Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great idea to get on Pirates to avoid the fireworks. Besides the little rain and the 60 minute wait for PP, sounds like a nice time in MK. What is it with PP. I love that ride but honestly an hour wait - I don't love it THAT much.

The CM was so nice - I'm sure she thought we were odd, but didn't show it! And that picture of Alex is one of my faves - shows some of his nutty personality!

I completely agree with you about PP - it's always crazy. I don't think I like any ride enough to wait an hour!

Okay, I am going to try and get this TR done over the next 2 weeks - I'm off for Christmas break, so hopefully I can do it! I love reliving it, but I'm sure it's dragging out!

MONDAY, AUGUST 27: Epcot

We woke up this morning to pouring rain courtesy of the outer edges of Issac. Thankfully though, both Alex and I seemed to be feeling a bit better. We took our time getting ready, not wanting to be out in the downpour if we could avoid it and headed out around 10:30. And since it was raining, we of course waited forever for a bus , arriving at Epcot around 11ish.

We headed to Soarin for FPs first and checked out the standby, but it was already 50 min. While Dave grabbed the FPs, I texted Sharon, but I'm guessing she wasn't there yet (turns out she wasn't, but her phone was acting up, so I don't know if she got the initial texts).

We went to Figment next, dodging raindrops on the way and the kids played for a bit after our ride, followed by some shopping - Alex bought a Figment 'Nerd" Vinylmation (it's too cute!)

Their creations....

Showing his opinion
of Figment

Around this time, the rain about stopped - it was still drizzling, but it was okay to walk around without ponchos. Sharon must have arrived with her good weather mojo!

We started getting hungry, so we headed to a nearly empty WS where we stopped for a few photo ops in Canada, then grabbed some fish and chips at the UK stand for Dave and the kids. We brought this to the American Pavilion so we could eat out of the drizzle. I grabbed a burger there and texted Sharon. She and her family were at Sunshine Seasons eating, and we ended up missing each other all day

I know I look good LOL!

Once we finished eating, we started strolling around WS, stopping first in Italy to grab some coasters we saw for the house. We saw the Ziti Sisters come out and the kids joined the show, which we got a kick out of This was our first time seeing them and we will definitely try and check them out again - what a hoot!

On our way to Alice, we came across the Server Amusant just getting started, so we had front row viewing. By the time the waiter was stacking the last chair, my kids were dying - they couldn't believe he was going to do it!

The chef blew his whistle to quiet the crowd as the waiter started stacking the last chair the wrong way. Horrified, Alex yelled out "No!" into the quiet and got the whistle blown at him and a crowd full of people laughing It was hilarious!

We finally made it over to the UK to meet Alice, but she seemed to be having some trouble with her eyes (I'm guessing the contacts) from the wind. She tried to talk to the kids, but had to turn away from us to do so. We were able to take a quick picture with her, then she went to speak to her handler; I'm not sure if she left or not.

We met Duffy next, which made Alex's day! He was so excited to meet him (and still hasn't stopped talking about it!).

Our FPs were ripe, so we strolled over to Soarin (and were in the same pavilion as Sharon and still couldn't meet up! ), then over to Club Cool for some refreshments. Once we had our fill, we rode Mission Space Green. While we were waiting for our door to be closed, Dave put a barf bag over his face as a joke. This clearly alarmed the CM who panicked, asking if he was okay. We laughed and told her he was fine

After our ride, Sabrina bought a princess Vinylmation - she couldn't let Alex have one and not her

We went to Mexico to ride Gran Fiesta next, and there was actually a line for this! It was only 5 minutes, but still! Dave put the barf bag over his face again - he's such a fool. We made Alex's day riding this, then he picked himself out a 3 Cabelleros t-shirt and played a little bongos.

It was time to save the world next (okay, just Mexico) and we went on an Agent P mission. Thankfully we were successful and Mexico is safe for another day!

Once Mexico was saved, it was time to find Mulan. She was on Sabrina's must-meet list as we had never seen her before. We had some difficulty establishing where she would be meeting because it was drizzling. The CMs there weren't sure if she would be inside or out. We guessed wrong and waited in a short line inside, only to have to hustle outside when we were told that's where she was.

I this picture.

By this time it was nearing our reservation for dinner at Garden Grill so we made our way there. The food was good, but we didn't love it, so I'm not sure if we'll be back here anytime soon. We did score awesome front tier seats though and we all got a kick out of seeing Living With the Land below us.

Happy with their glow straw drinks!

Alex drawing Chip for Chip

We were heading out of the park after dinner, but still managed a few stops on the way. We hit Sum of All Thrills where there were lots of jokes about the barf bag.

Then on to Mouse Gears where Sabrina bought a wallet and Alex bought baby Goofy - and of course, they tried stuff on

We stopped for a few PP pictures on the way out and I am so glad we did - they are my favourites of the whole trip. Alex asked if baby Goofy could be in the pictures and I didn't care, so he happily posed with him. This made my day when I saw the pictures of Dave and I kissing - check out whose eyes are covered. Not Alex's! LOL!

We were on the bus by 7:40, with lights out at 9:00 for the kids (and Dave ), and 11:00 for me. Another busy day, but relatively successful - still bummed about missing Sharon though!

Up Next: Well, that was a wash out!

What a nice day, sounds busy though. Sorry you missed Sharon too, but in all fairness. Epcot is really big and I can see why no one would want to double back from one area to another. I really like the Mulan picture too.

I'm glad you're going to try for a lot of updates over the break, but I'm not wanting the report to end! Your kids are so photogenic, and have very expressive faces. Must be the big, brown eyes! I love the two family PP photos. Great of all of you, and the kissing one is a riot!

Oh, absolutely - Epcot is huge! We tried to connect, but it wasn't meant to be. One day though!

Aww, thanks Laurie I am enjoying writing this, as it's fun to relive the trip. The kissing picture will be making it into a frame as soon as we get around to hanging some!

TUESDAY, AUGUST : Magic Kingdom

We got up around 7:30 today - Alex still feeling good, but I was totally congested. Yuck.

We got ready and headed for boat and happily found one waiting for us. As soon as we entered the park, the kids and I bee-lined right to Merida while Dave went to get PP FPs. While we waited, the kids got to shoot a bow and arrow, which they thought was really cool. There was no Photopass there when they did it, so I just snapped my own pictures.

Soon after we were done, one came, so I brought Sabrina down to ask if she could have another shot since there was nobody in line for it and I wanted a PP picture. The CM was rather miserable and snottily replied that there was one shot per guest. I said okay, not wanting to argue the point, and started to head back in line for Merida with Sabrina when the Photopass woman intervened. Since there was no one waiting and she hadn't taken her picture, she convinced the rather reluctant CM to give Sabrina another turn. I thanked her several times while Sabrina got set up to have her next shot (Alex didn't want another turn).

Once we met Merida, who was just adorable telling the kids all about how she shot her arrow into a nearby tree, we made our way over to Main Street Bakery for breakfast, then went for a ride on the Carousel and then Peter Pan (finally!).

From there we headed towards the hub. I really wanted a picture with the Partners statue, so I approached a PP photographer who kindly worked around a large group at the statue to get our picture. Then she asked if we had the CD; when I replied yes, she took us all around the hub and took pictures of us with all the little statues, then over to a light post with the decorations on it, then made sure we had one of just Dave and I. It was so much fun! We were with her for well over 10 minutes and we thanked her profusely when we left (but I forgot to write down her name).

I won't post them all

Up next was the Tiki Room at the request of the kids. Dave really dislikes this attraction, but it brings back fond memories for me, so I enjoy it and so do the kids. They laughed like loons at the bad jokes and sang along with the birds.

When we left TR, we saw that it was time for Eric and Ariel to be out, so we waited in line for them, although Miss Sabrina was very grumpy for some reason and quickly wore on our nerves. We still met Eric and Ariel, but the smiles were a little forced.

We went over to JC, but it started to rain, so we decided to grab lunch and then leave the park rather than wait 20 minutes for the ride in the rain.

We grabbed lunch at Casey's which was yummy as usual, then on the way out of the park, we signed up for Sorcerers of the MK, which caused my previously whining-to-leave kids to want to stay. We lured them out with the promise of swimming at the hotel and Sorcerers later.

Checking out his Sorcerer cards

We swam, and I did some laundry before we got ready to go to dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Before we started eating, I had to go buy Sabrina another autograph book as her was all filled up and I almost missed the start of the characters. The sisters were entertaining as always and were very upset with Sabrina when she told them that she thought they should be the real princess - followed quickly by 'Just Kidding!"

Sabrina's dessert Girl after my own heart!

Strawberry soup!!!!!!!

We headed over to MK again - but soon after we arrived it started to pour, so we got nothing done. The kids were not happy as they really wanted to save the MK. We realized it was just not going to let up, so we shopped a bit on way out with the kids trying some of the indoor portals on Main Street.

Nice update. Sorry the rain ruined the evening. I hope you got back to do Sorcerer Mickey and save the MK. I love your mini photo session. Sounds like the photopass photographers saved the day twice that day.

Too bad the rain kept interfering with your plans, but you still had fun! I love when you get a photopass person who really wants you to get your money's worth!
