Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes there is! After great debate this weekend (dates, pricing, etc), Steph and I are booked for 5/29-6/2 at the WL!! Not staying Club Level this trip so no AKL. Been too spoiled to stay there and not have Club access.

Sanaa is quite delicious! Have you been to the Raglan Road in KC?
Sadly the Raglan in KC closed. The building opened back up as another Irish Pub, but I have yet to try it since it switched from Raglan. I have a friend that was a server there and several of her co workers transferred to Orlando.
Ok I finally got around to starting your PTR. I'm only 8 pages behind. Sounds like you've got some great places to eat! I'm now sitting at my desk hungry after reading that list. I'm sure my DH and son will one day insist on SWW. I'm not a SW person at all. DH finally convinced me to watch the movies 3-4 years ago. They were OK, but I'm definitely not the biggest fan. I'm sure I'll comply and take them to SWW if they ask me at some point though.
Well you can always do other stuff while they do that.

Friday night I picked up cupcakes from a bakery that makes them huge and pricey ($5-6 each) cupcakes (they were on Cupcake Wars on the Food Network too). They were special for St. Patrick’s Day. The boys split a Lucky Charms cupcake that consisted of a vanilla cupcake with marshmallow filling, buttercream icing and topped with, what else – Lucky Charms cereal. Mike & I split the Irish Car Bomb which was a Guinness cupcake with Irish Whiskey ganache filling and Baileys Irish Cream icing with gold glitter. They were quite delicious! After dessert we watched Toy Story 3.
Saturday we went to the zoo to avoid the St. Patrick's Day parades crowds. It was a very nice day – until the rain came. Dylan had his face painted like a zebra. (I have a feeling we’ll be doing this at Disney this summer too. Does anyone know how easy the face painting at Disney comes off?) We had cheesecake factory for dinner and visited the Disney Store (but no purchases were made this time).
Yesterday we cleaned and did laundry then headed to Red Robin for dinner. Afterwards we went to Target and got Lukas come new crocs (did you know Target now sells crocs?). He has some that were Dylan’s, but Lukas has smaller feet and we didn’t have smaller crocs. I added the jibbitz we had in another pair so he now has Buzz in one and a little green man in the other. He wore them to daycare today – gotta break them in for Disney!
In Disney planning I pre-purchased the PhotoPass cd today since the price is going up Wednesday. One more thing to cross off the list!
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!
Princess Leia: General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to convey my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack, and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
[pause] Obi-Wan: [to Luke] You must learn the ways of the Force, if you're to come with me to Alderaan. Luke: Alderaan? I'm not going to Alderaan, I've gotta get *home*, it's late, I'm in for it as it is! Obi-Wan: I need your help, Luke. She needs your help. I'm getting too old for this sort of thing. Luke: Look, I can't get involved. I've got work to do. It's not that I like the Empire; I hate it, but there's nothing I can do about it right now... It's all such a long way from here. Obi-Wan: That's your uncle talking.
Sounds like a fun weekend! If I remember correctly, Lexi's face painting at Disney came off easily in the bath tub. I think she wore it overnight and then we washed it off in the bath the next morning.
I did not know that Target sold Crocs now, I am going to have to check that out for Lexi.
Ok, first, those cupcakes look YUMMY! I love your Mickey head plates! We have some similar to those. They are the Mickey head shape but have a different print on them. The kids love them. Sounds like you guys had a really fun weekend with LOTS of yummy food! I was a little jealous. I love your little boys shirt that says, "Kiss me I'm cute" I must say it is very appropriate. He is super cute! The Zebra face is really cool.

YUM is all I have to say about those cupcakes! It sounds like you had a fun weekend! Love the zebra facepaint, was it difficult to remove? My girls have gotten the face paint at Disney several times and it was easy to remove with some soap, water and a washcloth (though I'm sure the hotel wasn't too happy about all the make up on the towels )
Great weekend there
My friend just posted the recipe for an Irish Car Bomb cupcake, sounds similar to what you had and looks and sounds super delish too
I'm stroller obssessed............what kind of stroller was Lukas in in that pic?? Have a 20% off coupon for strollers at Babies R Us and I'm itching to use it on a beefy umbrella stroller I saw
Grab some Pond's or Dove face wipes for the boys next time for the face painting. They work much better than scrubbing their poor little faces with a washcloth, plus you can just ditch all the mess too. Dylan looks great as a Zebra. Another perfect weekend with Kelly and her boys!!!

Add me to the list of peeps heading to Target to check out the Crocs. DD was between sizes last year, so I'm hoping a pair will fit her this year! And those cupcakes look delicious!!!!
