Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What a fun filled day. The Boys make great looking Pirates. The Pirate look that Noah has with blue eye on the eye lids , I think is my favorite. The pictures on the 2 tier bus are amongst my favorites.

Getting caught up again. You got lots of great family photos over these last few days. How cool about the CM on the bus!

I am cracking up about the weapons. My boys always come home from Disney with an arsenal of weapons, all of which are somehow totally different than any of the weapons in their stash at home. Sheesh, boys!!

Your nephews look very fierce as pirates.

I have to say that I really love this picture, Sharon:

And it obviously worked because you lived to tell the tale!

[We both know that dead folks "tell no tales", don't we? Really, REALLY well. ]

Loved all your updates The boys looked so adorable in their pirate faces! I've never seen a PP at PP before but it's a great idea to have someone there. I've tried to get a picture of whoever I'm riding with either before or right after we're getting off but it's a difficult shot to take!

Day Six – Thursday, August 30
Who farted?!?

I was up early as usual this morning. Everyone was excited to get to AK because collectively, it’s our favorite park. I had planned to visit on Sunday, but it didn’t work out, so the boys had to wait until the end of the trip. So it wasn’t hard to convince everyone to be ready to leave nice and early and get to the park at opening.

After a nice breakfast, everyone was ready to go on time. DM wanted her picture taken in the lobby. I mentioned it is hard to get a good picture of Daniel and Isaiah. It’s even harder to get one of my mom. When she sees a camera, she gets very self-conscious and tenses up and makes horrible stiff faces. This causes her to look bad in the photo. Which causes her to be more self-conscious. Sigh. Anyway, after about 10 tries (no joke), we got a passable one.

I love my mom, so I'm not posting the rejects. We caught a bus to AK and arrived at the park just a few minutes after opening. Not bad! I didn’t even bother to ask the boys what they wanted to do first – I knew the answer to that! We did stop for just a minute to get a Photopass picture.

Then, EE. It was nice and early, so we breezed right through the queue without stopping.

There’s that face again! And both DSIL and I forgot to bring eye makeup remover, so we couldn't get Isaiah’s face paint totally off. A little more would come off each time we wiped his eyes, so he didn’t look like Nestor Carbonell for too long! Not that there’s anything wrong with looking like Nestor Carbonell.

Of course, we wanted to ride again, so we did. I actually think we went three times in a row. Here’s one of our ride photos. I have no idea why it's backwards.

We were in the front row this time - Isaiah’s very first time in row 1. The boys wanted to do Dinosaur, but on the way, Isaiah decided he wanted to ride Primeval Whirl. Nobody else wanted to, so guess who got to with him. Auntie. I don’t like PE, but it’s not exactly the worst thing in the world. Anyway, after we rode, I noticed I’d missed a text from Heather. I replied, but I don’t know if it ever went through. Then we caught up with the rest of the family. Goofy was greeting his fans, so the boys went to say hello.

Then the boys, their parents and my DF went to ride Dinosaur. I’m not sure why I skipped it – I usually like it. I remember! I was trying to send a message to let Heather know where to meet us. Unfortunately, by the time my message got through, she was already on her way home.

It looked like they had fun on the ride.

I love Daniel and Noah mugging for the camera. I knew when their ride was finished because Daniel came out and asked me to buy him a dinosaur that his father wouldn’t get for him. I can’t say no, especially because he rarely asks for anything (unlike Isaiah, who asks for everything, and I still can’t say no!). Unfortunately, because we were switching resorts the next day, we couldn’t get it shipped to our resort, so I had it shipped to the front of the park so at least Daniel wouldn’t have to lug it around all day.

The boys were ready to ride EE again. We walked over there and rode it a time or two. I know I sat out at least once so I could check them in for their flight home the next day. That went so fast!

We were ready for lunch and everyone thought my choice of Flame Tree Barbecue was a good one (of course ). We walked over there and everyone got something. I found us a nice table in a quiet area with ceiling fans. There was one other family sitting there, and the Dad thought it was fun to feed the birds. Even though it was clearly upsetting his teen daughter (I assume they were related).

The funny thing is we all started loudly talking to each other about how it’s unhealthy for the animals to feed them, and showing the boys the cards they put on every stinkin’ tray “your yummies are not good for our tummies.” After a few minutes of this, one of the other kids in their group picked up the card and showed it to the dad and he finally stopped feeding the dang birds!

After lunch, we decided to visit Pooh and his friends, because they were so close. It was a very hot and humid day (August in Orlando tends to be that way ), and the little overhead fans weren’t doing much to cool us off. We got to be the second family in line and then Pooh went in for a quick hunny break. Eeyore followed shortly thereafter, but they were both back within a few minutes. Tigger didn’t take a break. All of this will be important in a bit.

Anyway, while we waited, I tried to get Isaiah to ask Pooh if he had any hunny. Isaiah didn’t exactly trust me, because usually when I ask a character something, they get all mad at me. But I assured him that Pooh loves hunny and he could ask him without making him mad. Once Pooh was back, the other family went and then it was our turn. Isaiah loved Pooh, but I think Pooh fell in love with Isi!

Pooh was pretty much smitten with Isaiah and gave him lots of hugs

Then we met Eeyore. I told Isaiah to give Eeyore an extra hug so he wouldn’t be so sad. Isaiah said something to Eeyore, but it was when he was smothered in Eeyore (first pic), so I didn’t hear it. Whatever it was, Eeyore liked it and hugged Isi even tighter. Cute!

And then we met Tigger. Now you’ll remember, Tigger hadn’t gone in for a break, so he was probably a little worn out and a lot hot. Anyway, Isaiah was as enthusiastic as ever about meeting him. But then I had to go open up my big mouth and say, “Bounce with Tigger, Isaiah!” Well, Tigger didn’t want to hear that! He looked at me and shook his head and made that throat-slashing motion. It was hysterical! I figured out he was hot and tired so I quickly tried changing the subject. Then Tigger pointed to me, indicating I should bounce with Isaiah. Well, I started it, so I went ahead and bounced with Isaiah (thankfully there is no photographic evidence of that).

I let Tigger off the hook for bouncing, but Isaiah did bounce on his own.

Good times! And you know what, that wasn’t even our funniest character encounter of the day! I wanted to get us over to RPW (and Jackie really wanted Isaiah to meet Rafiki), so that was our next destination. We got a little sidetracked, though, when the line for Russell and Dug was short and we joined it.

Daniel was feeling icky (I think he was a little dehydrated), so he got a bottle of water and sat in the air conditioned gift shop while the rest of us waited to meet Russell and Dug. I tried to get Isaiah to say “Squirrel!” to Dug, but he still didn’t trust me completely. However, I finally convinced him to do it. Again here, we got to be the second family in line and then the characters had to go in for a break.

When they came back, they were obviously refreshed. They were dancing around and everything. Cute! Anyway, the other family went and then it was our turn. We usually send Isi up first so we can all watch and “awwwwww.”

And then… he did it! He said it!

“Squirrel!”

Oh my goodness, it was THE BEST! Dug went rushing into the bushes where Isaiah had pointed, looking for a squirrel. Everyone, including the folks waiting behind us, was cracking up! The Photopass photographers had to finally come and drag Dug out of the woods.
