Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day Four – Monday, October 8
A solo day

I was up early as usual. DM was flying home today, so she packed up to go. It was a short trip for her, but we both had a blast! Anyway, once I was ready and DM was all packed, we brought her suitcase down to RAC (have I mentioned how much I love this? Cuz I love this!).

We decided to take the boat over to the Yacht Club, only because it was right there and boats are my favorite mode of WDW transportation. I’d chosen this restaurant because I’d been wanting to try something on their menu since my visit there earlier in the year. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The restaurant was practically empty when we checked in, and we had to walk through what seemed like a maze of rooms to get to our table, but we were in a nice location, so it’s no big deal. This restaurant offers a buffet, but DM and I both decided to order from the menu. DM got eggs and I got oatmeal.

Steel-cut Oatmeal Brulee - brandied bananas, dried cranberries and sweet cream

I love oatmeal, I love bananas, and I think I’ve already mentioned here how much I love cranberries. This dish was made of awesome. DM wasn’t too impressed with her eggs though, so she wasn’t as thrilled with her meal as I was.

After breakfast, we walked back over to the BW. We went back to the room so DM could pick up her carryon bag, and then we went down to wait for her DME.

After DM left, I walked over to get the boat to DHS. While I was on the way, I got the reminder I’d requested from the Disney Mobile Magic app about my ADR. Only one problem: our ADR was at 8:30 and it was now 10:00. There are still some kinks to be worked out there. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that the reminder was sent at 10:00 because that’s when I made the ADR. But still, it doesn’t work as a reminder!

When I got into the park, I saw that RNRC was down. This has been the case a lot lately. I’m thinking maybe it needs a refurb. The other bad thing about RNRC being down is that all the other lines get longer – including TOT.

Speaking of TOT, the standby was 50 minutes, so I grabbed a FP for later and walked over to ride the GMR. Both sides were open this day, but I got the gangster version. The gangster version is always open, the cowboy version only when the park is really busy.

By the time I’d finished that, my TOT FP was ripe, so I walked over to use it. I picked up a FP for another drop before I got in line.

When I’d finished with my ride on TOT, I walked over and found that RNRC was back up! It must’ve opened up right before I got there, because the standby line was pretty short.

Once I’d done that, I walked back over and noticed that the standby for TOT was reasonable, so I hopped in the queue for another drop. And then immediately rode again using my FP. This time I rode with a couple of enthusiastic teen boys. One was trying to get the other one to put his hands up. The other one was like no way! At least I put my hands up, which made the first kid happy.

I’d done about all I needed to do at DHS, and my tummy was feeling a little empty, so I figured it was time to leave the park and head on over to Epcot.

A boat was waiting, so I made a run for it. I’m always afraid that they’ll leave me, but there were a couple of people running about 20 feet ahead of me, so I figured they’d wait for us. They did.

Once at Epcot, I walked around to Belgium to start my grazing. The Belgian waffle is a favorite of mine, and it was just as good as I remembered.

Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream, $3.00

Then I walked over to Japan. I don’t eat sushi, so it wasn’t hard to make a choice here.

Sukiyaki Beef Pan (Marinated Thinly Sliced Rib Eye with Sauteed Onions and Teriyaki Sauce Served in a Bun) $4.50, Sake Strawberry Mist $6.00

I found it a bit weird that it was served in a hot dog bun, but it was tasty. I loved the paper umbrella in my little drink more than I loved the drink. But I really was curious how frozen sake would taste. It’s just ok, in my opinion.

I finished off the sukiyaki beef pan and then walked with my sake strawberry mist. When I got to the DVC kiosk, the CM there started chatting me up, and we talked for a while until a non-member came along and I moved on.

I decided to see what the miniature Germans were up to. Celebrating their mini F&WF, naturally.

I don’t know what’s going on in this one It looks like someone spilled paint

While I was in Germany, I did some sampling.

Schinken Nudel (Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese), $3.25

This is basically mac and cheese (with ham in it). I always enjoy non-American style mac and cheese, but I really can’t stand American style mac and cheese! Go figure!

My next stop was the Scandinavia booth.

Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberries, $4.00

This is one of my favorites! I love Swedish meatballs and hardly ever get to eat them. I don’t visit Swedish restaurants often.

I was getting full, so I decided to head to Future World and take in an attraction or two. It was stinkin’ hot, so I figured Ellen’s Air Conditioning Adventure was a good choice. I do enjoy the ride, but I admit, I enjoy the AC on hot days just as much.

When that ended, I walked around for a bit. I stopped to watch the fountain show, which I feel is an overlooked attraction. I felt like taking a short break, so I strolled back to the Boardwalk and relaxed there for a while. I thought about going in the pool, but I was feeling too lazy to change and then shower, so I just sat out and relaxed.

When I got hungry again, it was time to head on back to Epcot. I really made the most of staying at an Epcot resort this trip! I decided to walk to the area near Mexico before I sampled anything, because it seemed I was always too full to try anything once I got to that area!

I got the beef skewers in Argentina, and boy were they yummy! I’d put them in my top 5!

Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Puree, $5.00

Next was the lettuce wrap from South Korea, one of my favorites from last year. It was just as good this year.

Lettuce Wrap with Roast Pork and Kimchi Slaw, $3.25

It’s kind of hot, but I am kind of a wimp when it comes to hot stuff, and I can handle it. And I think at $3.25, it’s a pretty good bargain.

It started to drizzle a bit, but that didn’t slow me down! I should mention that even though it was a holiday (Columbus Day), the crowds weren’t bad this day. My next stop was in China. As much as I love pot stickers, I didn’t get them. First, the ones at Disney are completely ordinary. And second, I wanted to get something I hadn’t eaten before.

Mango Tapioca Pudding, $3.25

It was good, but not great. I’d eat it again, though. I was starting to get full again and now I felt like getting in the hot tub, so I strolled back to the BW. A boat was waiting, but it wasn’t running because there was lightning in the area. No worries, it’s a very short walk.

After my little break at the hotel, I went over to DHS. I had one thing on my mind. Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Gotcha! I decided I’d ride TOT a few times in a row, so I just kept getting in the standby line. Luck was with me because I was able to ride it 3 times with 25 minutes being my longest wait. It also helps that I was solo – they called for a single rider all three times!

Having gotten in a sufficient number of drops to tide me over until my next trip, I decided to call it a night. I caught the boat back to the BW and went to bed.

Just started reading this, I am so behind. So sorry that everything had you running behind, I just hate that when it seems like every little thing is determined to get in your way. lol I love your room and balcony, so cute! I love MNSSHP, we missed so much when we went 2 years ago that I want to go again. You should have posted pictures of you and your Mom at that party, I would love to see the hat. Your Mom is just too adorable with her obsession with candy. I am surprised that she got that far after Cosmic Rays before getting some candy to eat! :-)

What a yummy trip around the world! Delicious choices there. I'm soooo hungry now, and no food in my near future. Sad your mom had to go, but I bet you won't be alone for long. You are a rock star down there, with Passporter paparrazi ready to hunt you down

You got me with the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Wow, TOT 3 times in a row! I think I wouldn't be able to do that, although I've never ridden more than once.

Wow, what a great day! Starting with the oatmeal at the Yacht Club! That looked delicious!
I love how you spent your day, walking back and forth from BW to DHS to BW to Epcot! That is precisely the reason we want to stay at BW one of these times!

Sad that your Mom has headed home already. Your food choices sound good. Love that you went back n forth betwee the two Parks... nice use of the closeness and AP. The Oatmeal Brulee looks really good. I have been on a hot cereal and banana kick lately.
