We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So I was justified in being scared in 2009? I haven't ridden it since. Maybe I'll have to give it another try. Probably not until my kids beg me to. Gotta wait until somebody will get something out of it. And if that's the kids getting a good laugh at their mama that's fine by me.
Yes, I think you were justified. It scared me too but I like that kind of scared. I'm sure one day your kids will want you to go on it for that very reason, so that can laugh at you. I know Asher loves to hear the story of me and his aunt being scared by it.

Yes, you were totally justified!! Of course, Peter had not ridden it before our trip in December, but he has seen (and giggled at) our 2009 ride photo many times. So now he can't understand what we were so freaked out about!
Do We Make Our 7:20am ADR at Chef Mickey's? Do We Go To MK? 2/2
I was finally feeling better around 3:30-4:00am that morning. I checked my clocked and saw the time and knew we were not going to be able to make that ADR. Jamie was still not feeling good. I changed my alarm from 5am to 7am. I still needed to get up early to call and cancel our ADR. I was also hoping they were not going to charge us the $50 fee for canceling it at the last minute. I finally was able to sleep for a few hours. 7am my alarm goes off and Jamie wakes up. He says he will call so I start looking for the number. I had written down the phone number on the paper with my confirmation number for our ADR's. I had it all together in my Passporter. I look in my Passporter and it is not there. To this day I cannot find that paper. I have no idea what happened to it. I looked for it for several minutes that morning. Then I started looking through my Passporter to find the number in there for dining. I knew it would be in there somewhere. I find the number and Jamie calls. Asher wakes up and sees it is after 7 and says, "why didn't you wake us up? We are going to be late!" I tell him that we have both been sick all night long and we are not going to be able to go. He says ok and then rolls over and very quietly starts to cry. This just breaks my heart. I know how excited he was to finally be going to Chef Mickey's. We had tried to get in there several times in the past and were never able to get an ADR. I go over and sit on the bed beside him and hug him. Jamie is talking to the CM explaining the situation and then Jamie thanks him for not charging us. I whisper to Jamie to ask them if we can get in on either Friday or Saturday morning. Our leaving day is Saturday but we do not have to leave early in the morning. He asks and the CM starts looking. Then Jamie says to me, "we can get in tomorrow morning at 7:15am. Do you want that time?" Me "Yes!!" Asher, "thanks mom. I wasn't upset with you guys. I was just sad." Me, "I know, I was sad too" Wanda, "I'm so glad we could get that changed!" All of us, "yes!" I then told Asher to go back to sleep for a little longer. He asks about MK and Jamie tells him that he just can't do MK today but since we are going to Chef Mickey's in the morning we will go to MK after. We were just switching our days a little. Thursday 2/2 was suppose to be our last park day and we were going to MK. Then Friday was a free day. We had planned on going to Boma for breakfast that day but we canceled when we made our ADR for Chef Mickey for that morning. We had also planned to go swimming and to Beaches and Cream for an early supper. All this on Friday and Saturday was our leaving day. We just switched Thursday and Friday. We were not sure we were going to be able to do Beaches and Cream but we could at least take the kids swimming. We were all happy with that plan and we all went back to sleep for a little more rest.
Asher and Wanda get up around 8:30. They get dressed and go to the Riverside Mill to get some breakfast to bring back to the room. Jamie and I just wanted our mugs filled. They got them something to eat and brought something back for Selah. When they got back to the room we decided to try to get out and do something. Asher was really wanting to go swimming and we knew Selah would love to do that too. I was feeling better but Jamie still was not. I was not ready to eat anything yet but I was better. We got swim suits on and Asher said he wanted to go to POFQ pool to try out the dragon slide. We drive over there and Jamie gets in a lounge chair to relax. Asher heads straight for the slide. Wanda gets a lounge chair and Selah and I get in the pool. The water was so cold! It was not hot out so the cold water was not welcoming. Selah stepped in and wouldn't go any farther. I tried to coax her in but she was not doing it. After about 20 minutes I asked Jamie what he thought about going back to POR to the pool there. The water there the night before was so much warmer. He agreed and I went and asked Asher if he wanted to. He said yes that the slide was slow and boring. So back to POR we go. When we got back Jamie said he had to go back to the room. The rest of us headed to the pool. The water was so much warmer there! Asher headed straight to the slide. After his first time down, he said, "that slide is way better than the other one!" He was happy. Wanda found a chair in front of the slide so she could watch him and Selah and I just relaxed in the pool for a while. After a while Selah got a little fussy so I took her over to the hot tub to see if she would like that. She loved it! She laid back across my legs and just floated there. She was so funny. When she got tired of that I decided it was time for the two of us to go back to the room. I told Wanda and Asher and then Selah and I started the walk back. That was a long walk back without anyone to help me get her back. She decided when were not quite half way back that she didn't want to walk any more so she didn't. She laid down on the walkway and refused to move. Ugh. I tried several times to get her up but when she goes limp or floppy it makes it very difficult to pick her up. I was finally able to pick her up and I carried her for a few minutes and then had to put her down. She is 45 lbs. and that is a lot of weight to carry. I put her down and she started to flop down and I asked her if she wanted to take a bath. She loves baths. She got very excited and took my hand and walked the rest of the way back to the room. Thank goodness! We got back to the room. Jamie was awake and said he was feeling a little better. Selah went straight to the bathroom and was ready to take a bath. I got her water going and got her in the bath. After her bath, I was ready to rest for a few minutes. Selah was happily playing with some toys we brought with us for her. Jamie was reading and I picked up my Passporter to look through somethings. We still had things we wanted to do with the time we had left. I might as well do a little more studying. Wanda and Asher called about 1:30 and said they were going to pick up some lunch from Riverside Mill and bring it back to the room. They got back to the room around 2 with a pizza. I was ready to eat something by this time. It was a very yummy pizza. After having some lunch we were all wanting to go to DTD. Jamie wasn't quite ready yet but said he hoped to meet us there later. Wanda, Asher, Selah and I headed to DTD.
Up Next: DTD! A Race Car and an Earl. Was Jamie Able to Meet Us? 2/2
Glad you guys were feeling better! I also thought on the ride Dinosaur that I felt like things were on the back of my neck-like a tyrodactyl (however you spell it) was right behind me. LOL
Poor Asher -- I'm glad you were able to rearrange your plans! It sounds like a pretty relaxing day (well, except for the having to carry around 45 lbs. of kid part!), and I'm glad you started feeling better by lunch. Hope Jamie follow suit very soon!
So sorry your plans for the day were messed up, but awesome that you could rearrange days and dining to still get Asher into Chef Mickey's. Stefanie and Selah have so many similarities as Stefanie can soak in the tub or stand in the shower forever.
Glad you were able to change your plans around! Poor, sweet Asher-- he's so smart, being able to figure out that he wasn't upset with you, just sad that the breakfast would be canceled. I hope Jamie's extra rest time helps and he's able to join you!
I could feel Asher's disappointment at missing Chef Mickey's as I read. So glad you were able to reschedule! It sounds like you made the best of the day and I'm glad to hear you were feeling better. Hope Jamies feels well enough to join you at DTD.

Aww...poor Asher! I am so glad you were able to switch the ADR, a little Disney magic for him! It just broke my heart, to hear he was crying quietly to himself. He seems to be such a sweet and loving big brother to Selah, he deserves some special magic!
Glad your feeling better, and you were able to do some fun relaxing stuff for the day. Hope Jamie feels better soon too and can join you at DTD.
Glad you were able to switch things around and still get another ADR for Chef Mickey's! I hope that some rest is all Jamie needs, and that he's feeling better soon to join you in some fun.
