Goin' Down the Bayou, a PTR ~ November 1-10 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That is my most Disney song When it comes on my iPod I have to play it a few times coz it's just not long enough. Ray is my fave character from the film too Great ADRs, I can make mine on June 2nd so I'm excited.
We love Ray! We were so sad with the way things ended for him, but Disney made up for it by letting him sit beside his Evangeline in the night sky I hope you got all of your ADRs on Saturday!!
Since we are leaving so late on Thursday, I figured I would combine our departure with our Day 1 plans
Our flight is scheduled to leave JFK at 7:15 pm on Thursday, getting us to Orlando by 10:15 pm. Chris will be working until 2 pm this day, so while the girls are at school I'll spend the day packing up the last of our things. I'll have Chris pack everything into the car when he gets home, then at 3:30 we'll head up the block to pick the girls from school. After a quick snack and change of clothes for them, we'll jump in the car to make the trek out to Queens hopefully by 4 pm. The trip should only take an hour, but that's without traffic and there is rarely no traffic when heading through Staten Island
I'm going to use the power of wishful thinking that there are no delays that evening and we arrive in Orlando on schedule , especially since it's going to be a late night even if we get in on time. Since it will be so late, we'll grab our own luggage before heading over to DME. I'm hoping I'm being generous with my estimate, but I expect to be checked in at POR by midnight.
We'll take it easy the next morning, hopefully sleeping in a bit (yeah right, I know the girls will be up bright and early - who am I kidding, I will be too - excited to be in Disney!) I think we will spend the morning checking out the resort, I know the girls are excited about the pool and the fishing hole, so those are definitely on the list. Here's a tidbit of info, I read somewhere that they use hotdogs there as bait for the fish Who knew that fish liked hot dogs?!?!
I think we will probably grab a quick lunch at the POR foodcourt, and at some point in the afternoon head over to the MK. This night is the last MNSSHP, so it will be a good time to see the Halloween deocorations before they are taken down. After a few hours at the MK we will head over to the CR for our 6:30 pm dinner at Chef Mickey's. I HAD to get us an ADR here this trip, since last year I got so much flack from the girls for not including it in our plans I decided to change it up from our normal breakfast here and try dinner instead.
We've never spent a lot of time at CR, so after dinner I think we will spend some time exploring the resort. Depending on how we feel, we might head over to the Poly to watch Hallowishes from the beach. Does anyone know if they pipe in the music for the party fireworks over there too? My BFF and her family arrive this evening, so they may join us for the fireworks too
150 days to go!
The evening star is shinin' bright. So make a wish and hold on tight. There's magic in the air tonight, and anything can happen.~ Princess Tiana
fish love hotdogs.....who knew is right. Arnaud and I were on an NCL crusie a few yrs ago and on the private island this crazy lady was bringing hotdogs from the buffet set up into the water and really hand feeding the fish.....it was so bizarre, I couldn't believe it.
You MUST head over to the Poly beach and watch Hallowishes!!!! Yes the music is piped in. I just wouldn't sit close to the pool as that noise can be loud. The party fireworks are just amazing from that beach, they take over the whole sky......it is a sight to see for sure, and since you will be right there, you have to!!!!
Great nice and relaxing plans after a late night of travel. Your girls are gonna love the resort and the pool, definitely take some time to enjoy it while you are there. I agree that the Poly beach is the best resort to watch wishes and if you time it right you might be able to catch the electric water parade too.

Well, then, it's settled! We WILL go see Hallowishes from the Poly If anyone gives me any lip about being tired, well I'll just tell them that Linny says we have to
That is totally wierd about the lady feeding the fish hotdogs from the buffet

They are so excited about the pool! They've watched about a million videos of it on You Tube already

I don't think we could skip the pool, even if I wanted to! The girls will not stop talking about it I totally forgot about the electric water parade, thanks for reminding me! What time does that usually run? I'm assuming the party fireworks will be at 9:30 like usual, so maybe it will be around 9.

Before I get to my next update, I wanted to share with you a photo of our countdown! I had planned on crafting something with those Home Depot paint chips, and waiting until we got to the 30 day mark to start counting down BUT after the girls knew that I made our ADRs they were asking everyday how many days were left! It didn't take me long to tire of that , so I decided to make a simple countdown using calendars I printed from Disneyjunior.com. I hung it on the back of the girls' bedroom door, so now each morning they take turns removing one of the little post-its to find out how many more days to go. Surprisingly there has not been one fight yet over who gets to pull off the sticker! Don't worry though, we've got plenty of days to go
I do believe that it starts around 9pm, hope you get to catch it.
This does sound about right, I know everytime we watch any party fireworks there, we see the parade either right before or right after.
I found the actual times for this once before on some website.....I'm sure someone can chime in on where to find it.
