I LOVE Comedians with Guitars......You didn't tell me that part...COMPLETE 2/28/13 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I made a potty stop and since I was alone in there, I took a few shots.
Most of the public bathrooms looked like this on the Magic. On the Dream I think every bathroom was different. I thought these were nice, but I liked having different ones on the Dream..
I headed towards the shops.
I ran into Brook and Carolyn in there.
They were going to head to deck 4 to take a walk so I joined them.
We went out to deck 4 and began our walking. I couldn’t really go too fast because I had on girly sandals. If you know me, you know I have awful feet and they hurt with just about any shoe, but a few tennis shoes.
Deck 4 is just beautiful and peaceful. The Titanic deck as I refer to it.
This is also the running track deck. We went with the flow, and yes, there were some joggers out this night, and soon we came upon this at the front of the ship.
We were so excited. We never knew this area existed. It was like a jackpot for a Disney Geek. Who knew this room existed? I swear I have never seen pictures of it before anywhere either. So I took a couple of shots of what I call the anchor room. The jogging path goes right through it.
After our geeky excitement of finding this hidden anchor room, that really isn’t so hidden, we kept walking.
We found some portholes and took a look in. It was Animators Palates kitchen.
We walked and talked and it was just so nice. If you have cruised before you know the wonderful sound of the hum of the ship and the water sloshing around. I need a sound machine with that sound.
I mentioned that I wasn’t sure how Lisa was enjoying the cruise. She isn’t one to show lots of emotion and though I thought she was having a good time, I wasn’t positive. There was an incident many years ago with Lisa when she traveled with someone else and she said it was awful. She would lock herself in the hotel bathroom and call her husband, trying to figure out a way to get home, or spend time without this other person. I was hoping she wasn’t having these same sorts of feelings.
A blurry shot of the Titanic Deck.
In case you are interested, here is the info on the distance for walking/jogging this deck.
It was time for me to head back in. I think Carolyn and Brook did too. I think it was just a little after 11 now.
I guess somewhere along the line I walked past the laundry room because those are my last pictures of the night.
I do believe Lisa was sleeping when I got back. I think she did wake up and tell me there was an irritating noise so she had turned the TV on to block it. And there was. We never figured out what it was, but it came from the ceiling right by the sliding door to the balcony. It kind of sounded like a bit of static or popping of some sort between the floors in the vents. It wasn’t bad, but when sleeping it could be annoying at times.
I got ready for bed and worried I wouldn’t sleep. I have such anxiety on vacation that sleeping is very hard for me. But I did drift off and was woke up by Lisa making her way to the bathroom and she had ran into my bed. LOL The rest of the night was good until I rolled over against the wall my bed was against and hit the light switch on accident and we got a bright awakening then too. But I quickly turned them off and back to dream land we went.
I'm sure I've put photos of that hidden anchor room in my reports before, but what I've never seen before is that view of the kitchen of Animator's Palete - now that's really neat!

Great photos around the ship! Dinner looked good! But I have to add, the Sweet Temptations doesn't look too good. It must be because you put a photo of the Sea Bass.
I love Deck 4, too (but prefer not to think of it as the "Titanic" deck ). It just looks like the classic on-board shots of trans-Atlantic ships from old black & white movies.
I've seen that crazy equipment room that the jogging track goes through-- so unexpected!

Oh my goodness. I didn't catch that. I will fix it when I get home.
I too thought the Grand Marnier souffle was just as good as the chocolate souffle at Palo!
I never noticed port holes looking into the kitchen when I was on the Wonder... very cool!
It was really cool to take a peak in

I bet that was before I started following you. I know you would've seen it before for sure. I was just so excited to see it. LOL
I was amazed we could take a peak in the kitchen too.

I love that old classic ship look. At first when Disney came out, and I was younger of course .... I wasn't sure, but i soon grew to like the look. Now I just look at them compared to pother ships and think how beautiful they are. I want to stick my tongue out at others while I board the Disney ship. LOL
You will have such a blast.
Do you have any port Adventures planned?
We have 1 port adventure booked, the Nautilus Undersea Tour at Grand Cayman. We will be traveling with my DGS, who is 3 years old, so we were limited to which excursions we could do. We will probably get off the ship at the other ports and just walk around for a bit and then return to the ship.

That sounds fun.
In Costa Maya they have a lot of shopping right in this little port area. Also they have a pool there too free to use. Lots of people just stayed there all day.

I didn’t keep very good notes, but I think I most likely woke around 6:30. I think Lisa was still sleeping so I got dressed and went out to get a drink.
I finally remembered to get a picture of our door as I headed out.
I got a hot chocolate and a banana and sat down and to write a few notes in my notebook and talked to a few other early risers. The crew was busy at work.
After a good chat with some fellow passengers I headed back to the room.
Lisa was up and we headed to fill our bellies at Topsiders.
We sat next to the window and this was our beautiful view this morning.
And my plate.
While we sat and ate and chatted, we saw Brook and Carolyn come in. We didn’t holler to them, so I don’t think they ever saw us.
I think they are in this picture.
After we ate, we headed back to our room. Our plan was to go for a walk around deck 4.
I took a couple more quick pictures while we were there. As I had said, I was warned that the Magic had some wear and tear. The balcony was where it shown most to me. It has rust spots and paint splatters. I am not sure if I took any other pictures of it later in the cruise. In this one you can see the paint splatters on the deck chair.
This is our cooling box in the room. It does NOT get very cold at all.
Thanks so much for the great trip report! I am really enjoying reading it.... I get home and the first thing I do is check to see if there are more pictures....
My family and I will be sailing out of Galveston in February. We would love to participate in the Fish Extender thing - but not sure how to do that - can you point us in the right direction?
