We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - Page 29 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I hope everyone is having a great day. While we may not have had any recent Disney Trips planned or happening soon, Skyler & I have had some Disney related experiences here. We saw another Disney on Ice Show which my DMIL surprised us with tickets for(we saw the Disney Princesses this time and Mickey & Minnie in their finery on skates), Phineas & Ferb Live(also which my DMIL surprised us with tickets for), & in a few weeks Skyler is going to his first concert(now before your jaws drop a family friendly concert) seeing 4 familliar faces on Disney Junior(Drum roll please) ...The Imagination Movers (an early Birthday Gift). He is so excited to see them & Erick and I are lookijg foward to it too. I hope Skyler is going to let me finish this TR with pictures from our trip. He does constantly ask me when we're going back to Disney.
Yesterday we remwmmbered Stefanie Matthews watching some Disney Movies. I was a teary eyed mess learning about her passing.
I hope I don't leave you hanging too much longer with the pictures from my trip. I am going to back track now to see where I left off with my pictures and try to upload some of them before I pick up Skyler from school in a little over an hour, if not, I will certainly try to work on getting them up while he's at school the remainder of his school year.
It looks like I still have quite a few pictures of our Disney trip to include. I will even upload a few of Skyler with his cousins too so you can see him with the twins as well as Maddy from when we saw her last summer. If I haven't shared some big news yet with everyone, there will be a new family member in September. Sadly Skyler won't be a big brother quite yet, but Maddy will be a Big Sister. We are looking foward to welcoming our newest Niece or Nephew very soon, and Skyler is excited about having another baby cousin to love.
I certainly hope I can make my little boy's wish come true by bringing him back to WDW or on a Disney Cruise within the next few years. A commercial never goes by for WDW or DCL where Skyler doesn't say "Mama, I love Disney World. We go back now." If there's truely one place I have the very fondest memories of seeing Skyler come out of his shell and come to life, WDW has been that place. With Speech Therapy, and school, he is finally finding out who he is and what he loves, and isn't afraid to tell me. I love it that he loves to watch Disney Movies with me and really enjoys one place I love to return to. Erick may be the difficult one to bring with us (Oh and Melissa, after getting partially through your TR yesterday, I told Erick we needed to take a Sunrise Safari just to get a glimpse of the X-Rated Lion behavior. I don't think I've ever gotten as quick of a reply from him on that one). I do also hope that the next time we go back to WDW, Skyler will have a better love for FotLK, as he is now into all 3 of the Lion King Movies...I absolutely love hearing him say "Mama, we watch Lion King 1 1/2" "Mama, I scurry Flinch." (instead of him saying "Scurry, Sniff, Flinch"). He was even on a mad hunt to find "Timon" when we went to the National Zoo over his Spring Break this year.
I know I didn't mention this prior, and as much as our Spring Break to Chicago last year was a let down, I was actually very happy we went, since it was the last time my mom was with all 5 of her sisters together, and it would ever be the 6 of them together again. Her sister who lived in Florida (a half hour from where I grew up) and was moving back to Chicago had passed away this past September and I was so glad Skyler had the opportunity to meet her twice and I was able to give her a huge hug before leaving there.
Hopefully my little one is ready for a nap so I can upload some pictures today, if not certainly tomorrow while he is at school. I hate to cut off at this point, but time to get my little one from school.

I just want to thank each and every one of you who read my TR and have stuck around for me to finish it. Since Skyler's Autism Diagnosis, things have gotten a little more crazy and I had a really hard time accepting it. It has been so nice to be able to vent in this TR as well as have you read about Skyler's first trip to WDW, which I couldn't wait to make a reality even if it meant going at a different pace than I was used to. Thank you so much again. It is so nice to have you all to converse with.
I have been trying to get some pictures in yesterday & today. So sorry it hasn't happed. I am struggling with the loss of a cousin(she passed away 2 days ago). It hasn't been easy(sorry if any of you who I have as friends on Facebook read my status saying I needed a laugh to help me get through my Craptastic Day, that was partially what it was referring to besides learning my Grandmother has Lung Cancer). On a brighter side my sister is expecting baby #3 in Oct. And mentioned that we should plan a family trip to WDW(which she doesn't have to ask me twice(Erick just needs some arm twisting though). The pictures will hopefully be posted soon. Thank you so.much for continuing to be patient with me finishing up my TR.
