PTR....Universal Adventures of Dreams and an Expanding world part 2 - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just a few more days!!!!
I can't wait!!
We have a new friend joining us for the whole trip. Claire is very exciting he has decided to join us.
And the best part, he's completely free!
He is "Flat Ben"!
He was sent to me by Dee, Natebenma on Dis.
Her sone Ben wanted to go to Disney very badly this year and even made a powerpoint presentation on why he should go. Sadly, they are not going, but they have traveled this year, so don't feel too sorry for Ben.
But since Ben wanted to go so badly, Dee has made a few Flat Bens and has been sending them off to travelers so Ben could still experience Disney.
I have not taken his picture ...yet. But we plan to have some fun with him.
Weather here has not been nice, but we are no where near as bad as others. We are having sleet today, but word is that Columbus is getting snow. Columbus being the airport I am flying out of. Let's hope and pray it's not much and things go smoothly. Who would've thought I would need to wrry about snow for a flight on Nov. 2.
In other news, I have read that the eye of Sandy went right through Castaway Cay. I have not heard of any damage reports at this point. I think today will have the 1st ship dock there since the hurricane. I really hope the island is not damaged too badly. Claire will really be upset if we don't make it there. She is talking about snorkeling almost daily now. But whatever happens, we will make the best of it.
Hope Castaway Cay made it through Sandy unscathed!
We got word that a few excursions on both Nassau and Castaway Cay have been canceled. It will be interesting to see how the island looks next week.

YES. We head down to Columbus tomorrow afternoon and wil lbe flying out early on Friday. I can't wait to get away.
Paige decided to go back with her boyfriend. I just had a feeling that she would, but I didn't want to influence her one way or the other. She has to do what her heart tells her...and sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Thanks for the well wishes.
I am not sure if I will have time to get on tomorrow. I have to type a paper tomorrow for work and have it delivered by 2:30 ...we plan to leave for my sisters around 3:30. The thing is, I can't even start it yet, as I need to make a phone call tomorrow before t oreconfimr some info that was given to me that I belive to be wrong, or explained to me better if it is right.
I also have a few lat minute things to finish up packing wise. I am to the point though that if it's forgotten, we'll live. I just need to be sure I have my cameras and chargers and medications and then I will be good. Who cares if I have to go naked for 2 weeks. LOL
We received a beautiful backsack, themed in Halloween Mickey from my wonderful Dis friend Lisa...aka Mickeystoontown.
This was such a wonderful surprise. Claire absolutely loved it and used it tonight while we trick or treated. She was a girl vampire by the way. You wouldn't have really known it though, as she was just dressed in what looked like a witch dress and she refused to put in the ever so important teeth. Not even for a picture, which sadly I only took a couple since it was misty rainy out tonight and didn't want to lug the camera out in that.
She will be bringing this wonderful backsack to the Halloween party at Disney as well.
I want to thank everyone for following along with me for the past several crazy months. I will be writing a TR for this trip as well, and once I get it started I will post a link here.
Happy Halloween Everyone!!!!
So reality has hit. I am home and I realized I really hate being home. Disney is so much more fun!
I am faced with a stack of work to do and a house to clean.
Luckily MIL came over and did dishes and did a load of laundry for Skip while I was gone, but since then we have done a nice job of adding more laundry and making a huge mess in the house with piles of things that need to be put away. I started on it and then I faded quickly.
Pictures are loaded to the computer now though, thats a plus. I took a lot of pictures, BUT for the amount of time we were gone, it kind of is a low number for me. I took 5555 pictures between my 3 cameras. I also have some pictures form the cruise CD my sister bought. Since we often did the 3 kids together, the face recognition tended to put most of my pictures on her account. We also did photopass, and I have been trying to fight the site to get those done as well. Sadly, Claire wasn't big on character meets this year, so we didn't get a lot of photopass for the amount of time we spent there.
I have a few teaser photos edited. Not many yet done, but I wanted to post a few.
My first meet of the Trip. Carrie
A highlight at Animal Kingdom Lodge, going down the slide.
We loved the wild life at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
