As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). You definitely had some more drama today. See, I'd have made him walk, even if he was literally dragging his feet. And to not take you're medicine when you know all you're going to be doing is walking around...not a very smart move.

Sorry the burger at Beaches and Cream was a disappointment as well, especially as I'm one of the main supporters of this place, telling everyone how good the burgers are here.
Sorry Christine is just not getting that she needs her meds! I know that can be so frustrating. The burgers I've had a B&C have been fine, but it's the ice cream I love. The Milky Way Sundae is very good, but not quite as good as the No Way Jose.
How cute Evan wanted to pay for his drink at Club Kool. LOL What is with the Beverly and the delayed reaction? My DD did the same thing, it took a couple seconds but you could see her face turn. It was hilarious! I caught the whole thing on video, I love it!
My fave burger so far is at Le Cellier. I have heard the one at Yak & Yeti is amazing too. I am going to RFC this year, and more than likely was going to get a burger...so I am now looking very forward to that! I am a burger girl all the way!
Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day.
I think burgers at steakhouses are usually very good too. I like the one at Outback - cheddar and bacon - yum!

I know - right. Honeslty I was so tired of hearing the whinning I just wanted to move - Evan was fine walking and it saved my ears if nothing else.

Well I just called Evan's school and this Thursday I'll be registering him for Kindergarten. I can hardly believe my little baby will be heading to school (real school not day care) in only a few short months. They just grow up way too fast.
Hopefully next update will be this week - I had a mommy meltdown last week and just couldn't get anything accomplished. Evan has been back-talking me a lot, mainly because he is tired and I had had enough of it. On Saturday he fell asleep on my lap at 6pm and slept until 6am Sunday morning. Sunday and Monday he was good as gold and if he is good today I'm taking him to Chick-fil-a for dinner. It really is amazing what 12 hours of sleep can do for a kid. Now I just need to figure out a way that I can get 12 hours of sleep.
I totally know the feeling about Evan starting kindergarten! My DD (Abby) is starting too!
We registered in february. I don't think it has hit me yet but I know I will lose it on the first day. I guess as long as I don't lose it in front of her its ok. right?!!

After Club Cool it was time for Spaceship Earth. This is the first time I’ve been on since the update. This was also one of the first rides I didn’t do with Evan. I went with Gunnar and it was weird, not is a bad way or anything, just different. When I’m on a ride like that with Evan I’ll talk to him and try to explain what is going on. He is pretty curious and will ask questions or point things out to me. Gunnar just sat there like a lump. He didn’t appear to understand what was happening.
Fair enough, but even if you don’t get the story line, most people look at the animatronics and catch some details but I got nothing from him. Not until the very end when the “your future” screens were available. Then he came to life and was really into it. In retrospect we probably should have gone over to Innoventions but we didn’t. We headed to Nemo and Friends.
We wandered around the Living Seas for a while and they were doing a dolphin demonstration so we watched that for a bit. We got to head into a showing of Turtle Talk with Crush. Evan had his hand up several times to ask a question but was never chosen. Perhaps his birthday pin was losing its magic? This was my first time seeing TTwC and it was pretty cool.
We hung around a little longer than we intended because Bryson and Gunnar really enjoyed this pavilion. Pretty soon it was time to head out. As I was calculating in my head the time it would take to ride the monorail back to TTC and then bus back to SOG, I was afraid we would be cutting it too close. We were heading to Hoop dee doo tonight and just didn’t want to be rushing that much. As we were leaving Epcot I said “why don’t we just grab a cab back?” It was $20.00 as we needed a 6 passenger van but it saved so much time, it was really worth it. Besides Evan was super excited to have his first taxi cab ride or as he calls them tax-ski.
SOG was prepping for a golf tournament that coming weekend so all week long we saw more and more tents and flags and stages being set up. Today must have had something going on because the traffic to get into SOG was backed up past the Poly. It didn’t help that everyone had to go through the one and only security gate. I suppose it took about 10 minutes to get from Poly to SOG.
Back at the hotel we had a little time to freshen up before we left for Fort Wilderness. We were driving over so that would help us on some of the transit time but we still didn’t have time for naps or swimming.
As we were walking to the garage to get the van Evan was being ornery He has a habit of walking zig-zag in front of people and then they “bump” into him or trip up a little. He was (to me anyway) acting like a typical 5 year old. I don’t know what happened or what he did but Bryson sort of yelled at him to stop touching him. I’m sure Bryson had had enough as well and there is no doubt in my mind that Evan was being annoying. I told Evan to keep his hands to himself and in typical parent style made the announcement that “Nobody touch anybody else with any part of their body”. To me this was perfectly logical; any of you with children know exactly what I’m talking about. Because if you tell child 1 not to touch something and you don’t tell child 2 the same thing, then child 2 will immediately go a touch something. So to save yourself that problem you make very broad sweeping (and brilliant) statements about no body touching anybody ever again!!
Well apparently Christine didn’t like me “disciplining” her children. She told me “As far as I know my children haven’t touched anyone all week, that’s all I’m saying”. Remembering the drama from earlier in the week and me being of a very non-confrontational personality I just decided to fluff it off. Later that night I gave my mom an earful.
If I had been of a different personality (one like Christine’s) this could have turned into an ugly situation. All I’m gonna say is her kids may not have touched Evan or my sister’s children during the week but they beat the heck out of each other all week. On more than one occasion I witnessed B push G full force – head on – both hands. Enough that G was pushed off balance – that’s all I’m sayin’! ‘nough said.
My mom has a school of thought when dealing with difficult people and my step dad was one of them so we both have a lot of experience dealing with them. You know the type they have had a fight with every person they every met. Everyone else is always at fault, everyone is dissing them. You know who I’m talking about? Well my mom always says “If you have had a problem with everyone you have ever met, maybe the problem is with you and not everyone else.” Christine springs to mind here
OK rant over.
We arrive at Fort Wilderness and find busses waiting to take us from the parking lot to Pioneer Hall. We arrive, check in and get our picture taken. (Will post photo tomorrow as I need to scan it and forgot to bring it to work today) We mill about doing nothing special until it is time to enter in for dinner. We have floor seating, category one, and are about 3 tables from the stage. The show was good, hokey but good. The food was good too and the service fine. The kids had a blast. When we were seated and the food began to arrive Gunnar pitched a fit about something. He was far enough away from me that I don’t know what happened but I could hear him screaming and crying. Apparently he didn’t want to eat this for dinner. I just figured he was on overload and tired but Christine said he is frequently like this. She got him under control and eventually he ate everything on his plate.
Mom and I were talking and after watching G’s behavior all week and hearing some of Christine’s comments we both think he is on the Autism spectrum. My mom said something to her boyfriend (Gunnar’s grandfather) and they have never had him tested and feel everything is just fine and dandy. I’m actually a little surprised his school has not recommended testing or his pediatrician. I’m certainly no expert but he is either on the spectrum or has obsessive/compulsive disorder – but hey not my kid, not my place.
Back to dinner - during the dinner/show the performers at one point come around to the tables. One gentleman was right behind me and next to Evan. They were asking who was celebrating a birthday/anniversary today. Bryson raises his hand – which he was and then Evan raises his hand. I pull his hand down and he raises the other one. I tried to tell him his birthday wasn’t today but he was having none of it. The CM asks Evan his name and age. I tell him he isn’t celebrating today but last week. “Close enough” the CM says to me and then the spotlight turns on him and announces Evan’s birthday to the crowd. (pin surprise #10)
After HDDMR we headed back to the hotel were we celebrated Bryson’s birthday by singing and having the cake we bought yesterday.
All in all a good day – some more drama but nothing I can’t handle. As I said before my step dad was a very difficult person to get along with but he was an excellent training ground for the real world. Since I lived with him for about 20 years it has prepared me for all the whack-a-doodles you meet in life.
Evan is now all registered for kindergarten - - sniff! I really just can't believe my little baby boy is growing up so fast - I'm sure I'm going to lose it in September when he actually GOES to school. (real school not day care)
You continue to amaze me with your patience, and ability to let things roll off! I KNOW I wouldn't have been as good at that.
Sorry about the kindergarten thing! My youngest is about to complete elementary school, so I'm getting all teary too, but at the other end of the party. Kids do just grow up TOO fast. My oldest got his learner's permit last week. How did THAT happen?!? Just all reminders to appreciate every day, and be more like you - letting the little things roll by.
Sorry for the walking drama but glad it did not stop you from enjoying. LOve the ice cream and Beaches & Cream...my favorite meal there, the onion rings and a chocolate shake
More drama, but you seem to be staying above it. I agree with your mom's opinion and have several "difficult" people in my life, but I also try to let it roll off my back. I just don't have the confrontational gene, I guess.
Can't believe Evan is going to the big K! Super exciting!

Again your ability to not get involved in bad adult behavior saved the day. As you say, I'm sure if you had responded with what was in your head you and Christine would have been in a screaming match that would have ruined everyone else's time. "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."! (Am I the only one who knows that line?) HDDR sounds like fun. That's one I've never done. I think you have to go with a group for that to be a fun time. Evan's birthday button is still going strong!
Catching up again. Sorry about the continued drama. I love how Christine thinks her kids are perfect angels. NO kid is perfect. Anyway, I love how Evan's birthday pin continues to pay off! And even at Gatorland. I have a photo of myself with that big fake gator just like the one you took of the boys!
