Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It does sound like kind of a stressful start to the cruise. What is wrong with that couple at dinner?? Guess they were shocked to see children on a Disney Cruise....
Honestly, it sounds like your kids were behaving perfectly well. I'm glad Arnaud and the Spa person convinced you to keep the appointment. Josie looks adorable in the Mickey/Minnie outfit in the photo with Donald.
Sorry you had such a stressful dinner. I wish people would cut us moms some slack when our little ones are having a rough time. We try to keep them calm and quiet, but sometimes they just do what they want anyways. I definitely feel your pain having to leave restaurants myself before because of a certain someone. And I've only got one child to deal with.
At least you ended your day with some fun with your DD. And your room looks really nice. You've probably mentioned this before, but what kind of cabin did you get? We're looking into a cruise in the future and I want to make sure we have enough room.

Oh sweetie, I have had that "what was I possibly thinking?" thought on every cruise - - especially the one we took when Maddie was 3 months old! We used the nursery with both of our girls (mainly during dinner time) and it worked like a dream both times. I truly hoped that it went well for you too.
I tend to always take full blame/responsibility for my children's actions, so I know exactly why you went back to your room. You probably kept yourself from hurting that couple also. I know that everyone deserves to have a good time on their vacation, but when you travel anywhere with "Disney" in the name, you have to know that the children are most probably going to outnumber the adults. Those two were absolutely rude.
I hope that the everything seems rosier the next morning!
I would so not have been able to hold my tongue if that couple was staring me down. First of all, we were not so lucky when we took Hope on the cruise at 8 months old...we had to share a table with other people, but they had a child of their own so all was good. Second, if the couple didn't want to be around children then they should have either taken a different cruise or booked their meals at Palo or Remy's. Either way, I'm used to getting stares from people when dealing with Chad's MS disability (cutting his food), and I've learned how and when to deal with it, and yes, it's uncomfortable, but they should even more uncomfortable for making you feel that way. Anyway, I'm glad you were still able to have a good evening despite the rude couple.
Sorry about the stressful start. Glad you didn't cancel the spa treatment, because you sound like you need it. And I can't believe that rude couple. Sheesh! It's one thing if you're letting your kids run wild, but you were obviously trying to get Andre to stop. Some people are just miserable and need something to complain about. Why are those kid haters on a Disney cruise anyway? And with the early seating to boot? Now you've got me all riled up! By the way, how many outfits did Josie wear this day? She's a little fashion maven.

Sorry about the rude couple. That is just uncalled for. It sounds like you guys had a long first day on the ship, I hope it gets better as the trip goes on!
It was a long dayfor sure.

Oh we had a Cat 4A and it was worth every penny. We were on deck 9 mid ship. I chose deck 9 because I heard from deck 10 you could hear alot of nosie from the pool deck above, and I do believe that to be true.

Thank you for telling me that. They did throw me for a loop and it was best ( for all parties) that I left when I did.

I know, I am usually really good with not letting anyone get to me, but they wouldn't let up and maybe I was just more aware of it now that I have 2 little ones. Who knows.

I KNOW......EARLY SEATING RIGHT!!!! That is exactly what we were saying too.
So reallly, the pics of Josie in the purple cover up were really from day 2 on the ship, but they were good shots of the room so I threw them in........she had 2 different outfits on that day. One in the AM and then one for dinner. Thanks for calling me out on it and making me feel like a Toddlers and Tiaras mom......
Cue angels…..we all woke up bright eyed and well rested and today, being the 3rd day of our vacation I am finally starting to feel settled. No switching around of the bags, no getting on a shuttle, just time to start having a little more fun! First order of business was room service. We ordered breakfast every morning, why?? Because we could! But really because my kids are up at the crack of dawn anyway.
So we had a little tickle fest in bed with the babies and then chowed down on some grub. We got into our swimsuits and then headed down to the atrium for some princess action. I knew the lines would be long so we got down there by 8:30 and sure enough, I was right. But in no time out they all came and Josie was again in a state of shock.
I have to just tell you there is something way different with the characters on the ship, than there is in the parks. They chat it up BIG TIME with the kids, I mean forever. It was really sweet to see, but after a while I was like come on, what are you still talking about.
After we met all the royalty I turned around and there was Pinocchio.
While we were waiting on him Josie said “And there goes Aladdin” WHAT?? Did you see Aladdin? She swares up and down she did, but we didn’t so I asked one of the CM if he was out. She assured me he wasn’t and that Josie was probably just on overload. So after we met just about everyone we could, we decided to go upstairs to check out the kids clubs. Josie wanted to take the stairs so she and I did that while Arnaud and Andre, in the stroller took the elevator. Well, I’m glad we did because who do we see just hanging out on the stairs…………….ALADDIN!!! This was the best meet of our whole trip. He sat and chatted with Josie FOREVER!
After that little love fest I think we just got side tracked and headed out to the pool to try out this wonderful Mickey Slide! I checked Josie’s height for it and she was fine, but to me it just seemed odd to send them up all alone, so I walked up with her and waited in line, then Arnaud was hanging with Andre down below to see her come done. Success!! She loved it. Off to do it again. At this time I noticed that some of the bigger kids could get quite bossy with the little ones. There is a green light at the top that lets you know when to go, red when not to go. This boy was yelling at this girl to just go but I told him the light hadn’t turned yet, he tells me that the light doesn’t change……oh yea kid, just wait. AH HA!!! See it just turned green (not to mention the sign that is there telling you all this) so anyway, this would be one of my gripes with the slide, There definitely should be a guard up top watching these little ones. So after about 3 times down the slide Josie goes for one more……………at the bottom she had somehow flipped herself around and was face first in the water. She was fine, but startled and just like that, she was done with the slide.
So we moved on to the pool and a little of Nemo’s Reef. This place was just so perfect for Andre. I’ll let the pictures do the talking……..
You called your son a weirdo that is flipping awesome!!!!!! Great sense of humor with your children and phoo on those mean people.
When you mentioned the rocking I just made my decision to NEVER go on a Disney cruise. I am so sea sick prone and that would just kill me if I had to spend another cruise in my stateroom. Thank you for letting me know that big boat still rocks!
Ho w adorable! Josie really got the princess pose just right in the photo with Belle. I agree with you about the character meets on the cruise. They're much more relaxed. Andre and Arnaud at Nemo's Reef-- too sweet!
Looks like your day started out much better! All of the pictures of Josie with the princesses are precious and her time with Aladdin is so sweet. Nemo's reef looks like such a fun area for the kiddos.

Love that Josie spied Aladdin when no one else did - and then rocked the solo Aladdin time!! I remember my niece being a MAJOR slide fan in her younger days. Sounds like this morning was a nice relaxing time for the family.
I'm loving your report..So sorry Mr.& Mrs. Crabapple ruined dinner on your first night (some people!!). I hope upcoming dinners were much better. I just have to say Josie with the Princesses made me tear up! I cannot wait for my lil lady to have her first encounters with the Princesses on board as well. And glad Josie got to see Rapunzel, that will be a main event for us too. (And way cool on the Aladdin sighting/meeeting... what Magic!)
looking forward to reading on...
