We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 40 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great ending to your trip! I love Beaches and Cream! My family & I ordered the Kitchen Sink during our last WDW trip. We made it to about 1/3 of it left. It was overload on ice cream, toppings and whipped cream. But, at least we tried it!
We stayed at BC for our August 2010 trip. We loved it and I think it is our favorite resort. Of course we had only stayed at CSR before...
We did not consider it for this trip because we are getting the water parks pass and we think we would not be able to make good use of the BC pool and the water parks. Last trip we also have a 40% off pin code and we went suring value season so it was more affordable.
This trip we really wanted to try to have a place with a separate bedroom and that is why we chose OKW. (After Hannah's stressful summer I think we will appreciate the extra space even more than I had originally anticipated) Even with the 30% pin code it was not in our budget or the entire week so we are starting at POR. I think our resort costs for 5 days at POR and 5 days at OKW (with 30% off each) are similar to what we paid for 10 days at BC last time.

YAY! so glad you are back. Congrats on getting the computer fixed. Happy to hear you had a nice 2 weeks in Kansas. Yes you should do a TR but let us know when you start. I did that too. I went away for a weekend and had such a great time I just had to do a TR to share. It makes the trip seem to last longer that way. Glad the drive home was uneventful - that always is a good thing. Your last day sounds nice and I'm glad you can laugh about thr planking now. B&C looks yummy. I would love to stay at the BC, it is my dream resort but just always out of budget for me.
Looking forward to hearing your final thoughts.
I'm sad too. I'm sitting here dreaming of our next trip.

An uneventful ride is definitely a good ride! I'm glad to have my computer back too!

Thanks! That's awesome that you tackled the Kitchen Sink! We may have to try it one day when the kids are a little older!

We would love to stay at BC sometime but I'm just not sure when that time will be. As long as I can go to WDW I'm happy with wherever we stay.

I don't know if I'm going to do a TR of the Kansas trip or not. I have been so busy lately that I am having problems just finishing this one. I will let you know if I do though. I feel the same about BC and it is just in our dreams too for the moment. One day...
Before I share my final thoughts on this trip I want to show you the last of the pictures. This is the pictures of our purchases throughout the week. I didn't think to take the pictures until later so I just left it for the end.
The bag is the one we got for our niece, Piper, for her birthday. The cup we got one for my mom and one for us.
These are the pins we got for my sister and her new husband. They are going to WDW in October and this will be his and my sisters little girls first trips. My sister has been several times.
A closeup of the cup.
Asher's cups, Selah's socks from Lil Miss Match (she saw them and didn't want to let them go, they are Minnie Mouse), Selah's parasol, my pj's from Lil Miss Match. Selahs books that we had signed. Ashers giraffe.
A dress we got for Selah at AK, Ashers giraffe, my pj's and our folder from Chef Mickey's.
My t-shirt.
Frames
There are a few things that I never took pictures of. I realized later. Selah got a really cute Minnie Mouse shirt. That's the only thing I can remember right now.
Final thoughts.
I think this part is the hardest part for me to put into words. The rest of the TR is a story that I told. A true story and not something I just had to come up with. The final thoughts are just more difficult for me for some reason.
For several years we dreamed of going to WDW again. It was something that we feared would never happen again for so many reasons. Then when Jamie came home one day last fall and said, "we need a vacation, lets go to Disney World." I thought he was either kidding or crazy. I can't remember exactly what I said but I'm sure it was something along the lines of, "how do you plan to do that?" I didn't see that as a possibility. He told me his thoughts and all the sudden a far off dream seemed like a possibility. It didn't take much to convince me. I was still nervous about it but I was ready if he was. Then when the time came it was more wonderful than we imagined. This trip showed us the possibilities for our family. We don't have to stay home all the time. We don't have to go out as a family of 3 when we are really a family of 4. Is it easy to go out with Selah? No. Will it get easier? I absolutely believe it will! We saw her grow so much on this trip! We saw how much Asher had already grown on this trip. I think being out of our element really made us see more clearly how much he had grown. Since coming home from our trip we have done more outside of our home together with both of the kids. We have been on two more trips since our WDW trip. The first was in June to Kansas to visit my family. We had a great time. We went to a lot of museums, the zoo, restaurants and friends houses and Selah did great every where. Before the Disney trip we would not have taken her to a museum and going to peoples houses that are not around her often is probably not something we would do either but we saw so much positive with her and I think we learned more about her. After our Kansas trip we took a short trip to the mountains and stayed in some of Jamies family's mountain house. We were only there for 2 days but we were there with another family. There were 6 kids total and Selah again did great! I don't think we would have made either of those two trips if not first going to WDW. Traveling just seemed to be something no longer for us. Now we know we can travel and Selah does wonderfully. We are all very much looking forward to going back to Disney World again soon! I don't know when that trip will be but I will be sure to let you all know!

I love all the purchases! I have a mug with the same Walt and Mickey art on it and it's my favorite.
Your final wrap-up is so wonderful and totally came across as you were writing up each day of the trip. I hear so often that parents either see how much their children have grown and changed at WDW or they feel that WDW helped their children to reach certain milestones. Something about the atmosphere at WDW feels so safe and I guess children of every description can feel that and are freed to try new things and grow. Even if "all" you experienced was a happy time together that's magic enough, but so often there's so much more!

Wonderful purchases!!! Love your final thoughts, I am so glad this trip opened so many new doors for you, I loved seeing you all enjoy on this trip, Asher was just so happy and you can tell how helpful he is, and seeing Selah smiling, totally having a great time...well I am sure that was the best gift for all of you. I look forward to hearing all about your next trip when the time comes.
