Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Awesome! Most people not only do not say her name right but they also have not heard of that group. That is where we got her name. One night we were discussing possible girl names and the TV was on. A commercial came on for Christian CD's. Selah was listed in the groups on the CD. We knew the group and liked them but had not thought about it for a name up until that point. We knew it was a word in the Bible but didn't know how it was pronounced and just hadn't thought of the group. When we heard them say it in the commercial we both loved it. Asher's name is in the Bible and we like that it is not common (or at least wasn't when he was born). His name is one of the 12 tribes of Israel, son of Jacob and one of Joseph's brothers. Giving our girl a name from the Bible that is also not common was perfect. Of course, in the Bible, Selah is not a name it is a word. I think it is a very appropriate word for my Selah. It means to pause/reflect. She may not pause and reflect but everyone who meets her will pause and reflect on this incredible little miracle.
I had wondered if you had chosen it for it's meaning. I was actually first taught the pronunciation in a college music course. I can't remember what we were singing for sure other than the words from one of the Psalms and that word appeared at points of significant rest in the vocals. I instructor gave us a little mini-lesson the term.

Wow...my goodness! I've just gone through the entire thread....it's like a novel that I just can't put down! I can't wait for the continuation!!

I'm so glad you and your family have had a mostly good time...and you really seem to take the difficult moments in stride. A lot of us could take lessons from you!

Most of my children are grown (not-so patiently awaiting grandbaby #1 right now) so I sometimes look longingly at the "cute" little families with little ones...I'll now have a new appreciation for them, as well!

Looking forward to reading more....

Didn't realize I was so behind -- all caught up. So sorry about the food poisoning, but so glad you had a buffer day built into your plans so Asher could eat at Chef Mickey's.

Asher sounds like an amazing big brother. I can only imagine how happy you and your husband felt when you could make his Chef Mickey's wish happen.

And what terrific parents you two are! Sick and yet still managing to make everybody else as happy as possible.

Wishing you all a ton of pixie dust for all good things!

PS Thanks for the correct pronunciation of your daughter's name. SAY-la is very pretty!

Both of your children have lovely names. It's funny because we chose Peter's name for the same reasons you chose Asher -- biblical, not too "out there" (Habakkuk, anyone?) yet still uncommon. Then we got pregnant again and went with Jacob, which, while biblical, was at the top of the Social Security list for baby boy names!

I knew Selah was a word from the Psalms (though I know it also appears other places), and when I looked up the meaning, I thought it was such an apt name for her, for the reasons that you pointed out.

Looking forward to the next update!

Thank you so much!! You are too kind. I am not a writer and this is my first TR. It is a little rough but I have enjoyed writing it!

Jamie and I are both pretty easy going and try not to let to much bother us. It's not always easy but we have learned to do this more since we had Selah.

Congrats on the new grandbaby!

We were glad we had that day too! We would have all been so sad to not be able to go to Chef Mickey's.

Asher is an amazing big brother. People ask me if they ever fight. I tell them no, what would they have to fight about. Then they ask if Asher gets upset with her about stuff, getting in his stuff or anything like that. I tell them no, that nothing she does upsets him. He knows she doesn't understand and that she loves him very much and him her. Until people starting asking me I never really thought about it but now I realize how blessed we are to have children that love each other so much and that Asher is such a wonderful a big brother.

Thanks so much for the Pixies and for the compliments!

Thanks so much! Habakkuk! Awesome you chose your boys names for the same reasons! I often wonder when people have children with names from the Bible if they did it on purpose.

Selah's name does appear in other places, Proverbs and funny enough, Habakkuk. We did not originally pick it for it's meaning. It's meaning is actually debated but most commonly it is said to mean to pause or reflect. After everything happened with Selah that is when the meaning of her name became to really mean so much to us and it does fit her so well.

I have a friend who's niece is named Selah, pronounced the same as your daughter, so I knew the pronounciation as well. I did not however, know that it was a bible term.

I just love Asher's name too. So unique!

When we chose the name we had not heard of anyone else with the name and now we hear of little girls 6 and under with that name all the time. I liked that we chose names that were not common but it was like that with both of the kids. They were born and all of a sudden we found a lot of Ashers and Selahs. We actually met an Asher the first time we went to WDW with Asher when he was 2 that was the same age and had the same birthday. Both the boys thought it was pretty awesome.

DTD A Race Car and an Earl. Was Jamie Able to Meet Us? 2/2

I know it has been several days since I did an update. Sorry about that. Thanks for hanging in there with me and for being so patient! I have been having problems with both of my hands and typing makes them hurt. It is something that has come and gone for the past year. It starts with one hand and eventually they are both hurting. I have had a lot of swelling in my left hand the past several days. The swelling is better today though. My updates just may be shorter than they have been for a little while. Thanks for following us on our trip!

We get to DTD and are quickly able to find a parking spot right in front of World Of Disney. I make a mental note of exactly where we park, get the stroller out for Selah and get her settled in it. Then we are off to do some shopping. First stop is Ghirardelli for our free piece of chocolate. Today was caramel, my favorite! This was the same thing they had on the first day we got to WDW. I was not disappointed. Next we went into World of Disney to do some shopping. There were several things I was wanting to accomplish today. My niece, Piper turned 10 on 2/1 and I had planned on getting her present in WDW and I was hoping to do that today. I also wanted to get my mom, dad, and sister something for taking care of our puppy, Padfoot.

Then I was wanting to get some t-shirts for myself, Jamie and the kiddos. We started with Piper. Asher and Piper are best friends. I asked him who her favorite princess was and if he thought she would like something having to do with a princess. He said Ariel but he didn't know what she would want. I really had no idea what to get a 10 year old girl. When they were little it was always toys but now they (my brother has 3 girls, Piper is the middle, then there is Berlyn who is 8 and Alyssa who is 12) are growing out of toys. At least the oldest 2 are. What to get. We went straight back to the girls section with all the Princess stuff and looked for Ariel. Nothing really looked like Piper. It all looked too young. Asher didn't see anything either. I asked him about a shirt but he didn't like those. We kept looking then we came across a purse with Mickey heads all over it. It was canvas and came in white and black. Asher and I both thought Piper would like it but he was no help in picking the color. So I sent a picture to my brother and sister-in-law to see what they thought. I didn't hear back from Jennifer, my sister-in-law, she was working but my brother called me and said he thought Piper would like it but he was going to get Alyssa's opinion. Great idea! She said it was perfect so I asked her what color. She picked the white because the Mickey's showed up better. One gift down! Next we started looking at T-shirts for Selah since we were already in the right room. There were so many cute ones I couldn't decide. I told Asher we would look at his stuff while I thought about it. Asher was wanting to look at a watch. He has had watches in the past and he doesn't like to wear them but I thought maybe he would find one at Disney that wouldn't bother him. I don't remember if I have said this already, if I have please forgive me for repeating myself. Asher has sensory issues and things like that are really difficult for him to deal with. It was his money and he really wanted to look at the watches so off we went. He only had to look for a few minutes before he found the one he wanted. We put it with the purse for Piper and I told him when daddy got there we would talk to him about it. I was believing Jamie was going to make it there. While the kids and I are wandering around looking for these items, Wanda is doing some shopping also. She was wanting a watch too but just couldn't decide. The only thing she knew was she wanted it to be purple. Her favorite color. We all move on into the T-shirt section to see if we can find shirts for all of us. Then I get a text from Jamie, he is getting on the boat from POR! He said he is not 100% but he is better and ready to get out of the room. Yay! We were all very happy he was coming. There were things we were not wanting to do without him. We kept looking in World of Disney while waiting for Jamie to get there. I saw several t-shirts that I liked but couldn't decide. I had no idea what to get for my parents and sister. I was really hoping Jamie was feeling up to really shopping so he could help with ideas. Selah was being very good while we were shopping. She was happily riding in her stroller playing on her iPad or playing with stickers. Several times we passed a CM who saw her with her stickers and they would give her more stickers. Jamie calls me and says he is off the boat and headed to World of Disney. I tell him where we are and then we wait for him to get there.
