As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Missy, I read the whole thing in the last couple of days. It has been a fun way to spend a rainy day. Congratulations on your new baby. Thanks for taking us along.
Loved your TR, we will be there in June with our 2 yrs old so hope Aiden behaves as well as Cameron....Congrats on the new addition.
Thanks! Traveling with a toddler was definitely a lot of work. The meltdowns that happen at home still happen at WDW. All in all Cameron did well on the trip and I hope Aiden does well for you too. I would just suggest taking things slow and recognizing when your child has had enough. We weren't able to do everything we wanted, but we were able to have a lovely trip just the same.

Yes it is! Although I hope we don't bring one home every trip. That would be a lot of kids!

Thanks! It was probably easy to miss. I kind of snuck it in at the end of some replies to comments. Not actually in the body of the TR.

We'll see how our traditions actually take shape over the years. I'm sure a lot of it will depend on the ages and likes of our children. I'm sure someday my son will say "No Way!" to the princesses.
Our next trip will be the first time we've gone without extra people and this time we have 2! I hope it goes as well as our last day at the MK did on our last trip.
I can't believe the trip is already over! so much for sharing your new family traditions with us! Great final thoughts!
You're welcome! I really hope our new family traditions live on, but I'm sure they'll change over the years. Much like our kids will.

Thank you! I think he knows he's adorable. He causes trouble and then flashes me a big smile. Sometimes he even gives a hug and kiss to get out of trouble. I'm in trouble in a few years...

Good luck on your trip with just the 4 of you! I'm sure it will go fine. You had a lovely day at MK when it was just you and your boys so I'm sure this trip will be the same. I had thought our next trip would be just the four of us, but I was talking to my mom last week and she said "Next time it's my turn to go with you. Even if your dad doesn't want to go" She does free babysitting for us so we probably owe her a trip. I guess we might not be as alone as we thought next time...
Great TR and great wrap up. Thanks for bringing us along. I hope to hear more of this new family tradition. I never thought we would have been going every year, but here we are, and it's always a special time. Hope you are feeling good right now and can't wait to meet the newest addition.

Thanks for reading! I wish we were going every year, but I'll settle for every other year. I've already been planning our next trip with the new baby. Actually I'm still planning two trips because I can't decide between WDW and a cruise. Maybe we'll just have to do both.
I'm actually feeling better now. I was really sick for a while, but that seems to have passed. More fun to come with this pregnancy I'm sure. I just want October to be here already! Although that would mean I would have to actually get off my butt and clear out the office (aka Cameron's new bedroom).
Missy, I'm wayu late to the party. I just read your TR from beginning to end. What a nice time you had. Sorry Cam was a little fussy at times but that is what toddlers do - right. I agree with the value resorts - rooms are too small. Go Moderate next time if you can. Congrats on the new addition. I'll be going in 2014 as well but probably in the summer as my son will be in school so I'm now stuff with summer - time. Hearing how Cam was not wanting to be in the stroller, or not wanting to get out mad me happy I waited to take my son until he was a little older so I didn't have to deal with that. Well that and I just couldn't afford it.
Anyway -thanks for sharing, maybe next time I'll make it in enough time to actually comment while you are still writing the report.

Thanks for reading! I think we'll at least try a moderate or maybe an AoA suite next time. Or maybe even stay off site It was a little frusterating when Cam didn't want to sit in the stroller, but I think he's getting over that phase so it really only lasted about 6 months or so. Of course he does prefer to walk by himself. We've since changed our minds several times about when we will go in 2014. We will be going, but a summer trip might be in the cards. Who knows? Life changes when you have a new baby!
