We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

When we got to the ferry and Selah saw the water all she wanted to do was go swimming. Before we got on I almost told Jamie we needed to take the bus instead but I knew that everyone else wanted to take the ferry. The line we were in was not a long one and I was hoping that no one else would get in line so that it would be fairly empty. That didn't happen. All of a sudden there were a bunch of people behind us in line. We got up to the boat and found out we had to fold up the stroller. I was hoping we were going to be able to leave her in the stroller. That would have made things a little easier. We got her out, folded the stroller and got in a seat as quickly as possible. She was squirming, squealing and screaming wanting to get in that water. I was struggling to hold her and find something in her bag to distract her. I didn't have her iPad with me because it was in the car. I gave her my iPhone and she calmed right down for the ride. I could tell that the rest of the people on the boat were relieved but no one said anything to us. I was very thankful for that. It was a nice ride the rest of the way to DTD.
Once we got to DTD Asher wanted to go to Once Upon A Toy first so off we went to check out the toy store. When we got there there was a CM standing outside the store with 2 books. The Very Fairy Princess books. We have seen the books but we did not have them. He told us that Emma Walton Hamilton, daughter of Julie Andrews was doing a book signing for the next couple of hours in the toy store. Awesome! This would be a great keepsake for Selah! We went in and found her in the very back of the store. We bought both books and got in line to get them signed. She was very nice and talked to Selah for several minutes after signing our books and Selah signed "thank you" to her. Selah has just recently learned to sign, "thank you". She doesn't exactly understand what it means yet. I think she just thinks it is another way to ask for something but if we tell her to say thank you she will do it very happily. It is really sweet. Next we headed to the World of Disney. Wanda had never been to DTD so this was all new for her. She was very much enjoying all the stores. Next Asher wanted to go to the Lego store to build a car. So we headed over there and while there we took some pics of the kids with the legos.
Now it was getting close to time for our first ADR… T-Rex! We were so excited about trying out this restaurant. Asher loves Dinosaurs and from the pictures we had seen it just looked like so much fun! Our ADR was for 4pm and when we got there they seated us right away. They asked us to park the stroller outside in stroller parking and I asked that I be able to take Selah in to get her seated and then go back out and park it. They were very nice and let us do this. We took her in and got her seat strapped in then got her strapped in. For this trip we ordered a portable booster seat. She can no longer fit in the restaurant high chairs but she has to be restrained in a seat or we would not make it through a meal. This is the chair we got her Regalo - My Chair . It was wonderful! It folded down and we could fit it under the stroller. We ended up sitting by the aquarium. It was a great spot! We all loved what we got and the atmosphere was really fun. Asher loved all the Dinosaurs and if Selah got noisy she did not disturb anyone because the whole restaurant was noisy. We loved it! Our meals. Jamie got the Tyrannosaurus T-Bone, he said it was very yummy. I got the Layers of Earth Lasagna, yummy. Wanda got the Mega Mes-O-Bones, yummy. Asher and Selah both ordered off of the kids menu and Asher had the Dizzy Chicken (1/4 rotisserie chicken) and Selah had the Jurassic Chicken Tibits (nuggets). They both ate theirs with no complaints so it was all great! Then for dessert the kids both got 2 chocolate chip cookies. On the kids menu they had sundaes for dessert but Asher does not like anything other than sprinkles on his Ice Cream and Selah does not like ice cream. The sundae was a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top so I knew this was not going to work for either of them. I asked our server if there was any way the kids could both just get two cookies instead of the cookie with ice cream. She asked if there was a dietary reason for it and I told her that Selah has special needs and will not eat anything mushy and Asher does not like stuff on his ice cream and she said, "sure! No problem!" Yay! The kids were both happy with their desserts now the adults. I got Ice Age Indulgence which is layers of ice cream sandwiches and Jamie and Wanda got Cosmic Key Lime Pie. It was all so good! Now, portion size. You would think from the amount of food they put on each plate that they were feeding a large Dinosaur! There was so much food! I did not eat all of my lasagna because I had already seen what I wanted for dessert and knew that it could not go back to the room with us but everyone else took theirs back for later.
After we finished eating Asher wanted to go to the dig site at the boneyard. I can't remember exactly what it was called. After he finished he wanted to go make a Dino in the build a din. He chose a Sabertooth Tiger and he named him Rex because he got him at T-Rex.
After this we were all ready to head back to the resort.
What a fun time at DTD! We were seated at the exact same table as you when we went to T-Rex in December!! How weird is that!?!?
I had read that the portion sizes were dino-sized, so my mom and I split a meal and I was *still* too full for dessert! Your desserts looked yummy. In fact, DH walked by while I was looking at the photos and he said, "Mmmmmm, dessert!"
That little portable booster looks perfect! Glad the restaurant was able to work with you to make things a little smoother for Selah!

It's so great that you all got to take in DTD in the daylight & before hitting the parks. It's a nice "appetizer" to the main courses of the theme parks, if you know what I mean.
We ate at T-Rex, too --- what a perfect choice for your first WDW meal! So glad everyone had a great time. I love seeing the huge smiles on your family's faces. Your happiness shines through so clearly!
Carol

Sounds like a great time at DTD!! My DH and I loved T-Rex it's where we went for lunch on our date time while my aunt watched Alex. We wanted to go there but with Alex's Sensory issues there was no way unless we went alone. Can't wait to read more and hear about your room!! BTW I love your picture in the mirrior, Selah with her IPad, I believe, reminds me of Alex.

We had such a great time that day! That is funny that we were at the same table!
We love that booster! I looked for several days on line for a booster for her before I found that one. It has been wonderful and it was very reasonably priced at $13 on walmart.com. They do not carry it in the store and I have no idea why! it is a great booster and I think a lot of people would love it. So much better than the bulky plastic ones. The restaurant was wonderful!

The inside is very cool! At certain times all the Dinosaurs start roaring and the light change. It was really fun. It is definitely on our must do list.

We love going to DTD on our first day there. We never have a full day the first day so it is nice to be able to just and prepare for the parks.
T-Rex was the perfect choice for sure and it will not be the last time we go there. We loved it!

It was a great time at DTD! Our whole family loved T-Rex and it is now a must do for us! We thought the mirror picture would be pretty cool. Getting all of us to look at the camera at the same time was a challenge. Selah is playing with her iPad in that picture! I didn't remember that until you said it and I went back and looked. It will not be the last pic of her playing with that this trip.

I was off-line due to modem problems for a little over a day and you posted about FIVE updates!! I'm all caught up, though, and enjoying your trip. The car portion seemed to go as well as could be hoped for and it looks like you're enjoying POR, despite the check-in difficulties. I love that boat ride to DTD. I love the shot of Selah's BIG smile in her stroller at the resort, and there are a few shots of a very happy-looking Asher, too. Looking forward to more!
