As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). My cousin (she's more like a niece because of the age difference) is getting married in Las Vegas in October. Does anyone know of a reputable and reliable shuttle service that can get me from/to the airport and hotel that doesn't cost a small fortune. I looked in to Super Shuttle and it's $80 as they don't offer the shared ride vans that they do other places and unfortunately hotels in Vegas don't seem to offer airport shuttles like so many hotels in other cities do. Oh and I don't drive so renting a car is not an option.
There are tons of shuttles right at the airport, they run about $18 per person, but I don't remember if that's one way or round trip. Honestly, I would just take a cab if it's just you or you and others but only going to one hotel. Just make sure to tell the driver no tunnel!
The exit for taxi's is well marked at the airport from luggage pickup. It's probably the easiest way. The is basically at the end of the Strip, so the hotels aren't that far. The taxi ride is about $18 bucks (one way). Once your at your hotel if you don't want to walk places, you can look into the monorail. It's a little pricey but worth it to be able to get around on the strip.
What hotel are you staying at? I've taken a shuttle and a cab. Vegas cab prices aren't too bad and there are shuttles that are available. They stop at several hotels. The airport is at the very south end of the strip. If you are at one of those hotels or even the mid strip ones a cab wouldn't be too bad - even if you're alone. I can't imagine any hotel in town that would be an $80 cab ride.

The Rio is only about 3 blocks from the Strip. Although I've never stayed there - it's an awesome hotel. Once your there, they also have a shuttle from the Rio to Bally's, which is on the strip, if you want to explore. I can't see cab fare being that expensive - in the $20 dollar range.
Thanks. You guys are great. I'm now contemplating changing my October DW trip dates & flying from Vegas to Orlando so the trip would be Seattle to Las Vegas, wedding, Las Vegas to Orlando, DW, Orlando to Seattle.

I've taken Bell Shuttle a few times. They'll have a stand or booth near the transportation area. Sometimes the cab line is super long (30 minute wait long), so it's almost a wash between waiting for the cab and then getting a straight shot to your hotel, or getting a service like Bell Shuttle where you'll be on your shuttle in 5 minutes but have to make several stops before getting to your hotel.
It's been a while since I've flown to Vegas (I usually drive), and I seem to recall Bell costing $6 or $7, each way. As with all things, it might have gone up since then, but I've been happy with their service. You just have to make sure you call them the day before your departure flight to schedule a pick up time at your hotel...and be sure you're on time because they don't check names...they just arrive at whatever time they tell you, and once all the people waiting are on board, they leave.
The Rio is fun! Have a great time, and I hope you're able to add in that trip to Orlando!

I don't think I could handle Vegas and Disney in one trip!! Sounds like fun!
I'm not really "doing" Vegas as it has absolutely no appeal for me. I would be flying in for the wedding spending the night and leaving the next morning either for Orlando or Seattle. If I don't change the dates of my DW trip I would fly home on a Friday and leave for Orlando five days later on Wednesday. Honestly, if the wedding was in the early afternoon (instead of evening)I probably wouldn't even spend the night.
I always think of Las Vegas as kind of an adult WDW. There are so many things to do and see that most people can find something they like. I've never stayed at the Rio, but I have visited there many times. They have a Seafood Buffet that I really enjoy and the view from the restaurant/bar at the top of the hotel is amazing at night. I'll also mention that the Palms hotel across the street has an Earl of Sandwich - and it's open 24 hours a day!
We've been to Vegas and Disney in the same trip a couple of times before and it worked out great for us. We may be stopping off for a show in December before our flight home, but I haven't yet decided.
