Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

**I forgot to add that we didn't see a single drop of rain once we got into World Showcase. I had even packed us all extra socks in case we got soggy but they were not needed thankfully**

It does seem to vary dramatically, mainly because so much of Disneyland's audience are locals. If the weather starts badly (i.e. there's rain early on), it means the crowds will be so much lower, it's not true.

Let's just say your 15 minute wait for the Jungle Cruise at about 10:00am corresponded with 30 minutes for the same attraction at almost exactly the same time the day before in Disneyland....

The weather has been nice. We've only had two cold mornings (40's); and both of those warmed up to nice afternoons. All the other days we have been completely jacket/coat free from the start.... with the morning/park opening temps being around 60 degrees and warming up well into the 70's by afternoon.... We have had one day in the mid 80's as well.... Hopefully the good weather continutes.... Just make sure yall practice good handwashing while here so that no one catches all the germs going around!

Sunday December 30th:

Today we were planning for the Animal Kingdom. Yesterday I had mentioned Dillon was complaining of his throat again, well it only got worse once we were back “home”. Finally I called the doctor again and she said she’d been seeing some cases where kids got strep after getting over the flu, but she asked if Dillon had ran any fever in the last 24 hours and the answer was no. So, she said if he started running fever to call back and she’d call in an antibiotic for strep, but otherwise just to treat the symptom- gargling salt water and ibuprofen/Tylenol.

Well, after speaking with her I got to thinking that I had already been giving Dillon ibuprofen and Tylenol for his throat and that perhaps that was holding back any fever he may have otherwise had. Sure enough, this morning he had fever and he said his throat felt like it was on fire. I called the doctor back and she agreed to call him in an antibiotic.

Tomorrow was supposed to be our second relax day, but I decided to switch them so that Dillon could take a day of rest and get his throat better. So, this is our last built in relax day and I just hope we don’t need another one. So, we are now planning on Animal Kingdom for tomorrow.

I had called the doctor about the prescription just before 8am. Afterwards I realized the pharmacy didn’t open until 9am. I figured the doctor would just leave a message. Around 9:30am I called about the prescription, but they hadn’t received it. I didn’t want to keep calling my doctor back on a Sunday, so I thought maybe when she called and they weren’t open, she decided just to call back and I should just wait it out…

Well, I called back at 10:30am- still no prescription. I called back at 11:30am- still no prescription. So, finally I reluctantly called the doctor back. She said she had called in the prescription when we first spoke (which is what I had originally figured) and if they hadn’t figured it out by 1pm to call her back and she would call it in again.

Well, I immediately called the pharmacy back to let them know she *had* called it in. Well, they said they had it but needed further authorization/information from the doctor and they had sent her a fax requesting more information. I asked if they could just call her as the office was closed and I doubt she would get the fax. They said they could only fax! Seriously?!? So, I called the doctor back and told her what they said. She said she would call them.

By this point the kids were begging me to go eat Ci Ci’s Pizza and Dillon said his throat was ok to eat; so we headed in that direction hoping the prescription would be ready by the time we were done with lunch.

After lunch, I called Walgreens and they said they had spoken with the doctor and that was straightened out but there was a problem with my insurance. I told them due to it being out of state that I was probably just going to have to pay for it and not to worry about the insurance. Apparently, that was complicated for them as they gave me the run around saying it had to be “cashed out” before they could fill the prescription. They connected me to someone else and put me on hold for a long time before I finally hung up and called back.

At this point we were done with lunch, and I programmed the pharmacy into my GPS and figured I was going to just have to deal with them in person. Before we could pull out of the parking lot, I got someone on the phone who said they would now start filling my prescription and it’d be ready in thirty minutes. I was really frustrated at this point and I told her I thought it was ridiculous.

By the time I got there and waited in line the prescription was ready. It was at that time that I found out what had been the true hold up this whole time- They thought the message(that had been left at 8am) said Dillon’s birthday was 1995, and it was actually 1999. I thought it was pretty ridiculous that they had that much trouble and it seemed they should have figured it out in one of my dozen calls that it was the same Dillon!

It was 2pm when we got back to the vacation home and Dillon is now started on his medicine. I hope it does the trick and he’s fine for the Animal Kingdom tomorrow. I’ve got to say both of our “relaxation days” have been a little stress full- the first one with a visit to the emergency room and this one with a morning full of phone calls to the pharmacyL.

We have exactly four park days left in our trip; one day in each of the parks- I hope we are able to get everything done.

Thanks for following along everyone!

Just caught up with your thread. Looks like you are getting a lot accomplished in spite of the flu. Hope things get better for your family now that the children are getting well and the flu is flying away.

I just read through your entire TR. I am surprised that you managed to get so much done on your park days!! Your kids must have great dispositions to behave so good when they are sick. I'm sorry they didn't feel well and that you had to worry the whole trip.

My middle DS was sick with fever, a terrible cough, and a very bad sore throat on one of our past trips. We were staying on property and the desk told us that we could have a Dr. visit him in our room and his script could be delivered also but we decided to take him to see a local Dr that our insurance found for us because if we had gone the route of having the Dr. visit we would have to pay for it out of pocket and wait to get our money back from insurance.

I smiled when I read the part of your TR where you bought your DS a frozen coke when his throat hurt because when my DS was sick we got him at least 4 a day because that was the only thing that helped him.

I am really enjoying reading your TR and can't wait for more!! Pixies for your sick and not sick ones!
