We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 42 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love all the purchases! I have a mug with the same Walt and Mickey art on it and it's my favorite.
Your final wrap-up is so wonderful and totally came across as you were writing up each day of the trip. I hear so often that parents either see how much their children have grown and changed at WDW or they feel that WDW helped their children to reach certain milestones. Something about the atmosphere at WDW feels so safe and I guess children of every description can feel that and are freed to try new things and grow. Even if "all" you experienced was a happy time together that's magic enough, but so often there's so much more!
Thank you so much! I'm glad my thoughts were clear and not rambling. I have a tendency to ramble. I was a truly incredible trip!

I look forward to hearing all about your next trip when the time comes.

I'm so glad that the magic of Disney has helped make traveling a possibility for your family! I can't wait to hear about your next trip, whenever it is! Thanks for sharing this one with us.
Thanks! I love that shirt too! I got it at the World of Disney store in DTD. Thanks for following us on our adventure!

You have two very special kids, and I loved seeing Disney through their eyes.
Thanks Cam! Thanks for the compliment on the final thoughts! I tend to go round and round in circles. Thank you so much for following me on our adventure! I am really glad you enjoyed it and I have to agree that I do have two pretty special kids.

Sometimes to learn what we can do we have to try what we think we cannot do. And now that you know what Selah can handle you've got a whole lot more world to explore with her. Both at WDW and outside of the Disney bubble.
That's right! Thanks so much for following us on our adventure!

Your final thoughts were beautifully written. Even though I've really only gotten to know you and your family over the course of this TR, I have enjoyed seeing how Asher and Selah each experienced Disney World in their own special ways and seeing you beam with pride over how they exceeded your expectations. You have a really lovely family, and I'm so happy to hear that this Disney trip has opened some additional options for you in terms of family travel.
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us!
I love that shirt! I get the most compliments on it...once people realize what it is.
Thanks so much for following along! I have enjoyed doing this TR getting to know everyone a little through it!
Great purchases!!! Great final thoughts too. Thank you for sharing your trip with us!!!

I think it's great that WDW opened doors for your family, and you're now able to go to do various things as a family. :_
Thank you for sharing your journey with us all, I will be around for the next trip!

Thanks so much for following us on our adventure! You are so right about that and I'm glad we took that chance too!

Your final thoughts are inspiring, I am glad that your Disney experience with Selah turned out to be a positive one for you and your family and I hope each future vacation is just as wonderful.
I didn't know they had adult stuff in there either until Jamie saw those pj's. I love them! Wish I had another pair!
Thank you so much!

Love the final thoughts. You like to do things bass-ackwards (as my dad used to say). I don't think I would have taken my kids on a big expensive trip to WDW first. I would have done the mountains and family and then if all went well then spent the money on Disney. But I'm so glad it all worked out for you and that this trip helped open the travel doors for your family.
Thanks for sharing
I know it seem like we did things backwards for the trips but with the Disney trip we were really only disrupting ourselves and strangers that we would never see again. I was really more worried about staying at my grandparents house in Kansas than I had been about the Disney trip because I didn't want Selah to be too loud for them. I know that if we had not first gone to Disney and seen how well she did, the Kansas trip (at least the part leading up to it) would have made me really nervous.

Thanks for reading and for your kind words of encouragement!
Ok, it's been over a year since you took this trip and I've only read about your first MK day, but I absolutely HAD to leave a comment about how awesome your TR is! I have strep throat right now, so I've been reading a ton of TRs to distract myself. Selah's reaction to meeting Mickey and Minnie made my heart melt. It's also so cool that she loved so many of the rides too! Asher also seems like a really cool kid. A nine year old boy who is patient with his little sister (special needs or not) can be rare! I'm impressed that he was willing to try things he was nervous about. There would be no way you could have gotten me on Splash Mountain when I was nine!

Thanks for checking out my TR! I really enjoyed writing it and can't wait to be able to write another one. Hopefully I will have that opportunity next year. We will just have to see what happens. Sorry it took me forever to respond to this. I thought I already had.
I was so happy to see a couple of posts from you recently and also to see your new sig pic of Selah. I'm glad to hear there's another trip in the planning stages.
