As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I love so many things about this post! I love how patient and sweet Asher was, I love that Selah's Disney ride experience has made her recognize a good time when she sees one, I love the little girl in line with you, I love that Selah's presence in the school is an education and joy to everyone else, and I LOVE hearing her happy squeak in the hula hoop video! The only thing I don't like is the complaining lady, but maybe she got a bit of an education as well.
Thank you so much! I do believe that Disney is what made Selah want to do the Bounce Houses. She has never been interested in them in the past. That little girl in line was a real blessing to me that night. She made me smile real big. Selahs teacher talks all the time about how much the other kids in school love her and it really shows when I am at the school with her. When we are walking down the hall an pass another kid they always say hi to her and seem very happy to see her. It doesn't bother them if she doesn't acknowledge them or even if she spits (this is something Selah loves to do and we think it is sensory related, we have not figured out how to stop it). They just seem happy to see her. Kids are all the time coming up to me whether at school or around town and letting me know they know Selah and that they are her friend. She has a wonderful teacher who has really worked hard this year to bring awareness to the school of different abilities. He has introduced his class to the whole school this year and it has really made all the students in the school more loving towards the kids in Selahs class. I hope the lady began to gain some understanding but I always try to be understanding too. She really irritated me but if I were in her shoes I would not have said those things but I may have thought them. Selah looks like a typically developing child. She looks like every other 5 or 6 year old. I know before Selah came along I may have thought the same thing. I don't do that any more. I am much more understanding because of her. Hopefully that woman is now too.
How fun to be able to see and hear your family in action! What a thrill that Selah was interested in the inflatables this time, and what a sweet little girl next to you (how cute that she was worried that Selah also had "special knees" in addition to special needs -- that made me giggle ).
Sorry about the woman behind you. You handled it much more gracefully than I probably would have.
I'm glad Jamie was able to join you at DTD. Your purchases all sound great. And how fun that Jamie and Asher were able to do Ride Makerz. Finn McMissile looks pretty cool!

Oh Tabitha, I just loved the video of Selah on the slide! I'll be honest here when I say, that even I thought it looked fun, and can totally see why Selah thought she could ride the bumpy slide...it did look like that!
That little girl was just precious! Special knees...I am going to remember that one for a while!

I know kids as they get older can be cruel, but I find that as youngsters there is this quality that they seem to have of being able to see past other kids differences. I have very much enjoyed all the interaction I have seen with my DD age 7, and her special needs friends with each other and other children at school. Makes you realize how "wise" kids truly are in some ways, innocence.

Tabitha thanks for posting those videos! It was great to see and hear Selah's joy as she was hula hooping and sliding down the bouncy slide. I'm sorry about the rude woman, but what a blessing that little girl was.

the story of Selah on the slide! She has really become quite the thrill seeker. Sounds like you all got quite a bit of Disney souvenirs at DTD. How cool that pjs were on sale with the purchase of the socks (which I think may be the same ones Stefanie insisted on last June)! EoS is one of our DTD QS favorites.
