than once a day) and copied on to CD. I just finished copying them on to CD earlier - about 127 CDs for this trip.
I have to be honest, it's never even crossed my mind. I didn't know you could get a printer for home that would print that big.
I just had a quick look and couldn't see it available over here - Amazon say it's out of stock and they don't know when or if it will be back in stock. I guess maybe it's been superseded by a newer model? When our printer packs up, it's something I'll keep in mind.... thanks for mentioning it!
I thought of it because those cloud pics from the plane are perfect background for the flight scrap pages....
Oh I should have put newest model I think its Epson R2000. buy on sale dont pay full price! As much as I love it even I wouldnt pay what they want for it. I got mine on sale for $350 when the full price at Staples was $550. Now that was also when you couldnt find a solid good printer that would last years for less than $300.... it will print documents but I have it as dedicated photo... there may be others like Canon who have some wide format now I dont know as mine is getting older now
I dont know if any photo printing places offer a 12x12 option to comparison price either...
I also use normal 12x12 white cardstock scrap paper and print matte or buy the larger size 13x9 and cut it down to 12x12 for glossy. I lighten the photo most times to make it less ink and more appropriate for background paper. I sometimes keep it full color and glossy if its like the fav pic or the whole trip or fav baby pic.... Obviously this is something you dont do for every page... but it is for really special pics....
I use an imac now and there are collage apps to put a bunch of photos on 1 collage... as I am like you and take lots of pics its a way to use more of them and not have 5 scrapbooks for 1 trip....not that I have done that...
It has changed alot about how I take pictures - Textures, carpets, resort welcome mats even cast member uniforms can be cropped and blown up to be a scrap pattern page.... thats why Ive never been interested in Cricuts imagine machine - I am already doing that with my current setup....
It has changed how I scrap too - I am not into the latest tool anymore because I save my money for ink and paper so I have the most unique scrapbook.... So its cricut, stickers, paper, photos, pens for me....
I also will be doing 4x6 on like shutterfly from now on because again I want the most bang for buck and want to save the Epson for enlargements, collages and 12x12 paper
Sorry to ramble but I love photos and using them creatively...

Not rambling at all. Very useful... as I say, something to keep in mind when our current printer dies....
I have been told so many times that I take way too many pictures, however, you have me beat! When I went to Great Britain for a month I took about 500 pictures and everyone thought I was crazy. I can't even imagine filling 127 cd's. But, I have a goal to shoot for now!
